The fact is that RTV has now got worse since New Years Day,not a good situation when you need subscribers.
This is a spectacular own goal and the winners are ITV and eventually perhaps SKY.Given their previous history,we will soon no which trainer leaked the info to the Racing Post as their horses will be removed to another trainer.
Just as we thought,it’s a dogs breakfast on RTV with no reply/reflection on the Cheltenham opener and split screens etc.
Just as well watch ITV the rest of dayWhile both courses have long straights, that’s where Haydocks similarities with Newbury end with its hairpin bends and soft trolly fences.
Interesting to see money for Clan des obeaux and that Bristol De Mai isn’t jocked up yet so will he run??I’ve long held the view that the schedule is drawn up by chimpanzees at a chimps tea party.
The obvious meeting to benefit is Becher day at Aintree,it’s not great having it on the same day as The Tingle Creek.
Agree with you Phill about ITVs flat obsession,it’s like they are stuck in the 80s.
As for ATR,it’s cheap & cheerful with its grainy pictures and going for adverts just before big races but hopefully will be better on sky next year when it will be in HD and no Irish racing getting in the way.Doesn’t help having to show the 3.30 at Listowel & 3.40 at Bath.
Perhaps they should drop both races to give the Leger the coverage it deservesI guess Simon is now rather glad he didn’t get the ITV gig having seen all the dumbed down shenanigans he has avoided.
This coming Saturday RUK have to squeeze in Ascot,Kempton,Haydock,Stratford &Thirsk ,it just as well they haven’t got to show the 2 Irish meetings yet.
No real surprise as it’s not possible to fit it all in and as it is it’s a shambles at times thanks to “planning ” by the incompetent BHA
The big plus of RUK is their coverage is superb at the big meetings when they only have 1/2 meetings to show, indeed I would go as far to say its better than being there and a welcome antidote to what ITV serve up.
But there is a dark cloud looming in the shape of Irish racing,as there is just so much of it.
Yes it will be nice watching the graded jump races on the winter Sundays but how are they going to fit it all in?Leopardstown on Boxing Day for example.
This summer there was an Irish race both 5 minutes before and after The Coral-Eclipse so that would ruin coverage of that Group one and there’s was more examples like this.
I know they have RUK extra, but that’s no use if I’m recording it as I’m out etc.
It seems they will be charging the same for less quality and that can only end one way.It took Dancing on Ice a week to see through him,so why is Racing happy to have him???
I too have given up on ITV for the flat season for RUK but sadly I may have to return next summer as all the Irish racing will ruin RUK for me.
I was at Sandown the previous weekend and it was just the same, sadly it’s a price we have to pay for racecourses going all out to attract the thickos
To be honest jumping is so much bigger nowadays that’s it’s only after Aintree,Ayr,Punchestown and Sandown does the Flat take centre stage.
Rain forecast from lunchtime tomorrow, surely Nicky won’t pull Altior out leaving a match?
