Was there nobody at Wetherby with a brain cell that could have held their race for 2 minutes? Or is it because they didn’t get a phone call from the BHA who didn’t think of it either?
Re:Red Rum Chase Aintree have no respect for tradition as was shown by moving the Aintree Hurdle away from national day despite it being there since it inception and turning its historic winners enclosure into a bar.
Terrible from ITV today, couldn’t be bothered to send anyone to Kempton even though it was the principal meeting and took the race tech pictures from there so could cut away from the injured horses.
Given this invades lot have no interest in the racing anyway can’t they go there tonight and still enjoy the alcohol and cocaine?
Indeed, she who wants the Baring Bingham scrapped
Imagine where York would be now if JCR had it,especially the prize money
January 2, 2026 at 10:57 in reply to: New upload 1985 Anthony Mildmay & Peter Cazalet Handicap Chase Sandown #1749345This Sandown Saturday along with February one used to be a fabulous days racing when the hurdle course going didn’t seem so different from the chase course as it does now
It profitable because of the media rights from all those sand pit meetings.surprised the JCR bean counters haven’t been looking at Sandown that sits on even more valuable land, needs updating and apart from a few days has poor attendance
As good a King George as we’ve had for a while and ITV could only be bothered to show 4 horses beforehand
Noticed a few padded hurdles falling to the ground after being barely touched at Ascot yesterday, has the directive gone out to the loosen them up?
Absolutely right Cork All Star,JCR want rid partly because nobody goes but nobody goes because of what JCR did to Kempton.
For me the managed decline started in the mid 90s when they removed the old parade ring with its two tiered viewing and “refurbished “ the main stand leaving Miriam Francome memorably describing it as like being at Tesco’sLooking forward to a King George at Aintree with no park&ride no silver ring,£40 to park £100 to access the roof terrace And 9 fences taken out due to the low sun.
Not to be outdone by By having 20mins between The Becher & Tingle Creek yesterday,we have 10mins between The Hilly Way & Peterborough today.
And now we have 4 meetings on SSR for their biggest NH day.
Looking forward to their usual scant coverage of The Fighting Fifth today while based 300 miles away
It certainly the most gruelling Uk open grade one Chase and while seasons are being ruined at Haydock,Irish horses have a much better starting point in The John Durkan.
“Big race comes up early today” no Ed you need to come on air earlier
