I was at Newmarket for the Guineas meeting over the weekend and enjoyed it massively even if my pocket didn’t. One thing however, that really got my goat was the incessant loud music that was played before the races. I couldn’t here myself think, let alone hold a conversation with my fellow racegoer about the race to come.
This isn’t the first time as we’re getting this more and more before and after so-called ‘big races’ and it’s proven terribly annoying.
I’d be intrigued to find out if I am a lone protestor.
May 7, 2018 at 22:21 #1353411No Charles you’re not alone myself and friends also find it really annoying especially the Devil Music they play after the QIPCO Guineas to welcome in the winner.
There was also a constant advert for Tweenhills that also blasted the ears between racing. And the worst example was after prizegiving for La Ti Dah to Lady Lloyd Webber a couple of Beat Box guys were invited up onto the podium to tell everyone how good they were at imitating musical instruments, they then proceeded t o give a demonstration which resulted in half the horses parading in the paddock rearing up in a panic as they passed the mikes around the parade ring, needless to say it stopped very quickly and they slunk away to the nearest wine bar ( the annoying guys not the horses
) … Just can’t understand why people can’t just come to the races without the need for constant noise all the time, this is a racecourse not the O2…
Like you Charles thoroughly enjoyed the day despite the noise and left well out of pocket which is unusual as normally have 3 or 4 winners but yesterday couldn’t get it right..glad you enjoyed it though..
best racecourse in the UK for seeing all the best horses before they win the big Classics..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 8, 2018 at 18:01 #1353479I was at Sandown the previous weekend and it was just the same, sadly it’s a price we have to pay for racecourses going all out to attract the thickos

Sadly, it’s yet another example of racing dumbing itself down to cater for the lowest common denominator.
What’s more it is totally unfair on the horses themselves. - AuthorPosts
