But to be fair to VW, she was doing a very good job with the aforementioned beasts. Why fix something that isn’t broken? Doesn’t make sense.
Not if Paul Nicholls is playing the part of Nicky Santoro. If that happens, you can consider my arrse (I spent some time in Bristle) Indonesian.
Of course there are those who run the sport. But surely the ‘whiter than whites’ such as…
I was going to continue that post but then it emerged that I could be funking with dangerous people. I sincerley hope the sport isn’t like that.
Oh, and Gerald, that wasn’t an aside. That was a very pertinent post which this thread is very much after.
Cheers

Kiwi, don’t worry about it mate. An epic dissertation based on the amount of times I’ve put my foot in it could be written with ease. I was just happy to hear another account of how good the ijf are to and for the industry.
dj… See no evil, blahblahblah no evil? This is obviously a problem is it not? As I mentioned last week, horse racing can be an amazing sport but it could also use a good shot of vitamin moral.
For the record, I don’t care that much for the gambling aspect of the sport. That is strictly in the hands of the individual who chooses to do himself in. The industry has clean hands on that front as far as I’m concerned. (Though the levy… Betfair…)
I said ‘save for’ the ijf. IJF are one of the very few bodies I have respect for. Tbf, they’re incredible.
I’m sorry you misunderstood me.
If anybody wants to sponsor me than I’ll be up for it.
To make it cheaper, I can try to ‘thumb it’ down there but obviously, a northern ride from here would do just as well.
Feel free to pm me if you’re up for some company on the way down.
As far as I’m concerned, unless your ear is pressed against the horses mouth (so to speak) you should never allow words to influence your betting. Should you fall foul of this ethos then you should either give up serious gambling or make some friends.
Gambling is a shít business. It even says so in a book written two thousand years ago. If one doesn’t know this, one shouldn’t feel so pitiful when one gets gubbed. It’s one’s own fault.
But that’s just my opinion…
Hi everybody
Sorry for not getting back earlier on this thread but I have had a funked up week. One laden with poverty, violence, anorexia, heartache, mutually assured destruction, alcoholism and a schmit load of success on a variety of fronts.
I will though reply to the posts on this thread in good time. Great to see some of the good ol’ boys (and girl) on here:)
Indeed.
By all means have the figures published as I’m sure they could be a useful tool for those who can interpret them with a degree of accuracy. I just fear that more often than not, they will prove to be red herrings.
I have no problem seeing a champion being eased into a campaign rather than have it face a stiff challenge less than half a year from the festival.
The Haldon Chase is a good starter for up and comers to show their credentials and for former champions to have a last hurrah.
Besides, if he must have an early season race, Denman has the Charlie Hall.
Excellent post ap. Just a pedantic opinion here.
I don’t believe that the claiming price of a horse can be considered to as a solid form guide. This is because the personal motivations for selling a horse varies for each individual owner.
For example, an owner is finding it progressively harder to pay for the upkeep thus gets progressively more eager to sell the horse. Irrespective of the horse’s ability or expected performance. Thus a falling price could be miscontrued as a lack of faith in such horse.
I saw Canford Cliffs for the first time today and a certain Public Enemy track comes to mind.
I’m doing brilliantly boyo! My life is a constant torrent of ‘win’ ‘win’ ‘win’ ‘fail’ ‘win’.
I’ve just propped you in the lounge mate. Why don’t you go in there and reintroduce yourself? I’d be happy to hear how you’re doing.
All the best
SimonOh, forgot to mention my trf heroes who I hope are still here…
Seabird – top man top of the list. I still owe you a scoop my friend
Dave Jay – the second most politically astute guy on here and a good chap to boot
Grasshopper – taught me many a valuable about womankind. If you’re still rocking teh ganj, I’ll roll you one if I ever meet you
Ian Davies – an arrogant unt with a capital C. I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t still banned but he knows what he wants and he isn’t shy about pißing people off which makes him a man in my books
Gamble – not weird but very complicated
Razeen – one of the most formidable trolls I’ve ever encountered. Had me on my arse on more than one occasion
Paddy the Paddy – star player in my absence
Irish Stamp – young good looking northern lad who knows his horses. I wonder who he takes after
Insomniac – always good for a good argument
That woman who was into System – burroughhill something…there are several others who I can’t remember atmit as it’s been a while.
Also, when I go racing then I would be happy to do irl meet ups. I’ll keep y’all informed as to where and when. It will be a while though because I’m brassic.
When I go racing, I wear whatever the feck I want. If a certain enclosure doesn’t let me in then it’s that enclosure’s loss. I probably wouldn’t want to be around people who actually pay for the privilege to look bland and feel smug about it anywayz.
Glad to be back my friend and I look forward to the inevitable exchanges between the two of us.
