Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread for the past year and to all those who haven’t but couldn’t help themselves reading it!
Thanks to all the Bookmakers for continuing to support me,I hope you all got the publicity you deserved.Corals
for still pricing me any horse for any race I ask and
Bet 365
for laying me still!

Victor Chandler
could well have won some of their money back had they not closed my account with them after having only 1 bet with them,we know what that was eh?
This thread was always going to end after the year was up and it now is,I have one last Ante-Post bet to run so will do a final summary next Saturday.Having seen the thread break the 50,000 views I can honestly say that it was a rollercoaster ride worth riding.Like the other 4 threads I have created in the past it has finished in profit!More luck than judgement? Nah Knowledge and Patience said the Fisherman….I’veGone Fishing
!

I being the King of Loyalty honestly thought
Tidal Bay
was a bloody certainty yesterday,it soon became apparent to me and those who know the horse he jumped with a rounded back something he never did in the past,I knew he would love the slow pace and awful conditions because he is a class horse and always has been,I took the 12’s on the machine midweek and sat and bet him in running at 6’s and 7/2,when he touched 6/4 I thought he will do exactly what he did and saunter home hard held.
Betting in running is the single greatest invention to horse racing
!Its a great feeling when you know your horses after following them for years and yesterdays result is undoubtedly right up there with my finest achievements! This year alone has seen some great Ante-Post successes with the likes of
Calgary Bay
,14/1 Sky Bet chase,
Synchronised
, 16/1 Gold Cup and
Sir Des Champs
,12/1 Jewson. My biggest sickener of a result was having £100 e/w on
Sunnyhill boy
for the National, absolute sickener to be chinned by the Ginger one on the line,he did me a massive turn in the Kim Muir though so I’ll forgive him!
I asked my local Ladbrokes for £100 e/w at their 25/1 and they were quick to say No,not surprised with recent results but i’ll take it as a compliment.
Sanctuaire
£50 e/w 25/1 Ladbrokes, Arkle,Cheltenham.
I being the King of Loyalty made a fatal mistake in the 2m ‘Celebration’ chase yesterday by sticking just to
Somersby
,he ran creditably bearing in mind Dominic along with everyone else gave Daryl too much rope! I have been harping on about
Sanctuaire
since his sprint around Taunton treating every fence with contempt, yesterday he hurdled his fences and never lost ground at any of them.If he repeats that in the Champion chase of next year he’ll give this
Sprinter Sacre
a fright.Physically ‘Sprinter’ is the
Fist
of horses,a powerful brute with plenty of front,he’s a worthy favourite! ‘Sanctuaire’ is the smaller but equally effective sort, much more of a
TAPK
type and we all know how many times these 2 legends of the forum crossed swords!
I’m still kicking myself for not having something on him yesterday, even at 6/4 in running he was never going to get caught!
Although far from certain to get a mile, Casper Netcher does stand "a" chance (I’d say around 25%) of doing so. Less if going puts emphasis on stamina.
Casper might take more after the dam than sire. So there is a fair (
I estimate 25%
) chance of Casper Netcher
staying a mile
.
Right thats twice you’ve come out with that stupid comment! How do you come to that ridiculous figure of governing a horses chance of staying as a percentage? You Muppet! He either stays or he doesn’t you dick so it has to be a 50% chance its one or the other!

darren I think
Somersby
is a certainty tomorrow but I do agree that
Poet
will thrive on conditions,a repeat of his run against ‘Workforce’ and he wins imo!
Totally amazed
First Lieutenant
ran on ground as soft as that at Punchestown today! Totally flabbergasted he ran over 2m! As for going off fav? Unbelievable! Its common knowledge he hates soft ground as he struggles to jump out of it Quote Davy Russell prior to Cheltenham! This horse is a serious Gold Cup pretender for next year, granted the usual good ground he’s a major contender and my No 1 choice!
SANTCUAIRE 2.35 Sandown
Am on him at 50/1 to win Champion chase next year.He lacks the experiance of Somersby and Wishfull Thinking. But he has the potential to be as good as these horses
Had the course been Aintree or Doncaster,I would have given him a chance darren but Sandown will catch him out! On a line through ‘finians Rainbow’,
Somersby
has the beating of ‘Wishful Thinking’,I fancy his chances big time!
Gord i remember you putting up Art Connoissur. To win the golden jubille i just saw entries i am shocked that STRONG SUIT is not given a entry. He would not win at a mile but he got course form and has a lot of pace i think he can be a group one sprinter this year.
Any thoughts on the gold cup at Ascot i think FAME AND GLORY will win.But i think this COLOUR VISION will run a stormer ran well behind him at Ascot champions day.But lackes the experiance of that horse.
And do you think IMPERIAL MONARCH will at Sandown this week am in 2 minds i think he can win.But i also feel he need the run to.
Cant understand why connections haven’t entered
Bronterre
for the Golden Jubilee darren,he travels like a sprinter and looks like one,his Dewhurst shows he’s not a miler unlike
Power
,proper miler that one! y idea of the winner though is
Bated Breath
.
I’ve backedSt Nicholas Abbey
at 25/1 for the Gold Cup and also our
Masked Marvel
at 20/1.
Not really bothered whatImperial Monarch
does this week,he’s a watching brief for the future and like you say further!
Although far from certain to get a mile, Casper Netcher does stand "a" chance (I’d say around 25%) of doing so. Less if going puts emphasis on stamina.
Are you trying to wind me up Ginge? 25%? How the **** do you come to that conclusion???
He’ll get a mile stood on his head!KF: Any views on Parish Hall for the Derby? Nicely bred
Not as imposing as his sire
Teofilo
and not as flashy as
New Approach
but a similar sort to
Intense Focus
his time figure is closely matched with
Dr Devious
and his stamina packed breeding reminds me of
Sir Percys
,funnily enough all the above won the Dewhurst too, several went on to win the Derby,I think you’ll find I like his chances a lot GDC,his 2000gns run (2nd to
Camelot
) will see the 20/1 dissapear rapidly, particularly as he’ll beat the O’Brien wonder horse at Epsom,I believe
Parish Hall
was bred to win the Derby mate!
Time to get on!Although I’d like to see the whip banned entirely I’d be reasonably happy with things as they are, given that no horses have returned marked since last Nov
How do you sleep at night? It troubles you deeply that the whip has ‘Potential’ to leave a mark if used excessively,it doesn’t cause horses injuries that affect there wellbeing or for them to miss a days work and it certainly doesn’t kill them! Horses suffer far more from being cast in their boxes, how does that bother you? A couple of sleeping pills maybe!Or worse than that, they even die from jumping fences! Geez you’ll be on Anti-Depressants next! And you would like to see the whip banned!!!
FfsWell at least we now know that 1 Point equals 1/2p Ginge!
I dont know whether to congratulate you for finding this years Grand National winner by using your skill and judgement or to slate you for ‘profitng’ from backing half the bloody field!
At the end of the day,you consistently make a profit from ‘playing with numbers’I cant call it Gambling as in my opinion thats about backing your judgement, narrowing a field of runners down to just a couple and taking a chance! Your philosophy is defineately ‘Risk Management’ and you limit your losses well.I’d be interested to know if you really are a passionate follower of horses or just a number cruncher who doesn’t really care who wins so long as you profit from the race! Good judges that we are our Similaritys to Horseracing ends there,we are at different ends of the philosophy scale! Keep up the good work though!
I cant fault George Wards contributions to Racing,he saw it as a platform for huge pulicity for his printing businesses at a time Photography was huge, particularly the 35mm format besides I liked his Grey horse
Padre Pio
,useful sprinter! He may well have been a ‘Slave Driver’ but that philosophy was rife in Horse racing at the time too……..Still is when you dig a bit!

GDC,
Fathom Five
went right off his racing last year but he runs off his lowest ever mark of 82 today,he’s actually weighted to beat
Jamesway
on their ‘Dash’ form easily,if ‘The Moores’ have him fresh and ready he wins!
Ginge,Magnanimity
is a horse I have always liked, but then again there isn’t many Gigginstown horses that I dont like,I have supported him on the machine at big prices but only to fivers,I’m not going to say I’m over confident but a place would do nicely! A repeat of his Irish national run upto the 3m point gives him a squeak!
Eclipse,Deep Purple
is the only horse I fear,he has the beating of ‘Tidal Bay’ on their Huntingdon form and his impressive victory round C/D to Saturdays makes impressive reading, why ‘Major Malarkey’ is fancied to beat him I have No idea! 16/1 is a solid e/w bet! Its about time you posted a bloody winner on here!

The Whitbread has long been a favourite of mine going back to the days of those famous Pink colours of Fred winters
Plundering
,I remember an old fav of mine
Kildimo
giving weight to the legendary
Desert Orchid
in the 1987 renewal and giving him a fright jumping the last.’Kildimo’ was one of those characters who had his quirks,he was a long backed horse who never seemed to be able to arch it over a fence,he was a frustrating character too but he did win over the National fences after ‘Harvey Smith’ had re-educated him,he reminds me an awful lot of
Tidal Bay
and I can see Sandowns unique test bringing the best out of this fellow.Top weight concerns me none as if ever there was a ‘Top Weights’ course its Sandown,he’ll never get run off his feet round there as its not a Gallopers Course, the quick succession of fences might just keep this fellow interested,as for the opposition, not one of them is anywhere near the class of this old rogue,I can see a big performance coming!
Tidal Bay
£150 e/w 10/1 Bet365 Whitbread Gold Cup.
£325
Nice one GDC! Keep up the good work!

I did say in the thread title KF – if you’re fed up of the whip debate, don’t read the thread!!
Fair comment!
