Not impressed that the commentator failed to mention the status of the horses who had fallen in the Dovecote, but did mention the jockeys. Even if things don’t look good, they can still say the horse is receiving attention and they will update further when there is more news.
Mentioning the jockeys but not acknowledging the horses at all gives the impression the horses don’t matter.
Would have hated to be at Kempson today because the unfunny,uncool and unnecessarily OTT announcements accompanying the winners as they came back in would have had me rooted to the spot with embarrassment.
Even via the Tv you could hear that it was a particularly piss poor poundshop attempt at whipping up excitement boxing style and at one point because an owner’s name was Beadle ‘Watch out Beadle’s about’ was exclaimed.
This kind of dumbed down crap needs calling out,its just such a wet and misguided attempt to appeal to god knows who, because I can’t think of any potential demographic that wouldn’t find this failed razzamataz approach utterly cringe making .

The compère even got that wrong: he actually said “Look out, there’s a Beadle about”. Mind you, I doubt that he was even alive when good old Jeremy was pulling his pranks on the unsuspecting public.
Kempton tannoy – cringe making indeed. And all I cought was about 6 words before diving for the mute. If they keep this up there’ll be a popular campaign to close them!

Outside of the King George meetings, the Kempton crowd today was reported to be the best since covid, which sounded real positive until they said the total……….just over 3k and I was like…….oh!

When he was a racecourse judge I seem to remember he wasn’t averse to having a dramatic pause when announcing the result of a photo finish. What a “”””! sprung to mind then as well.Perhaps the size of the crowd was compromised by a clash with that ‘head bobber’ at Twickenham up the road and covered (very poorly) by the main ITV channel.
I see Richard Hoiles is the latest racing commentator to take the bookmaker shilling, in an excruciating advert for Betway which also features Paul Townend.
