However, your treatment of, and insults to, those who disagree with us is offensive and shameful. Hopefully at some point in your life you will learn that actually listening to those who have opposing views (without insulting them) is both challenging and rewarding.
Mike
Mike, from your above post i take it you never frequented the ‘Lister Bar’?

Divers could be the one to upset the apple cart,
In a match i would go 4/5
Quantitiveeasing
11/10
Divers
bearing in mind they are weighted to Dead-heat on Festival form,i reckon the Henderson horse has the more scope for improvement and see him as a major danger, however
Ghizaos
overall profile has a distinct edge to it.
This place has got so confrontational.

Wrong Ginger, your idea of debate is one where everyone agrees with a Gentlemans tip of the cap,i have noticed over the years you get squeaky Bum syndrome when things get heated.Your views on the whip debate are based on what you have been told to believe by those who have created them so you are basically a nodding dog going with the flow, its not your nature to say ‘Whoa hold on a minute, this is not going to work’.I would have thought the amount of Carpet Grippers you’ve laid in your time would have toughend you up a bit!
I on the other hand am having to listen to the constant sound of those who know whats good for the game telling me a horse wont find any extra for a crack or 10 of the whip,i know it will and have seen as much in the past 30yrs of studying Horseracing,The Minstrel
proves that when winning The Derby and
Ballabrigs
winning The National. Supporting these changes only adds fuel to those who want to see an end to Horseracing in this country, they will be telling us next that a 2yo horse is too young to be racing, then a 12yo is too old! Remember when Humans could think for themselves?
P.S. good to see that you are a self appointed tester of other forumites Kingfisher.
Have I passed ?
As if I care !Coggy,i can spot a ‘Fake’ a mile away and believe me we have had a few on here.Dont worry though you’re not one of them!

Good luck with your
two
bets Gord.

Ginge, you cant be faulted for your ‘Protection racket’ i see you even backed ‘Sizing’ at the weekend,it protected your stakes on the other 2 so i’m not going to criticise that.At the end of the day its all about Not losing,so well done.
My own philosophy regarding Ante-Post betting e/w is,if i snaffle a big price on a horse i can see being targeted for a particular race i certainly want to make a profit and on occassions i would be more than happy to place only, particularly if there’s a short priced fav in the Ante-Post market. I backedDancing Brave
at 12/1 e/w for the Derby,placed,
Exbourne
at 16/1 for the 89 Guineas,placed,
Bellotto
at 16/1 for the 87 Guineas,placed
Lycius
at 40/1 for the 91 Guineas,placed
Silver Patriarch
at 20/1 for the 97 Derby,Placed and dozens more so you can see why i do it.

Someone thinks Ghizao will stay his odds have halved in the last 4 hours.

Yeh i do mate but i only got 10/1 this morning!
Fine specimen of a horse,Ghizao
beat
Captain Chris
over 2m at levels around Cheltenham and some thought it was a fluke,he only goes on to give 10lb to the same horse over 2m 2f at Newbury and stuffs him (Arkle Winner) again. There’s nothing better handicapped on that sort of form and i believe the trip wont be a problem, his fencing might be his achilles heel but i’m hopeful.
Eclipse,i tested you a while back and you passed, your posts have certainly earned my respect and i too like Ricky enjoy your contributions particularly for ‘one from the other side’ keep up the good work.
Ricky, whats rattled me is the fact that i had allowed the Whip situation to settle down and was happy to see how things panned out and then i read total Tosh about 99% B*lls*it this and that and Corm of all people suggesting that because 0 horses from 8000 runners returned free from Weal marks over a completely inadequate period compared to the massive 2 from 8000 that had,
required my response just to let these sensitive souls know that they can kid themselves around their camp fire but they wont pull the wool over my eyes! Their fragility doesn’t belong in robust debate, particularly when its quite apparent that the thought of a horse receiving 1 backhander over the odds makes them weak at the knees.Had the BHA stipulated that the rules allowed 10 strikes at Aintree, these drama queens would be exposed yet again as just that! This debate has certainly seperated the Men from the Boys,in what is historically a Mans game! Can you imagine either of those races run without a whip Eddie?
Horseracing epitomises all things good….Passion,Power,Grace,Excitement,Bravery. All words associated with Whips flailing in a do-or-die finish. Its races like those that give us thrill seekers a buzz and what makes Horseracing ‘The Sport of Kings’,perhaps a Government Warning should be attached for those on here who shall we say lack a bit of moral fibre and are perhaps just a little bit out of their comfort zone!
If you had your way Mr Fisher I supposed you’d like to see jockeys drawing a feather while you tuck in to your poorly shot grouse?
Comparing Fred Archer with Lester Piggott is like comparing a petit Chablis with a Grand Cru! Had you said Robert Earnshaw and Fred Archer,i wouldn’t have dissagreed. Its a good sign to have ‘Shot’ in ones Grouse by the way,its the REAL way to serve it! No doubt you are a veggie yourself Eclipse eh?

How do you know, did you interview everyone interested in racing? You mean nobody with a public platform criticised it and that is true, but that, and the fact that the horse ran well afterwards, don’t together mean that Piggott didn’t flog the horse mercilessly, because he did. Saying that is not being a wimp, it’s having a germ of humanity
Look ‘Mighty one’,if you find Lesters ride on
The Minstrel
gruesome, dont watch the first 20 mins of ‘Saving Private Ryan’ Ffs,that is as close to REAL as you would get in the REAL world, your likes are in the wrong sport, take up 10 pin bowling or something!

The Minstrel
winning the 1977 Derby, had Lester not given his mount the full 14 strikes of the whip,Robert Sangster and his phenomenal bloodstock empire wouldn’t be what it is today, such was the importance of the ‘ride’ on that famous day!
Corm,Coggy,Ginge,Eclipse and the rest of you who falsely call yourselves REAL racing fans Dont look!

I think you’ll find a fair few who thought The Minstrel was abused, whatever the rules at the time. Gruesome exhibition from Piggott.
No, nobody questioned the ride at the time and funnily enough in a poll of Lesters greatest rides
The Minstrels
Derby victory came 2nd only to
Sir Ivors
Derby win with
Royal Academy
in 3rd. Now for a horse so ‘Gruesomely’ ridden ‘Mighty M’,you would think he would have been scarred from it but again No!,he only went on to win the Irish Derby and The King George! He was an incredible horse who responded to Lesters urgings with the heart of a Lion, but hey that was REAL racing for REAL race fans, not for you faint hearted wimps!

So, you are an advocate of the disqualificatiom option KF to prevent such chicanery?
That would be the worst case scenario and an end to any hope of a compromise, punters would leave in their droves. What my post is suggesting is that when fools make rules that are impossible to adhere to for many reasons, one has to exploit the situation whereby ones efforts are not in vain. Its not rocket Science,if i were a Jockey who had just ridden the Grand National winner but was penalised because i broke these whip rules i would expect connections to ‘see me right’,have you never heard of the ‘Old Pals Act’,its what loyalty is based on and in this instance when a group of people are working as a team,ie Owner,Trainer, Stable staff and Jockey its wrong that the latter is the only one to be punished, his team will ensure that the Jockey is reimbursed,no question. If we didn’t have these ridiculous rules there would be no need to go down this particular road, the BHA have opened a can of worms and its becoming a free-for-all.By the way did you used to give the bookie his money back when you won on what would be a disqualified ride in the past? No thought not! Is that not Hypocritical? Bloody right it is!
I’m extremely confused. You’re saying the owners will pay him his money out of the prize money they receive?
No problem Sacred,i’ll explain, hypothetically of course.
I have a fine Chaser called ermBrown Nose
,i pay £17k a year for him to be trained,he’s taken to fences and i would love him to win at the Cheltenham festival, his trainer reckons the Ryanair is right up his street,we get there in one piece and have taken all the 12/1 available Ante-Post,he’s well backed on the day and goes off at 4/1,our Jockey knows whats at stake so we dont need to mention the rule thing,he’s part of our team along with family friends and stable staff,we’re all on big time,’Brown nose’ pings the last but so to does the 2/1 fav,its a war of attrition up the hill and our jockey has to go over the allowance of 8 strikes by just the one,he gets his due rewards from the stewards and a hand shake from me!
We’re all happy as larry! Are you with me?So why did you say that he won’t lose a penny?
Have you got Jet lag?

But of course these bans and rules will mean absolutely nothing for 4 days in March and 1 race in April.
They meant nothing to Aidan Coleman yesterday,he wont lose a penny, thats how the powers that be operate, turn a blind eye would accurately reflect the little loop holes you could skip through!
So the stewards gave him a pardon? Why?
No Sacred, the stewards didn’t give him a pardon, they have fined him his riding fee and win percentage, thats the rules. The horse keeps the race, all bets paid in full and owner gets their prizemoney,it was a nice race to win!
