not a single one of this years below average crop of 3-y-Olds has won a group race beyond a mile against older horses this year so we can forget Snow Fairy and Meeznah.

I’d argue that that particular fact is one that will be overturned eventually – it would be remarkable if it wasn’t – and I think Snow Fairy is the horse with the class to do it.

The horse that’s caught my eye here is Bay Willow, especially since Overturn isn’t certain to run. Nicely weighted, in decent form – will have to delve deeper, though!

Looking at both the draw and the trends, and everything else, I’d say Noverre To Go just edges out a few others, including Tiddlywinks and Tajneed.

I know there’s no such thing as a two horse race (unless it’s ACTUALLY got two horses in it), but this is all about SSB and Equiano. FWIW, I reckon Equiano can turn the tables on the Thunder from Down Under – five furlongs will suit him better.

I know I’m giving her the kiss of death here, but I think Joanna could be a decent pick, if only each way.

She’s got proven class, and a horse going down in trip is always worth keeping an eye out for, I think.

I think there could be merit in a track holding a "Champions Day" once a year, in which races were open only to horses that had run at the track in the previous 12 months. A bit like a loyalty card, rewarding those who had patronised the track.

You would get pot-hunters, but having a Group horse turning up to win a £10k conditions race at, say, Beverley would have its appeal, and said Group horse would only be able to do so by having run at Beverley in the first place.

Couple of 2yo races, a 3yo "Derby" and open-aged sprint/mile/stayers races would give you a six-race card. You could chuck in a valuable handicap for owners/trainers who had had runners at the course in the previous 12 months for good measure.

If the idea caught on courses would have to spread their big days out across the calendar.

    Just an idea.

I reckon it’s a pretty good idea, but would it attract the bigger horses?

See, I would absolutely love to see Snow Fairy have a go at the St Leger – but what would I know?

Very sad, a horse coming into his own. Hopefully he’ll get well soon and have a long and happy life at stud.

I think the problem, if you can call it that, with Snow Fairy is a) he realtively unknown owner and b) he short of top class (at present I stress) trainer.

Imagine if she wore lets say the Abdullah silks and was trained at Warren Place, she would be regarded as the second coming on the back or a superlative display such as the one witnessed this afternoon.

I think as I mentioned in another thread on the Stoute fillies down the years, keeping them on the go into August seems to have taken the edge off them come the Parisian autumn.

    Well said.

Mind you, how about a straight up match race between her and Workforce? Not something to bet on, but just to watch…

If Hurricane Fly runs, Hurricane Fly wins, as I believe someone’s signature says.

However, a horse I reckon could run a big, big race on the opening day of next year’s festival is Get Me Out Of Here. Not saying he’ll win the Champion Hurdle, but he could be an each-way bet.

Unless, of course, his connections put him in the Arkle…now that

    would

    be interesting.

Kauto is still the King, HOWEVER – does anyone else think the King George might well be his swansong?

If it is, well, let’s just say that JP McManus might well be thinking about adding the Gold Cup to his already extensive collection…just a hunch.

I think the heat is starting to get to people :D

Let’s spend the day in the shade people, there are 8 races on terrestrial TV today. I suggest we all watch the Morning Line, whinge til our throats are dry about how we could do a better job then marvel at the afternoon program as our 8 selections get stuffed.

Life is too short for all this squabbling amongst ourselves.

I think you’ve summed everything up perfectly.

As a journalist (not a racing one, sadly), I can say that the original idea – looking at whether a tipster makes a profit – was fundamentally a good one.

There was a case for defamation action, but the defence of ‘fair comment’ and ‘public interest’ (so far as people who read the forum constitute the public in this particular case) would have almost certainly won out.

That said, it isn’t my forum :)

Aaaaanyway, isn’t Tanya/Lesley/Nick Luck/Thommo useless, whinge, whine, moan, blah ;)

I have a sneaking suspicion that Strawberrydaiquiri has something up her sleeves, and could produce a big run as the horse on the up.

Fives is a decent price, IMHO.

Looking forward to the Tingle Creek and London National, the first to see a corking two mile chase, the second to see the legend that is Eric’s Charm for perhaps the final time.
