Joni,i’ve been trying to rustle up a bit of cash to stick on

    Sea of Thunder

for Cheltenham and i have come up with a cunning plan…I’m now an ‘Escort’! Signed up on the internet, sent me best picture in and Bobs your uncle.I got my 1st date the other night,i turned up with a splash of Brut all over, filled me ‘Toolbag’ with the necessary! Health n Safety n that! Jumped in the Merc and typed in the address on me Sat Nav,20 mins later i turn up at what looks like an old folks home and Betty Turpin answers the door…Geezus christ, she reckons she was 59……around the waist i thought, now this was going to be a challenge but so is the Cheltenham hill and i want some of the 16/1 so in we go.The chip pan was still warm but there was no offer of food, thankfully i’d had a tin of Rice Pudding to set myself up just in case it was gonna be a long night.Straight to the point she hits me with i’m paying you ‘Young Man’ for SEX,i felt a hint of indegestion coming on but hey needs must and that so its off to her ‘Boudwah’ you know what i mean, she rolls back the flanellette sheets and turns her electric blanket on,i suggest turnin the lights down low,i actually meant Off but she insisted on seeing me in my full glory, well that was it,i’m not shy but i’ve never been one who can whip it up on demand and i felt pressurised,sh*t i thought as me shrimp popped out,i swear to god it looked like a shrivelled prawn, right i said yo gonna have to get on your hands n knees for this to work and i started to concentrate on how ‘Galileo’ and ‘Sadlers Wells’ managed it,Oh yes we were cookin now so i said can i put the lights out now? If you must she replied,i thought she sounded completely different without her teeth in anyway i whipped the lights out and re-mounted Tonto style and gave her the full 5 minutes, feeling like i’d earnt my 200 quid i was a bit put out when she asked me to fill her Hot water bottle but hey customer satisfaction comes first. My next date is on Thursday, she calls herself Georgina and she’s in her 20’s,she must have had a bit of a cold or somethin as she sounded a bit hoarse on the phone…..

Can’t quite see Medermit being good enough for the Ryanair

REALLY? Bearing in mind that was near on a stone he gave the very useful Quantitiveeasing on Saturday and both finished running on very well over C/D i would dissagree there Ginger.Yes Master Minded has beaten him easily at Ascot but he has dissapointed at Cheltenham several times since his ‘performance of a lifetime’ (Champion Chase,08),obviously if the ‘real’ deal turned up he’d win but i’m looking for a new pretender to the 21/2m Crown, one that my fav chaser

    Albertas Run

has worn proudly.I believe so long as a horse is rated around the 165 mark then he,s a worthy Ryanair contender,Medermit ran off 157 at the weekend and has to be raised 5lb for that performance so arguably he’s a player already but what i like about this fellow is he loves Cheltenham and i reckon he’s a good 5-8lb better horse around there, yes at times he can be clumsy and he always seems to hit a flat spot but again he’s never fallen and he responds to pressure,i still believe there’s improvement to come and when i look at the profile of previous Ryanair winners,he fits the bill and guess what look at their records around Cheltenham. Bet365 go 10/1,that would be about right imo. The Tote go a massive 20/1,that is way too big for a horse who certainly gets up the hill.

Gord.Don’t you think the owner have a better horse for Albert Bartlett in SWORD OF DESTINY I love to see him there i would.

And did you see CORBILLY GHOST today he is a decent over hurdles but i think be even better as a chaser next season.

    Darren, your

    Sword of Destiny

has the ‘Baring Binghams’ 2m5f written all over him imo,i think he is ‘speedier’ than

    Sea of Thunder

,having said that i think the latter reminds me more of their winner of the race last year,

    First Lieutenant

,i am still hopeful he makes it to the RSA although breaking blood vessels is concerning, what with

    Quito de la roque

in the Gold Cup i think the Gigginstown horses are a bit special this year.

    Corbally Ghost

beat trees today, too early to say how good this very well bred Grey is but to be running over 3m as a 4yo suggests he’s on the slow side of good!

    You think that’s bad?

Have sympathy for Minatoro Nogueira last night at UFC 140, these are what you call atheletes.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbMc80w4tQA

Not sure i’d call them athletes! It was a good recovery from Frank but he only popped the Minotaurs shoulder out of its socket!
Hardly hittin the deck at 30 mph with a ton a horse about to snap your arm is it Chelters?

To say this thread goes up hill and down dale would be an understatement but then again i always was one for the thrill of a rollercoaster. My analysis of yesterdays Big race (21/2m Gold Cup) epitomises everything that can go wrong with the Punters mindset when you have a run of losers.I suppose a lack of confidence would be the 1st symptom and that spirals downwards after loser becomes loser becomes loser, what inevitably happens to those who allow the mental factor to take over is they start chasing their losses and ultimately get themselves into a serious mess both financially and pyschologically, some even become addicted but that is generally the effect from Winning, there really is nothing like it.In reality a run of winners to someone who has just taken up Horseracing as a serious ‘hobby’ can be the ignition to their ultimate demise as the buzz factor from ‘Deciding selection,Staking to Winning’ is all about ones own personal choices,so the sense of credibilty and Self belief in Winning is sky high and as the saying goes ‘The higher you climb the further you fall’ and its all about learning to fall gracefully, that way,you get up dust yourself down and attempt to climb again.Having done just that for nearly 30yrs,i like to think i have the nescessary tools to return this thread from the doldrums,it would look good if over the year i plan to run it,it went from £10k up to £10k down to £10k up again.Being someone who likes to be positive about things,i know it wont be through lack of confidence in myself that turns things round,i’ll keep it REAL,Win Lose or Draw,i love it and having seen it reach over 30,000 views this morning, its very flattering that others are getting a laugh at my expense.Right then the Ryanair winner is

    Medermit

and that is because i have backed ‘Thisthatandtheother’ ‘Fondmort’ ‘Our Vic’ ‘Taranis’ and the legend that is ‘Albertas Run’ twice, incredibly the only one i never backed Ante-Post was my Gold Cup winner ‘Imperial Commander’!

    Medermit

    £100 e/w 20/1 Tote Ryanair,Cheltenham.

    £7600

    Deireadh Re

went off the 2/1fav there at Cheltenham but it was only ever a one horse race for 2 miles of the race,

    Sea of Thinder

gave the visual impact he was always travelling with another gear in hand and for those on the machine, well it looked like Xmas had come early, plenty of 8’s 6’s and 4’s before going 1/5,only to over stretch at the last and fall! Mark him down as a Cheltenham Banker for the final in March, incidentally the winner touched 140’s to £13 in running!

Just emptied my piggy bank on

    Sunnyhill Boy

in todays Big race at Cheltenham, the ‘Whatever its called this year Gold Cup’.
Funnily enough its his Irish National run that tipped it for me but as i look down a race card i often say to myself what would i kick myself for if it won?

    Calgary Bay

    and

    Medermit

are the 2 that spring to mind,i just cant see the latter not being placed and at 5/2 on the machine looks a solid place bet,the former is just me following one over the cliff! He could surprise and place himself, the ground would be in his favour to do just that.I have a small interest on

    Ghizao

but he’s another who blows hot and cold,it should still be a cracker but at the weights it has to be

    Sunnyhill Boy

    .

    Sunnyhill Boy

    £250 win Betfred 6/1
    £250 win Ladbrokes 6/1

    £7400

    Calgary Bay

declared a non-runner at Doncaster. I assume he’s going to run at Cheltenham and, if so, he has to a carry a bit of sentimental cash.

    Isn’t that right, Gord?

    Bosranic

posts on ‘Big race discussions’ and i bet myself a pound to a penny he’s done

    Calgary Bay

    in todays big race!
Shock, gosh ,horror,no mention of him……….until i spot this at the bottom of his post. What are we like Bos? We know damn well whats going to happen and thats if he’s on an ‘interested’ day.If so he could just about scrape 4th place and thats after flattering to decieve,i was hoping he’d go to Doncaster personally as at the 8/1 offered,i fancied him quite strongly to repeat last years victory up there. At 33/1 i had to have an interest too Bos,4 places and that,i agree about

    Medermit

    , a Grade 1 winner in a handicap,i didn’t think he’d run myself.! I’m on

    Ghizao

at 10/1 e/w and am more hopeful than confident,i’ll take a place now.No i’m afraid the horse that jumps off the page this morning is

    Sunnyhill Boy

,J,Jo,O’Neil is a master at laying one out,he’ll stay all the way and he’s thrown in against Great Endeavour on course form, even 6/1 now looks like Xmas.AP may have to get hard on him though!

Looked for all the world as if he was ridden with the King George in mind,

I wouldn’t dissagree with that reet,i remember Hens triple Gold Cup winner getting beat 7 or 8 years ago in the same race, however

    Somersby

certainly had the best form in the book today on more than one occasion and should simply be going to the King George with half a chance had he won like his form suggested he should,i still have a horrible feeling if he should hit the front before the line so to speak he has the capacity to chuck the towel in too so i’m not at all confident now. Never surrender eh!

I was on Somersby too Gord.
Whether the tongue lolling out had something to do with it.

Not a great ride by Elsworth either.

But may be we’ve just got to face it Somersby is difficult to win with and is temperamentally suspect.

Agree with all the above Ginge, although i couldn’t see his tongue as i was the Window licker stood outside peering through a rain soaked sheet of glass, what i did think though was,Elsworth almost allowed Gauvain a healthy lead, did he think he could cut him down late like he did to a horse twice that of Gauvain in Master Minded. No it was a poor performance all round,if i collect off my King George voucher it will be a miracle after that!

    Sanctuaire

was only 8l behind him lto and is effectively a stone better in. He’s a horse that’s always promised a lot, but rarely delivered because off his propensity to pull hard, but was quite amenable in the Greatwood, and with Overturn likely to set a good pace, has his best chance for a while. At 16/1 generally, (18’s if you’ve red hair  ) looks worth a punt to make the first 3.

    I’ll have Grey hair if

    Sanctuaire

wins this! i hope Brampour runs his race as he’s a good yardstick,Overturn at Cheltenham concerns me even though i backed him for last years Champion hurdle, seemed like a pacemakers role then though,Grandouet will give us a good idea if he is the real deal,i’m not convinced myself and as for

    Menorah

,what beats him wins,i hope they finish in a heap personally!

Well i get in about half an hour ago soaking wet! My vans exhaust fell off coming back from the Glass manufacturers,i manage to limp it into my local Repair centre who tell me they can sort it today, fine, trouble is i had my 2yo daughter with me and have had to carry her home in the rain whilst the van gets repaired, being the sort who thinks on his feet,i remembered

    Somersby

was running in the 2.0pm at Huntingdon so a little diversion to Ladbrokes en-route was the order of the day,he’ll pay fro the £96 repair bill methinks! Little-un has to stand outside for the time it takes me to write a £100 win Somersby as they wont let her in,not even for the 90seconds i’m in there, anyway i take the 5/4 and go outside and watch it through the window,little-uns dozing off in her ‘Snorkel coat’ whilst i take the full force of the weather….If only ‘Somersby’ could put in as much force eh,Poor performance by any account, his form through Master Minded should have seen him good enough! I know the excuse from Hen will be he needs more time between his races, yeh right,so why run him today then?

Gord the target for Junior is the national. he run in Kim Muir but i think it be a prep race for him with national in my mind.

    Darren,

    Beshabar

is being geared towards the Grand National,he’s a Scottish National winner who jumps well and his mark of 150 is very fair as he still has scope for improvement.

    Junior

has been hammered by the handicapper and is going to be difficult to place, his jumping can let him down and the thought of the National fences concerns me,he has the engine but not the wings to take off,a repeat Kim Muir bid would be the plan if Mr Pipe can work his oracle with the handicapper!
