T’would appear so, Wallace.
Aldahar Beebers seemed to have plenty up his sleeve jumping the last.Quote: from Mounty on 11:35 am on June 18, 2007[br] That name ring’s a bell but I can’t quite place it…..<br>
<br>Could it be that he might be a colleague of your’s, Mo ? No, that of course would be a cynical view to take.
This is a posting from Chompy to the Betfair horseracing forum this evening at 19:52 under his own thread-title " SPOTLIGHT TIPSTERERS":<br>"These guys are very good, Compton Classic at 8-1 this afternoon and Karmest just won at the same price. I’d happily pay £10 a day for the paper with these quality tips inside"
(Edited by hoofhearted at 9:55 pm on June 18, 2007)
<br>Or maybe just one 30k bet a year, on a 4/6 shot at one of the major meetings? <br>
I was thinking the same!
Surely a pro-punter would be more selective in his wagering than betting a £100 on each of six races every day, 363 days a year?
Ooooooh, A.J. Martin does it again 10 minutes ago!<br>Green Mile gambled from early this morning for the 4.05 Fairyhouse.<br>Wins at 5/2 in an 18 runner handicap hurdle with previous form showing 090-0
Heh heh, a son of Montjeu running in a 2.2 mile £7,000 handicap hurdle. This man is a — oh I don’t know!

It looked like a failed gamble to me!!!

Racing seems to have some sort of admiration for these so called shrewdies, you obviously fit into this bracket
Rid racing of the Curleys, Martins & Wighams. I know there is plenty of other cheats out there
Ah, for the love of Pete, willya give it up Marz! <br>Embrace the wild and wonderful world of racing with all its foibles and unforeseen outcomes that don’t necessarily follow what the "Form Book" tells you should happen. Accept the "outrageous fortune" that can occur in Racing as it can in any pursuit of chance. Learn to read between the lines and try not to be so wrapped up with "form". Not every result — if it goes against you — is a reason to shout CHEAT! When something happens that you did not foresee/forecast and puzzles you make it your mission to discover why YOU did not notice an outstanding pointer/hint (for surley there will be one). You CAN profit from your mistakes if you are prepared to analyze the result and accept that in future you will adjust your selection methods accordingly. Thus doing, instead of constantly bitching/whining/whingeing, you may find that the holy grail of long-term profitability is indeed achievable.
And lose all that anger and resentment inside you. :)
Regards,<br>And Peace,<br>Jack C.

its gone beyond a joke, Martin is laughing at the authorities.<br>
<br>And I’m laughing with him ……. all the way to the bank!!!
Seriously Madman, a lot less vitriol and a little more form-study ( = reading-the-markets ) would be to your financial advantage. Not being facetious or anything, but it’s not rocket science!
Aaah, poor ol’ Southern. <br>A great old trooper — I too had a tinge of a tear when I read of his sad demise.
If memory serves me, a young jock name of Alan O’Keefe had a great understanding of the old boy when O’Keefe was attached to Venetia’s stable. The two of ’em had a couple of great victories.
I agree with Reet on this one. At least with O’Donnell and Martin you get what it says on the box — when the money is down and the market tells you so, then you have a good pointer. (As evidenced again last night at Roscommon with the large plunge on Mr A J Martin’s successful gamble).
Thank you for that, SL. ‘Tis a pity — it would be nice to have the upper hand on the Exchange Shop In-Running boys for once! Seems that Racing still has to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
Mounty, I have been told that Worcester apparently is the spiritual home of the Luddite movement. Hopefully, there will be no cries of "smash the machines" at Newb, Newm, or Sal next fortnight.
Anyway, looking forward to the adventure. ( Meanwhile, Mrs Hoof is looking forward to "shopping for some nice shoes" ).
Thanks again to all for your kind advice.
Definite interference, imo. The fact that it was unintentional and that Oscar Snowman may well have negated his own chance of winning is immaterial — the opportunity of a fair run was denied to at least two other horses in the race.<br>Oscar Snowman should have been demoted to fifth, I believe.
Quote: from sberry on 8:13 am on June 11, 2007[br]<br>do you honestly think any other self-respecting company or business would employ dodgy accountants or people who would rob them <br>
Yes, that does certainly occur occasionally. But I guarantee you this much ……… when such a miscreant is discovered he is out-the-door before his feet touch the ground. He certainly would not be tolerated and defended to the hilt by his employers — to the extent of obtaining the best legal brains in the land to aid his case.
Wallace, if an "operator" is retained by Coolmore in the capacity of stable jock then that is one thing. Such an operator you can be damn sure would be riding the syndicate’s horses to instruction. That is a world away from such an employee being kept on if he was in the slightest way suspected of being in the pay of Betfair "Layers-to-Lose". <br>Think about it, and I am confident that you will agree that such a scenario of Coolmore tolerating that kind of carry-on as completely implausible

The same Rose who sometimes tends to fall-at-the-first when she is aboard the favourite?
Very many thanks to you all for your kind and helpful replies.
David, it’s not necessarily solely Betfair I wish to trade on — Books also will be seeing a bit of my disposable! It’s just that it is a bit of a hassle converting Euro toytownmoney into Sterling, and I don’t like the notion of walking around with a couple of K’s in pocket (whilst also having more than a couple Glenfiddich’s in pancreas). Here, at home in my native land, my punting at the course would be "on-the-nod" — credit/debit account etc. I would prefer to have my on-course wagering at the planned meetings to be transacted electronically. But no great deal about it …………
Mounty, thanks. Thing is, when you are coming from abroad into the Vodaphone UK environment — trying to organise a "Roaming" short-term 3G contract is an absolute nightmare. Just not worth it.
The question is tho’, can I find out for deffo if it is permissable to actually carry a lappy into a racecourse in the UK??? I do recall reading 5/6 years ago that such a practice was banned. Have things changed in the meantime?<br>

Does anybody on here seriously believe for one moment that uber-successful businessmen such as Magnier, Tabor and Smith with lifetime’s experience of breeding, bookmaking and bloodstock ownership at the highest level would employ (nevermind vigorously support and defend) a "corrupt person" as a lynchpin member of their team?<br>The whole idea is preposterous!
I would echo Aidan’s post in proposing that folk on here remember that the "accusations" are only that  — Accusations.

It is said that betting with your heart instead of your head is the quickest way to the poor-house. But I don’t care — I’m backing Henry and P.O.T.
I echo all the sentiments above ……… I love the man for his generosity, open-ness and dignified stance in the face of all the adversity that he has experienced. <br>
