great great race in store i think, i was also on Tartan Bearer, couldnt back New Approach as the way Bloger was going on it had me thinking if it wasnt his intened target does he know something that we dont i watched the interviews with him again sat night and he did appologise and said he made a huge mistake but to late IMO anyway cant wait for Irish Derby think i will stick with Tartan………………unless Henry runs
June 9, 2008 at 09:53 #167480Nothing outside of the front three will get near them for the rest of the season and the only reason I give Casual Conquest any hope is his inexperience – Tartan Bearer and New Approach went way clear when they quickened.
The interesting thing about these two horses is that I do not believe either of them does anything in front and they certainly had plenty left in the tank. If you watch TB he gets to the front then effectively starts idling, then sees NA up the inside and picks up again as he accelerates. Unfortunately it’s difficult to beat a dual guineas second for toe.
Great race, two great horses and a good 3yo crop I think. Best for a few years imo.
June 9, 2008 at 09:55 #167481How about Doctor Fremantle cleaning up the Queen’s Vase?
June 9, 2008 at 20:14 #167616Cashmans price it 4/6 New Approach, 4/1 Tartan Bearer, 7/1 Casual Conquest &16/1+ individually the Ballydoyle horses.
I firmly believe that horses only win sequences of Group/Grade 1 races when they have a top class jockey and that makes New Approach vulnerable – Manning never looked in control of the situation at anytime.June 9, 2008 at 21:23 #167625the Tartan bearer price isnt at all bad is it?
But bolger (and lets hope that hes telling the…
) is quite adamant that NA needs little work and bounces back wellWould like to have seen NA go for the eclipse myself (i am a regular at Sandown and knowing how Jb likes us punters i am sure he will take that into consideration..)
June 9, 2008 at 22:27 #167632I agree that to win a group one you need a group one jockey. But this horse can survive a group three jockey even if it cost the Guineas(why Bolger went on and on about the ride in the Derby) . Wait till next year when Frankie boy rides him.

I think your being disingenuous here.
Im sure the stats people here will also tell you that jockeys are probably the least important factor. We do go on with such a load of nonsense about it really.

June 10, 2008 at 07:12 #167651I believe Casual Conquest will really come on from Epsom, 4/6 is way too short for NA if both TB anc CC turn up

June 12, 2008 at 08:39 #167974“The jockey is so very important,” O’Brien said. “Particularly when it comes to the Derby." That is Vincent speaking.
