    What on earth has

    Time for Ruperts

poor form got to do with the way Will Kennedy rode him? Absolutely nothing, the poor lad has lost the ride in favour of Denis O’Regan.Changing jockeys is nothing more than a last ditch attempt at saving face for trainer Paul Webber, the horse hasn’t been right since he burst a blood vessel in the RSA when sent off fav.Talk about deperate measures, its a sad fact of racing that Loyalty is a word lost to those who profit from greed and selfishness.I for one hope Will gets another top class horse and shows connections of Time for Rupert that it was the horse not the Jockey who lost its form.

I think ante post each way is often a bad idea.

Fair enough Kasp, each to their own but seeing how its you and you were always complimentary about my ‘Prophet with an F’ thread,i’ll give you a Rock solid Ante-Post e/w bet for the festival, barring injury he runs in the Kim Muir again and he’s 12/1 with Stan James,Come the day,we will lump on big time, just like we did last year except we were on at 16/1 Ante-Post and he returned 3/1fav,you could still get 6’s on the morning of the race but it was the Gamble of the festival. The horse is called

    Junior

    RIIIICCCCKKKKKYYYYYY!
(Said in Patsy Palmers inimitable screech)
    Calm down.

Have you not noticed how those of us who are vociferrous in our
dissagreements with those who are happy to be lead like lambs to the slaughter have been singled out! ‘Pinza’, ‘Eddie Case’ ‘Ricky Lake’ and yours truly have all incurred the wrath of Corm and his Merry Men,I love it,its called debate. When it comes to instigating a bit of movement,i like to think i’m a master at it! If keeping it REAL is a crime,i’m guilty M’lud but the prosecutors can either respond or ignore, nobodys forcing anyone to read my drivel.Corm knows exactly what a wind-up merchant i am,the titles of my threads suggest a ‘Machavellian'(Pinzaesque) approach to debate. Now of course the paranoid among us may think we are being ‘weedled out’ and then Banned! Ethnic cleansing of TRF by ‘David the Dictator’ Nah he’s better than that and he knows it!

Given that Timmy Murphy is the only jockey who has won on Ghizao over obstacles, the fact he is not riding him must be something of a negative.

Perhaps connections are keen to do an

    Exotic Dancer

    with

    Great Endeavour

    .I’m of the opinion that

    Ghizao

was all about last years Arkle,he flopped, not for the 1st time but when he’s good he’s very good, at 10/1 i like to think i have my bases covered. If

    Calgary Bay

goes to Doncaster i’m going too, with my new Sony a77,just to get a portrait for my office wall.I’m a big softie when it comes to photographing horses!

KF – travel a little further north and you’ll discover that the only REAL pudding is the white pudding. (So long as you don’t count the haggis as a pudding of course).

Being a ‘Fifer’ i’ve had them all,’Potted Heed’ too,i know a REAL Pudding when i see one Corm!

How people like Paul and Rob can not be described as "REAL" racing fans, baffles me.

    ‘On a night like this,
    i deserve to get kissed
    at least once or twice’
You come over to my place
    screaming Blue murder
    needing somewhere to hide’

The definition i am making Paul is that the REAL racing Fan has lived with the whip and its implications for centuries, horses survived a proper whip from the past and they will certainly survive the latest friendlier edition.

    In your opinion!

Racing has been in its purest form for the past 100 yrs Paul,Horse,Jockey,Trainer,Whip, all together trying to win!

Which pre-supposes that the whip is necessary to whip. Now the rules have changed a bit, but I can’t ever recall a rule which said that jockeys have to use the whip!

I understand your view and I can understand why it is put forcefully. However, what I can’t understand is how you cannot entertain the possibility that someone who disagrees with you is a ‘REAL racing fan’.

I understand the reason why the whip rules were brought in. I’m not happy in the way it’s been administered and I don’t think either the BHA or PJA come out with an awful credit over the whole business.

If you don’t think I’m a ‘REAL racing fan’ then I suggest you join me paddock side on a freeze your wotsits off day like Musselburgh yesterday. Believe me I live and breathe the sport.

It really does amuse me when certain parties here refer to Mr Cormack’s henchmen. It really has shades of the bogeyman!

KF: What are your thoughts on

Hen loves the race and the course and going will suit Somersby fine. I was worried about Medermit but they look like going for the Race at Cheltenham now.

    BTW

    8)

If i could get 6/4 now i would take it about

    Somersby

winning the Peterborough Chase GDC,i doubt whether the 2 principle dangers will run

    The Nightingale

    and

    Noble Prince

,if they did, expect 9/4 and still take it,he’s tailor-made for it imo.

    Divers

    has a bit of the

    L’antartiques

about him so i wouldn’t totally dismiss him,BUT he’s had too many races to say he has the scope of the likes of

    Ghizao

    and

    Quantitiveeasing

    ,i prefer both of them.

At the risk of being accused of being a stooge

Kingy are you not making a presumption that your definition of a REAL racing fan is the correct and only definition?

I can see where you are coming from but attitudes change over time, what was acceptable 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 years ago may not be acceptable now.

It happens in society and it happens in racing.

Now not all change is perceived to be good but change, thankfully, happens.

I’m old enough to remember when drinking and driving was socially acceptable and the outcry when the breathalyser was first introduced with drivers flagrantly breaking the rules but nobody backed down on the rules – now it is, in most circles, highly unacceptable to drink and drive.

I have no doubt that if the current whip rules remain in place as they are (apart from some minor tinkering with the count in NH races) that in a few years people will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about.

I would put it to you that REAL racing fans are happy to embrace change and not remain in a stagnant position.

Taking your argument to its logical conclusion REAL racing fans would be happy for spurs still to be used, for there to be no interference rules, for racecourse rails to be made of wood and concrete – how far would you like to go back so that racing takes place in its purest form?

One interesting question arising from your definition – are those who follow racing and who have no interest in betting not REAL racing fans?

PS – I’m not trying to pick a fight – just give a contrary viewpoint.

    Eloquently put as usual Paul.

Ginge, i hear what you are saying and again its a case of horses for courses, you do considerably well ‘covering your bases’ with several runners in each race,i used those horses as an example as to how far back i could actually go with my success rate, just on placed returns. My Ante-Post record of backing winners at big prices is actually 2nd to nobody and there have been plenty on here.I spend the majority of my time backing horses at inflated Betfair prices and very often laying them off in-running at way shorter prices,i dont include any of my Betfair wagers on this thread and never have done as you cant foresee what price you will get in running if you do lay it off,not that you always can anyway.Of all the years i have dabbled Ante-Post i would say my biggest mistake was laying off

    Fleeting Spirit

at 12/1 prior to the race, having backed her at 42’s down to 16’s on the machine and several High st wagers e/w at 12/1 and 10/1.I should have layed her in running at 1/2 just when she bumped ‘Main Aim’ but you live and learn, apart from my recent selections on here i am very happy betting e/w Ante-Post.You have found a successful ‘System’ for want of a better word and i praise your consistency!

Rick-stir, if The Boss or Matron choose to ban me – then so be it – I’ve certainly given Matron reason to do so in the past  and makes no difference to me!

Pete, Since i joined the forum 3 years ago of all what i would describe as regular contributors, there are only 2 on here that should have been banned,

    Armchair Jockey

for being a devious little B*stard and that character who called himself

    Mr Wilson

,he threatened to ‘Smash my face in’,can you believe anyone on here would want to do that? What i cant understand though is why when i describe what a REAL racing fan is,(One who supports the nescessary action required to encourage a horse to win a race with a whip) and those who call themselves racing fans but get squeamish at the above said description.REAL racing fans are positive, passionate characters who are prepared to risk their hard earned cash in return for a hard earned victory at times, thats REAL Horseracing, not 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, Oh S*it how many times can i hit them,i’m sure i did 3 on the first lap or was it 4….S*it here comes another fence pay attention Crap!

Gord i like your thoughts on these 2 horses.SIR DES CHAMPS though he beat trees i still think he turn into a smashing chaser. i see Mullins said he drop him back to 2ms next. but he did this with Cooldine as well when he was 3rd behind Follow The Plan so i hope he goes to Moraity after this race then to RSA where he be a big player.

And other horse is INVICTUS Beat Gift Of Dgab very easy today another chaser going places this fellow will be better than WALKON over fences in my mind.

    Invictus

has done all thats been asked of him effortlessly Darren but i have to dissagree with you about him being better than

    Walkon

,he seems to have been around forever and yet has only just jumped a fence,he’ll go a long way if he remains injury free imo.Invictus will be tested when he meets proper horses,i hope he rises to the challenge as you are never far away with your own assessment of them.

    Sir Des Champs

,possibly the eyecatcher of the festival,i like him a lot,i dont think he’s a Gold Cup horse at all though,if he jumps fences the right way at Cheltenham i can see him winning his owners race (Ryanair) one day.Top class 21/2m Chaser imo.
