No; it wasn’t the Craven meeting. It was when the last but one world cup was on because we watched Germany play on a tv in a pub with a German couple who had bred It’s Gino. They’d just been to see Frankel that day. We stayed B&B with a lady called Mrs Merry; do you know her?

No I’ve never met Mrs Merry but what a great name, sounds a bit Dickensian.
I’m off to see Frankel again on 4th September and really looking forward to it, wondering how much he has changed in the two years since I last saw him.
Hurry up back to Newmarket Moe and hopefully the sun will shine this time..Jac :rose:

No one likes us, we don’t care!

Before that chant became commercialised on t-shirts & hats, I painted it on the back of my donkey jacket in large white letters for Villa away in November 87 (our promotion winning season).

Do you think they’ll let me into Royal Ascot wearing that :)

‘No I’ve never met Mrs Merry but what a great name, sounds a bit Dickensian.’; that’s what we thought but she was a very frilly frilly lace doily sort of person [actually that is a bit Dickensian I suppose]. I lost a filling from chomping on the sweets she had lying around in little china dishes everywhere #servesmeright

Sounds like Mrs Merry might have had an ulterior motove in leaving all those sweeties lying around Moe, perhaps she gets commission on emergency referrals to the local dentist

Get the Supporters Club to enter the Eurovision Song Contest, GM; only change “Millwall” to “British”. :good:

Fair point Steve however I was amazed to hear a Simon Holt commentary at all since ITV have erased his voice from replays of races shown on Channel 4.

It reminds me of Derek Thompson, after he was sacked from the “old” Channel 4 you never heard him commentate again.

I guess Simon is now rather glad he didn’t get the ITV gig having seen all the dumbed down shenanigans he has avoided.

I don’t think Simon Holt will be pleased to have lost the lucrative ITV job.

It’s a heck of a lot of money he has lost, let alone the humiliation of the snub.

He has since been reduced because of his new-found availability to supplementing his diminished income by doing French racing commentaries for Equidia, as visitors to betting shops will have noticed. I seem to remember hearing him occasionally. Ian Bartlett and John Hunt do the same.

If as it seems Holt has been stitched up and airbrushed from any kind of inclusion in ITV Racing it is extremely petty and personal by them….. he clearly must have upset the wrong person because he is as good a commentator as any of them and his excellent work for C4 should be allowed to be heard.

If anyone has any doubts have a listen to his commentary on Sprinter Sacre’s 2nd QM Champion Chase.Sublime.

    – Holt is a bore, the less we hear of monotone droning voice the better, well done itv for keeping off the channel for as long as they did.

Poor old Francesca obviously hasn’t been taught how to read the prices. The current odds are the ones in orange on the right, dear.
