Also – how anyone can distinguish a ‘tap’ from a ‘hit’ from TV coverage (or even ‘live’ from a racecourse stand) is beyond me.
David,do you ever ask yourself ‘Why do I constantly harp on about the bloody whip rules’? Had Timmy ridden by Your version of the rules he would have finished 2nd as would Daryl Jacob on ‘Neptune’ and you would find that acceptable! Why? because the rules are in place to protect the horse would be your answer as it is time and time again and yet both horses actually won because they outstayed the rest of the field,in effect there Stamina and resolve is higher than the competition and their respective jockeys encouraged every ounce out of them to show it, and they did.’Neptune’ proved the best horse on the day won and ‘Merigo’ proved the best ‘handicapped’ horse on the day won. Both horses returned home sound and live to fight another day,Lucky for them, others didn’t and it wasn’t the Whip that killed them! Get over it,you’re becoming obsessed!
Gord have you got any horses to win the derby next year at big prices.CAMELOT is my main bet am on at 25/1.But i think with the horses that are a big price now.Like BONFIRE,JUNGLE BEAT,
SWEEDISH SAILOR and IMPERIAL MONARCH.Darkhorse at ballydoyle he is.
any lighty raced horses you like for the big race at Epsom.I just cant see
Camelot
being a Derby horse at all,a Guineas winner Yes!
Bonfire
,i like a lot,the Mill Reef colours though would be the only connection to winning The Derby imo Darren,11/4m yes but these ‘Night Shift’ sorts have more speed than Stamina, was
Azamour
really a 11/2m horse? Not imo.A horse i was waiting to see was called
Biographer
he is owned by the
Masked Marvel
connections and has a Derby entry but again his breeding is questionable.
Imperial Monarch
did catch the eye at the Curragh and is related to 2 Derby winners in Galileo and Slip anchor,he’ll be a leger sort i’m sure, too much stamina for a Derby winner! The horse i like most but isn’t entered in The Derby is the Godolphin French Colt called
Mandaean
,now he has a look about him!
darren I did back
Biographer
today,e/w of course thank goodness as Ted Durcan never put him in the race at any point! It was a lovely ‘educational’ ride, never touched with the whip and running on very strongly.A 11/4m was always going to be on the short side for this smart looking colt and he did run in snatches, horses do change their legs at Windsor so I wont hold that against him and I reckon so long as the ground isn’t too firm he’ll handle better conditions well,he was very green today and he’ll come on a ton for it.The Lingfield Derby trial is an obvious target if he’s as good as I think he’ll be! I’m still excited about this
Mandaean
colt,I see the ‘Dante’ is being touted as a possible target,I’ve backed him at 25/1 for Epsom.Talking of Epsom I see
Maybe
has taken over from
Wading
as the Ante-Post fav for The Oaks! She is not a 11/2m filly imo!
If there is any improvement to come in Fury it will be over less than a mile. He had arguably optimum conditions yesterday so everything indicates that he is handicapped up to the level of his ability. Mr Haggas will have to fiddle about with him to get a race out of him as he is likely to be raised for his effort yesterday.
Small world Eclipse.I’ve just contributed to your own interesting thread about
Fury
actually stepping up in trip for the ‘Cambridgeshire’,he certainly wont be dropped back in trip,if anything he’s a Group 3 11/4m horse in the making!

Spring Cup
Captain Bertie gained compensation for an unlucky run last time. He did well to repel Fury who was better drawn and looked to be coming to win the race inside the final furlong. Not for the first time, the runner-up has flattered to deceive, he is either a bit of a rogue or handicapped up to the limit of his ability as he has no excuses for defeat today. He is one to avoid.
Avoid
Fury
at your peril Eclipse, that was no mean feat giving ‘The Captain’ a stone yesterday,it wasn’t the horses fault he got beat,in fact he stretched out well when Fallon finally got him through 3 eyes in one needle! He has ‘Cambridgeshire’ written all over him granted usual Autumnal ground and the extra furlong of a Course he excelled at when a 2yo.I’m on at 25/1 already!

Hey Tommy, incredible how these big field handicaps are panning out,you would expect a Jockey of Fallons experience to maximise the fact that his horse was well drawn and at least tuck him in towards the stands side of the ‘arrowhead’ that is inevitably formed when the whole field go centre! No he goes straight up the middle of the whole group……asking for trouble and he got it! William Carson on the other hand positioned his horse perfectly on the far side of the ‘arrowhead’ and suffered no traffic problems at all!
Captain Bertie
has to be rated low 90’s after that run with
Fury
on a mark of 100,The Hunt Cup will see them clash again and ‘Fury’ Will need Soft ground more so than ‘The Captain’ I’ll be on both again though! PM recieved mate, all is fine and Dandy!

Been waiting for that one darren!
Very well regarded at Warren Place! You don’t mean FRANKEL’S BROTHER do you Gord?!!!!
Well at least you haven’t transferred your prejudices to his baby bro! Won nicely didn’t he?!Well I never!

Gord what you think of Merrigo won he did and was fav to.
Am happy CAPTAIN BERTIE held on for me.Will FURY win again keeps getting placed
Do you think NOBLE MISSION will win a trail race as well.
Bloody
Merigo
if he’s not the most leniently treated horse ever my names numpty!
Fury
did everything I expected today darren and he really stretched out well, giving a stone to ‘The Captain’ will prove a fine performance in time to come! Incredibly these so called bias draws in big fields are coming to nothing as again the field all head straight down the middle leaving Kieran with a nightmare passage through, not his finest ride!
KF: I have been told Paul Mulrennan will win easily tomorrow at Nottingham in the 700, MISTRESS OF ROME will love the ground and be held up and hopefully come late and pick them all up.
Taken 5s with 365 and will have some more in the morning if others offer better.

Good work GDC,I only took 5/2 but a winners a winner mate Cheers!
No surprises what I’m on in the Scottish National,he hasn’t got Aintree style fences to contend with this week, mind you he has his own way over getting over ‘normal’ fences does
Junior
!
Top weight is a stopper but this fellow has an engine,he’ll stay alright, granted Good ground he’ll blunder his way round and make them all go,’Portrait King’ is a major danger as is ‘Knockara Beau’ at the weights,as for the ‘Specialist’ ‘Merigo’ No Chance!Bloody fav too!Junior
£150 e/w 16/1 Bet365 (5 places) Scottish National
£625
What you think of JUNGLE BEAT a horse that is trained by Gosden and owned by Tabor and the gang same colours as Seville he is.I find him a intresting horse i do.
Never been a fan of
Storm Cats
progeny Darren,i dont think he’ll stay either to be honest.
Swedish sailor
did win his maiden well,i liked the Cecil/Abdulla colt that day,he will stay no problem but its early days yet.
Been waiting for that one darren!
Very well regarded at Warren Place!I have taken 8/1 in the week with Hills about
Fury
winning the Spring Cup today and have strolled up town to Ladbrokes for the 6/1 today,I was ultra confident of him winning the Lincoln,he got beat a length into 3rd but had the ground been Soft he would have Won,he just didn’t let himself down on the ground at Doncaster and gave the impression he was running on the spot,he’s got top weight but deserves it.A year ago he was being trained for the 2000gns,this Spring Cup will suit a lot more than that and I expect at least a place today,Kieran will shovel the coals on and he’ll respond,we’ll see the ‘Real’ Fury today! The only danger imo is
Captain Bertie
,he too has a profile of a horse on an upward curve,my only concern is he does like a good break between his races but if he repeats his Doncaster Spring Mile run,he’s a massive danger.I’ve taken 9’s and 7’s on the machine for this one!
Fury
£150 e/w 6/1 Ladbrokes
£100 e/w 6/1 Bet365 Spring Cup.£925
Anyone who watched the racing at Newbury today will be singing the praises of both
Vow
and
Sentaril
,both William Haggas trained 3yo maidens, yes both were visually dynamic, particularly the latter,BUT,I’m a Clock watcher and neither posted anything like quality times.
Ektihaam
a failed Dewhurst contender gives a bit more credence to ‘Vow’ but I dont think time will show any Group 1 winners from today. Clocking 2m,20secs tells you the ground was Soft for a 11/4m race at Newbury but thats still bloody slow,on good ground you are defineately looking much nearer the 2min mark!
Captain Dunne
hates soft ground and yet he got through it in the fastest time of the day! Treat todays results with Caution,20/1 ‘Vow’ for the Oaks……….

Paul – you’re probably right, possibly no one cares. But that’s probably because most people are none the wiser. They’d care if they knew they were being ripped off.
Correct, the majority of the once a year Punters dont give a monkeys about the price of their horse but like you say it doesn’t give bookmakers the right to Rip em off and year in year out they see the Grand national as a Bookies Benefit,£50k profit for a days work isn’t bad for the ‘Middle row’ alone, its a helluva lot more for the Big Boys! Anyone who told family and friends weeks in advance to get on either ‘Seabass’ or ‘Shakalakaboombooom’ at 25/1 would have been dissapointed at their 8/1 at the off price! But nobody would question it!
KF: Galaxy Rock and Mostly Bob for me tomoz ante post for the Jockanese national.
In the concluding bumper at Ayr take a look at the debut race of Duke of Navan, finished behind his well backed stablemate on debut and was NOT given a hard race. Hendo normally wins this race and a lot of the top trainers send reps so this lad will be a decent price.

Being a massive supporter of the JJ,O’Neill yard I honestly thought
Galaxy Rock
was being prepped for the ‘Whitbread’ GDC!
YourMostly Bob
will be well suited to the race as he’s as slow as a snail,he’ll be a player at the death though! I’ll take a peak at this ‘Horatio’ Hornblower’…..I mean ‘Duke of Navan’ later!
Any thoughts on the Scottish national i like PORTRAIT KING.
darren the ground is critical for
Juniors
chances,if it pours down he wont run,on genuinely good ground
HE CAN GIVE 2 STONE TO MERIGO
and beat him! ‘Portrait King’ did me a big turn in the Eider,I rate him as the main danger but it reallu depends on the ground! The softer the better for
Fury
though, its too close to call with him and ‘The Captain’!I haven’t had time to watch the maidens yet but I will……….and report back later mate!
Darren incredibly I too am looking forward to seeing (Later on tonight) the Motivator filly
Vow
,
Popular
,
Selfara
and
Revelette
, its a cracking card!
Tomorrow,I cant splitFury
and
Captain Bertie
in the Spring mile, their ‘Doncaster’ performances gives the latter the nod at theses weights!
Gord just to say well done at Aintree Sunnyhillyboy winning would of top it off for you
Saturday was a bad day for the King of foresight darren,Losing my pal
Synchronised
like that hurt………….a lot more than the £5000 I was Robbed of!
Sunnyhill Boys
defeat was a sickener particularly as I was the first person to put him up at 40/1 and had backed him accordingly but I did him e/w and to place so I covered my Ass as per usual. I have spent all week refurbishing my hallway and stairs so haven’t really been watching ‘Live’ racing,I watch all the replays in the evening, what I will say is this
Trumpet Major
has No chance of winning the 2000 gns,
Camelot
will carry him!
