Thanks for an interesting write-up, and good luck with your new fella.
I’m always interested in seeing whats in the SMP draft, and what the big priced lots are.
Would a ‘private’ fee of 450,000 euros be too much to ask for STS’s services?
The report I saw said 85, 000 euros.
So.. the Aga Khan will host StS at his Gilltown Stud, and has said Zarkava will be covered by him "as soon as possible"…
Any expert any thoughts on this mating? You can get some prices on the foal winning the Arc etc – 100/1 with Laddies. 50/1 to win the Triumph Hurdle with Paddy Power…
The Tsui family retain ownership.
I was at Chepstow yesterday and these are my thoughts on the Nicholls’ runners.
<snip>
I wouldn’t talk in terms of a bug I would think it more a case of Nicholls saying to himself it is a long season and perhaps leaving them a little under-cooked.Colin
Thanks for the comments, Colin. I’ve waited ages for Meanus Dandy to appear under rules so I’m disappointed to hear he still looked weak. I guess we’ll see what happens next but I did think that was an unusually poor show for Nicholls horses.
Part of me would like to see him slowed down by a bug for a while, just to make the season more interesting (and if the bug could be caught by AP to make the jockeys side more interesting that would help too..). Domination of any sport long term isn’t healthy.
But most of me is hoping to see a fit and healthy Denman back on the course this season!
That’s a relief, Sporting Life’s comments said he broke down. Grand old boy.
Sold for £320,000 gns. Not the top lot of the day. Loads of people were in the ring to see the sale. You could have a pin drop while the auction was going on which was in contrast to the rest of the sale.
It was a fascinating atmosphere… I got the impression that none of the big hitters bid for her though – the auctioneer seemed to be imploring the Coolmore team to put their hand up.
At least going to Richard Hannon we know she’ll see a racetrack – Tattersalls Million as a target? Does the new owner breed? I guess she might go through the ring again as a broodmare in the future.
It must be horrible for the connections to witness their horse dragged onto a trailer like that too. I know it’s "real" but people love their horses – sometimes more than people! – and you want some dignity for those you love.
Not sure about other courses but Cheltenham has the horse ambulance, towed by a 4WD, and the box towed by a tractor with a winch. You generally know whether a fall has been fatal or not by which unit heads over.
I would like to see courses publish news on horses that have fallen or pulled up during the day. I accept that there are those taking young children and so on who wouldn’t want to deal with explaining why "the horsie died" but I sometimes leave the course wondering if a particular horse was ok or not. At present the only place you can check is Animal Aid’s website..

Flawed Washington
Martha Dandridge (GW’s wife – they never had any children of their own – perhaps Coolmore should have checked before naming him…)
ShunnedI know part of it will be the way I have FF, but no other forum looks like this….
The post index page font is HUGE – I can only see a few posts before I have to scroll down. I thought they were all separate subforums for a moment. On another forum I use I can see more than 6 posts in the space filled by two on this forum…

Just had a quick look on the RP site – no mention about the moving of races.
Is this something to do with them having time to try to put the divots back in place before the Kerry National on Wednesday???
There was suppose to be a minutes silence here at Worcester – what a shame a significant number of those present chose to ignore it – I sometimes wonder why I bother following this sport when you look at some of those who follow it.
I feel I should point out that as Worcester had a "family fun day" yesterday there were probably a significant number of people there who don’t follow the sport.
Not excusing them, but – especially if the communication was poor – there’s a chance many of them weren’t really aware that two jockeys had been killed in the first place.
Send him hurdling – no gates there!
Well, a 19yo Arab won a race at Barbury Castle back in 2002, and finished 4th in a race in 2003… Not sure how old the jock was though!
He may not be with de Kock any more – this is a useful site

Tower BloodstockThey aren’t quite as bad as the Tote, though. Some time ago I suddenly started getting tons of spam from them so emailed a complaint to customer services. Turns out they’d moved my details (and apparently everyone elses) over to their Bingo arm – just in case I might want to use it, I wasn’t asked – and a member of the bingo provider company stole the details.
Allegedly nothing but the email address was stolen but it would have been a) nicer if they’d told customers at the time and b) hadn’t just decided to enroll me in something I wasn’t interested in….
I’d buy that Rose, some days I convince myself I’m getting it for free and that the monthly subs are for RUK, some days I think I’m paying for RP and getting RUK for free and when particularly drunk I forget I’m paying the subs altogether and laugh for getting them both free.
I’d happily see a pound a month of my subs go to a whale, seal or even a snow leopard.
No, I was thinking they’d try to stop you saving whales… But here you go:

http://www.snowleopard.org/August 15, 2009 at 12:17 in reply to: Fallon – should we be celebrating his return to the sport? #244010Whilst I have mixed feelings about his return, I accept he has "done the time". However, I am getting sick of the huge media push – Ch4 have just said he’ll be with them at York next week, for example.
Given all the moves to popularise racing, I don’t think make a big fuss over someone many people less involved with racing associate with corruption/drug taking/whatever sends out the right message. If you know a bit about racing, then you know Fallon’s good points and can make your own judgements.
