In my hard-earned experience, when a "proper Group 1" horse is entered in a Group 3 FTO next season, you can be fairly sure that they will "come on for the run". If there is any sort of competition on the day, it is unlikely that Johnny Murtagh or whoever else might be on Peeping Fawn will be forcing her over the line.

A trait of Ballydoyle horses racing on seasonal debut.

Haradasun was supposed to race in a Group 3 on seasonal debut but switched to the Lockinge and was thumped. I reckon it was Frank Tagg’s decision and not Coolmore. Which proves he should just leave the business alone to the guys who know better.

I would not say he was thumped, was staying on well and met traffic problems

I believe Casual Conquest will really come on from Epsom, 4/6 is way too short for NA if both TB anc CC turn up

If Bolgers behaviour is not a reflection on Irish racing and just bolger, then I take it that his glory moments are similarly just a reflection on Bolger and not irish racing. Cant have it both ways :D

What baffles me about him is that he hasnt even shown one bit of understanding towards punters in his comments. Even if he didnt really mean it, just a word wouldnt have killed, would it?

    Seems almost perverse really…

As for the ponying, im not bothered myself

is oliver cromwell’s behaviour in Ireland a reflection on English people?…….only kidding! look, Bolger can be a bit of twit alright, I’ll be the first to agree, but at the end of the day, thats racing!

What price Manning being jocked off for Frankie?

If Rio De La Plata runs Frankie will ride. But Rio is not at his best on a soft surface. If it is on the soft side, wonder if they’ll withdraw Rio and switch Frankie to New Approach.

As far as I am concerned Bolger is making a right bollix of New Approaches campaign this year, fair enough running in the English Guineas as a prep for a derby crack, but going for the Irish 2000 guineas when he is crying out for 10-12f does not make sense, if anything I think Henry will come on from Newmarket. This is like Finsceal Beo all over again

I recognise Tartan Bearer as being the type who would thrive in a King George … very much like his brother!

That a Ballydoyle two-start colt on seasonal debut who won his Maiden by a half length at Gowran Park, and outclassed in the Racing Post Trophy; beaten fractionally by a horse who had won a Maiden at Leicester last start.

Spare me. Both these two will not be experienced enough for Epsom IMO.

Twice Over must have tired pretty badly due to the firm ground. He ended up just holding out a horse who looks one for the sprinting ranks in the Craven. I think he is over-rated to the absolute full.

If Casual Conquest appears at Epsom – he wins. That Derrinstown victory was too impressive to have one muddling over who is Derby worthy. Come on. He is looking at you.

Couldn’t the bookies shout the supplementary fee? Makes sure that there would be some solid money pouring in.

It would be possible for Kingdom Of Naples to clean up the Gallinule without much harm done and the books quickly cut him to a 2nd or 3rd elect.

    from the RP

CASUAL CONQUEST’S owners indicated they are prepared topay the £75,000 to supplement their colt for the Vodafone Derby – should trainer Dermot Weld give his seal of approval.

The six-length winner of last Sunday’s Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown leapt to the top of the betting with some firms in a currently cloudy Epsom picture.

Weld did not enter Casual Conquest in the Derby at an earlier stage, preferring at the weekend to pinpoint the French or Irish equivalents as more probable options.

Stan Cosgrove, the manager of his ownersMoyglare Stud Farm, said: "He still has his options open and it’s a possibility to go to Epsom, but he’s just had the two runs and he might just be a little inexperienced.
"We’ll see how everything goes for a while – we only need to supplement him four days before the race."

Reflecting on Leopardstown, Cosgrove continued: "He annihilated them. He’s a great big horse and that was only his first run of the year.

"It’s really up to the trainer and the jockey (to make a decision about supplementing). Regarding the money, there’s no problem with that."

Curlin’s Arc entry has a fair bit to do with his trainer’s dislike of synthetic surfaces ( on which this year’s BC Classic will be run) and connections may just be keeping their options open.

There is already much talk in the US of a Big Brown/Curlin showdown. And ,obviously, a lot is going to depend on the way the season pans out and whether BB can add to his lustre in forthcoming races , but the Jockey Club Cup is an obvious event for the two to meet in – a race run only a matter of days before the Arc – so it is hard to envisage Curlin traveling to France if the next few months run the course all race fans ( US ones, anyway) are hoping .

Would the Breeders Cup Classic be a better race for them to meet?

If the first and second lock horns again at the Curragh, I am convinced that New Approach will reverse the Newmarket placings with Henrythenavigator.

I disagree. New Approach got the run of the race but Henry came from behind and did him for toe. I doubt he’ll ever finish in front of Henry over a mile.

Personally, I would not take any notice of Ballydoyle horses runs untill Guineas weekend, so its always hard to know with them
