Can you actually make up a book off your own back Ginge which would be anywhere near the starting prices on the day.

For example can you give the Scotty Brand Handicap Chase at Ayr an Saturday a try and have it up by the end of racing today?….there will be non runners but I’m just wondering if you would have the faintest idea which horses would start favorites and in what order if you didn’t have the RP as a guide.

I certainly couldn’t just wondering if you could

    I’ll have a go Hurdy!

    Junior

    2/1fav

Now let me see what price he really is on Oddschecker….
Wow 12/1! Get on,so long as the ground stays on the Good side he’ll carry the weight! ‘Merigo’ and ‘Portrait King’ for the places!

Any thoughts on the race at Newmarket this week. One horse i been waiting for is JUNGLE BEAT.Only a maiden winner but won well and owned by Coolmoore with Gosden has the trainer.A horse i be intrested in following this season.

    Well I’ll be cheering on

    Lilys Angel

today, she deserves a chance at this level,we’ll see how she’s developed over the winter. At least her fighting spirits already there so fingers crossed!
    I’m afraid I rate this

    Perrenial

(2/1’s all gone) a bit higher than ‘Jungle Beat darren but today will tell us who’s wintered the best,Money talks with the ‘Tabor’ horses so if he goes off Fav,you’re in!

‘Joe Public’ are nothing more than the Rabbits staring at the headlights of the Bookmakers about to run them down they dont question the SP of the Grand National and they certainly dont ask how a certain price is created.Bookmakers have always had the Punters Pants down their odds compilers dont sit in a darkened room and miraculously all come out with the same prices for a race they communicate and coerce. When a punter walks into a Ladbrokes shop for example and miraculously gets a £10k bet on a horse Ante-Post say at 10/1,Ladbrokes cut the said horse into 8/1 and surprise surprise so do all the other Bookmakers even though thay haven’t taken a penny,How come? As for ‘Seabass’ and ‘Shakaklakaboomboom’ was there a queue of punters right across the boards all holding a grand in their hands waiting to bet on both horses? Nope just the bookmakers communicating to one another as to which horse shall we slash next, irrelevant of how much money had been taken for it……and so it goes, always has and always will because nobody questions Why and how!

If a Bookmaker works to an over-round of 110% for example,it doesn’t matter if he takes 1 million pound or 10 million, the odds remain the same.Aintree Bookmakers are making a fortune slashing odds just before the off, both

    Seabass

    and

    Shakalakaboomboom

were available at 20/1 a week before the race and yet both return 8/1 jt fav! They think by pushing out the no-hopers ‘Tatenen’, Arbor supreme’ and ‘Postmaster’ to 100/1 that will justify their greed! Its the only race of the year that bookies get away with it because there’s 100’s of millions up for grabs! I know bookmakers that will tell you ‘Seabass’ would have been a good result for them! Why? because there never was a public gamble! I too am fascinated to hear your explanation Ginge about pricing maidens up!

How may of the 70,000 actually saw a horse or any racing – most were probably there to pour as much alcohol down their necks as possible.

You’re getting confused with Every meeting at Doncaster Paul! Joe Public supports the Grand National year in year out because its an institution, its one of the few ‘I was there’ moments of the year and hopefully always will be.When the paying public fork out £70 just to get into Tatts you know they want their monies worth and they get it! Ask 99% of them tomorrow which 2 horse died and you’ll get 90% of them saying they cant remember,Why? because its not an issue in their everyday lives, its yesterdays News.I find it a huge confidence boost for the state of British horse Racing when events are well supported by the Public, they just aint interested in the Bloody RSPCA Sh*t stirrers! Now then will

    Junior

    win the Scottish National?

was one of those. What sits uncomfortably for me is the fact that he was NEVER A GRAND NATIONAL HORSE,I could see it as could many others so why couldn’t connections,

Bullshit Gord, No one on the planet could have known how Synchronised was going to take to the fences, least of all a would be punter who’s never jumped a fence in his life. Red Marauder shouldn’t have run either I suppose?

‘Red Marauder’ was one of the flookiest winners ever so dont even go there!I’m not professing to know every horses idiosyncrasies (fav word at the moment) but I sure as hell knew

    Synchronised

,my assessment of his Welsh National and Gold cup performances were word perfect,he caught me out in the Lexus but he did most. You watch the way he jumps the first 5 fences again,he’s all over the shop almost sideways at every one,he never jumps a fence big because he cant he generally flys at his fences and skews on landing so how the hell was he supposed to jump Aintree? I said ‘Junior’ would do exactly the same and I said ‘Calg’ would float over them,my judgement was spot on as is generally the case! And before you mention ‘Sprinter Sacre’! He still scares me every time he takes off! When he comes a cropper and he will it will hurt! He’s too lairey bit like yourself Hurdy!

    The Gold Cup winner

    Synchronised

was the key horse as to whether the ‘latest’ whip rules were a success or not at Cheltenham.31/4m on Good ground was always going to catch the once regarded 4m plodder out and AP was on a hiding to nothing.I counted a mere 7 strikes from what was not the greatest of footage to assess just how many made contact as most were down the shoulder as taps to keep him focused,Ap was pretty animated all the way round with a lot of urging/cajoling with feet and strong hands,’Synchronised’ responded to every ounce of AP’s urgings and powered home,he had a hard race but defineately won within the guidelines. The Grand National is a different ball game again.’Synchronised’ is burdeoned with 11-10 a helluva weight,he’s been there before in both Midlands and Welsh Nationals but not over fences like these,my main concern is he ‘skews’ a lot of his fences and lands on the shoulder,he wont get away with that at Aintree,if he can overcome all thats in front of him and its a bloody lot, irrelevant of ‘how well handicapped’ he is on paper, its a mammoth task and one that will test even his resolve,if he does win he will be a very tired horse ahorse who will have a lot of Joe Publics money on so the merchants of doom will have a field day if anything untoward comes of him.I hope AP gives him the respect he deserves and doesn’t thrash him home. He’s The Gold Cup Winner and owes none of us fans of his anything.Anywhere other than Aintree he would have been a good thing! The good thing is he returns home safely!

Chokes me to read that! I never had a penny on him for the race as I was totally convinced he wasn’t a Grand National horse as I was ‘Junior’,thankfully he lived to fight another day! Its all well and good saying these horses are bred to run and Jump and yes they are but like humans they have their idiosyncrasies that give them their individual identities and thats what attracts us to them,

    Synchronised

had plenty,he was a small but powerful gelding with a beautiful ‘Sadlers Wells’ blaze, apparently he was a laid back individual at home and that was shown yesterday when he broke free,he never panicked he just cantered around looking about the place, that incident was caused by the starters line crossing the track causing several horses to spook ‘Calgary Bay’ nearly did the splits!

    GET THE BLOODY THING SORTED

,simple thing like that…….As for butterfingers trying to loop the rope onto the peg for the umpteenth time…Beggars Belief! I wrote about him on here more than anyone,he was the first horse I backed when I turned Pro so I feel more attached to him than some,he did all of his loyal supporters and connections proud and will be sorely missed! Call me all the soppy so and so’s you like,I can take it! My bottle of champers is still on Ice,it was meant for ‘Calg’ ‘Sunnyhill’ or ‘Junior’,I’ll drink it later watching

    Synchronised

doing what only he could do! :(

Synchronised was a VERY good horse – not sure why his forms being crabbed :?

Of course, now he won’t be able to prove any doubters wrong. That’s racing. Let the conjecture continue

    Zip

    Au contraire Zip

    Synchronised

proved his doubters well and truly wrong by winning 2 consecutive Grade 1’s in his inimitable way.His Gold cup victory will live long in my memory a truly remarkable performance from both horse and Jockey and anyone who knocks that is talkin Sh*te!

You don’t take risks like that with a Gold Cup winner :?

Nothing wrong with Gold cup winners running in the race ‘Homer’ but you need a horse who is a natural jumper of fences, even then they will be tested over Aintrees unique obstacles.I thought ‘Rough Quest’ Gold cup runner-up was a good thing for Aintree as he bounced over park fences,’Synchronised’ skewed his way over them and even then it looked like that was an effort, look at the way he jumped the first 5 today, almost sideways, anyone would think he was trying to straddle his fences like an old High jumper would at the Olympics!

You have made an excellent case for abolition KF.

Only to those who cant face reality Eclipse! I tell it as it is and am well aware of the idiosyncrasies the race posesses, thats why it has and always will be different"

Should do all we can to make the race as safe as possible without destroying the spectacle.

IMPOSSIBLE! Its The Grand National Ginge, 41/2m thats a long way on good ground a nightmare on Heavy! Fences like the side of houses, horses dont know whats hit them when they jump Bechers and the Canal turn. 40 horses trying to position themselves sensibly and when there’s half a dozen loose ones wandering about I dont think you can change that and still call it The Grand National!

Horse racing fans have to accept the Grand National is part of our Heritage, its Historical ties should remain as they are.We can accept our troops will die in these ridiculous ‘Wars’,we can sure as hell accept our Horse Heroes will do the same around Aintree!

‘Insomniac’ is a Realist,I respect that, horses do die in the name of Horse racing all too often and most of us accept that as an occupational hazard unfortunately.Nobody gets attached to ‘their’ horses more than me and

was one of those. What sits uncomfortably for me is the fact that he was NEVER A GRAND NATIONAL HORSE,I could see it as could many others so why couldn’t connections,I’ve said it on numerous occassions his heart was bigger than his jumping ability but it was just that, that got him from one side of a fence to another and the will to win that saw him battle like a lion,I’m writing this with frustration, anger, sadness and a pride that I saw the talent in this fellow a long time ago! RIP Soldier!

    According to Pete

was a freak death,as he fell I wrote in my notebook to back him for next years race,he was still a major contender so I was just as shocked he died too,Sad day but hey thats The Grand National, dont confuse it with day to day horse racing because its totally unique and addictive in a sad sort of way!
