I do believe Master Minded will be just as good over three miles in time and will win a Gold Cup. His sire Nikos was of course responsible for another Nicholls two miler in Cenkos but he was also responsible for Aintree runner up Encore Un Peu and Betfred bridesmaid Eric’s Charm. Couple that with his damsire Garde Royale, sire of Aintree runner up Royal Auclair, conqueror of Denman Nicanor and Festival winner Garde Champetre and his pedigree coupled with his undoubted class will see him flourish over longer, of that I have little doubt.
They also play "The Staunton Lick" by Lemon Jelly as background music a lot.
Denman would not stay in a National. If he’s running off 185 or thereabouts he has no hope of seeing out the trip.
I would like to point out that nothing with STRONG GALE in its immediate pedigree has ever finished in the first four home in the National and there have been many to attempt it. STRONG GALE in fact has one of the worst records in Aintree history (in 1996 there were four Strong Gale geldings alone in the line up of 27 and not one could reach the frame). Presenting too has now had a fair number of runners over four miles and so far not a single one has won. I WANT Denman to run in next year’s National as that means I can easily discard at least one runner from my calculations.
Me, all three days.
In the Platinum County Lounge on National day and am intending to overwork the hostess!
1.05 Chomba Womba
1.40 Laustra Bad
2.15 Franchoek
2.50 Carruthers
3.30 Denman

4.40 Magic Sky
5.20 FreeloaderI’m sorry.

Again, I can’t help it. It is possible to be too enthusiastic, as she proves!
The C4 team are extremely stale now and despite his greatness in the saddle I simply don’t listen to Francome anymore for he only seems to select rank outsiders for no other reason than they looked good when winning a walkover at a windy Wincanton. Thompson is simply a twit, Leslie knows absolutely chuff all about National Hunt and it’s debatable whether she knows anything about anything apart from purchasing hideous knitwear from cheap catalogues. The fe-mail although informative when on the course re the exchanges cannot even read emails out without stuttering like Tom O’Brien after a winner and tries to disguise her inadequacies by wearing a silly hat or a flesh coloured microphone that makes it look as though she has a large zit on her cheek. Don’t get me started on that fat bloke that sits next to her and their token Irish guest for Cheltenham Ted Walsh was more of a horse thrasher than whsiperer and I just don’t like him….I can’t help that…..and Mike Cattermole should be presenting fresh, inovative Jazz on the Fast Show.
Jim McGrath (not be confused with the BBC’s "he’s pulled it outta the fire", "as they race past the judge", "he’s home for all money", Jim McGrath) is the only decent one they have. At least RUK are informative and can be witty without being crass but they would be best advised to ditch the blundering blunderbuss that is Hattie Jacques……………sorry, I’ve just been told her name is Lydia.

Things to keep in mind for the Hexham four miler tomorrow.
Hello Bud is related to 1993 void national winner Esha Ness but both he and Top Cloud have the very significant stamina influence Le Bavard in their pedigree so it should really be a match between these two at the business end.
Personally I think I’ll go with the fav.
Good luck

Highflyer
Whereabouts in Sevenoaks??? That’s my hometown.
Could of been worse. The festival could have been held at Haydock in which case all the fences would have blown away last seen careering down the M62!!
Thought it v.amusing that Edward Gillespie said that he had ALL the names and addresses of those who purchased tickets for today and they will be refunded automatically.
That means those who sold tickets on ebay will not only have had there money for selling them but they will also receive the refund!!!! Brilliant!
2:00 Cork All Star
2:35 Kruguyrova
3:15 Catch Me
4:00 Abragante
4:40 Royal Auclair
5:20 River LianeI had considered KJC but I don’t know enough about him from a pedigree perspective.
From a form perspective he hasn’t won beyond 2m 3f, which would be the main concern but I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on his damsire Fujiwara. Doesn’t look as if he raced and doesn’t look as though he was a stamina based influence.
Admittedly having Black Apalachi and Chelsea Harbour behind over three miles looks good although BA had had a tough race not long before.
Choose anything with Strong Gale in its pedigree!
Being beaten by a 163 rated, supposed non stayer who, wait for it, outstays you to finish runner up in a King George is not the ideal preparation. I’m with High Ken.
The last Festival race to have been hyped nearly as much as this year’s "Blue Ribband" was in 2005 when Moscow Flyer & Azertyuiop met after 2004’s let down when MF departed and again we were let down.
I firmly believe this unnecessary pressure being placed on both horses and their respective jockeys will lead to something going awry for one if not both and that is why I feel The Listener, Mossbank, Old Vic etc. should be standing their ground. They may be not be good enough to beat KS and/or Denman but who knows, they may not have to be. I’m not wishing the two horses ill, far from it, but who knows what will happen?
