I like the looks of Equiano for this, he fits the trends well, he’s in cracking form and he’s a pretty tasty price for this – will have to wait for the draw, though!

EDITED TO ADD, 6/7/10: Or Nicconi, of course :)

Apologies if this is in the wrong bit, but it was great to see Dick Turpin snare that Group One with a glorious, effortless and really rather spangly run in the Prix Jean Prat.

Not really fella, it was a weak race with only a few runners, in which
    he started at ‘seven on’.

He was 15-8, I think you may be confusing it with the previous race!

    Coming up this Sunday.

I’ve taken a look at the horses, thrown out everything that wasn’t Ballydoyle, eliminated Bright Horizon (just not good enough), At First Sight (ran the race of his life in the Derby, but not up to standard), and Jan Vermeer (basically overrated).

This leaves me with Midas Touch and Cape Blanco. And I can’t split the two.

    AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

Out of the ones that are definitely in, Overturn, Elyaadi and Stanstill do it for me, providing they keeps the weight.

Looking down the weights, I like the looks of Deauville Flyer, Aaim To Prosper (God, I hate that spelling), Junior and My Arch. Depends on if they get in….oh, and there’s the draw bias to look out for, too!

There seems to be a pretty heavy draw bias for this race, so I’ll be whittling down my shortlist once the draw has come out.

    Should be a good ‘un.

I have a longlist of 14 horses for this one.

Yeah, so do I. Fahey’s 13, and Rebel Soldier.

Actually, I am talking utter rubbish as I had a brainfart and confused this with the Northumberland Plate.

    I have no idea why.

    Sorry.

I do like the staying flat races, so I reckon this could be pretty interesting.

I like the look of Darley Sun, certainly at the price he’s at. Impressive in the Cesarewitch last year, and I think he can come good.

Arg, but that said, I like the looks of Bannaby – he certainly fits in with most of the trends. Maybe I’ll split the bet?

What a fantastic bit of placing from Henry, so obvious, a class, talking horse
in the closing handicap, delighted I backed it, got 7s.

Difficult horse, but as soon as Queally got him straightened up, there was only
going to be one outcome :D

I know it’s not the done thing, but I got her at 8s.

Of course, sod’s law being the way it is, the two horses where I’d done some research (Glass Harmonium and Mull of Killoch) were dire, but this ‘ooh she’s running’ shits’n’giggles bet won. Isn’t it always the way?

Mull Of Killough e/w for me. Good horse, has been threatening/promising more than he’s been delivering, and the draw isn’t TOO awful.

Oh i though he rode the horse well but goldikova was just better. What horses though! WOW!! Can’t wait to see them again :-)

    Seconded.

I’ll take my hat of to Goldikova – fantastic run, and had Paco Boy been set loose earlier, well, Goldikova would have probably done him anyway.

Does not diminish how good Paco Boy is one iota.

I’m going along to this one on a work jolly but, rest assured, I will avoid the crap and stick to the racing. Oh, and the main reason I’ll be there is to scope it out for Tingle Creek day!

BTW, didn’t Inspirational Dancer come fifth in a Bumper at Fontwell the other month?

A horse no-one seems to have mentioned, but who I like the look of – Kempes.

I thought he ran pretty well at Punchestown, considering that he’d not done the distance before…and there was something about him that told me he’d prefer it going left-handed.

He’s a pretty big price right now, but does anyone else have any thoughts?

I also like the look of What A Friend, and I’m sure I’ll have a bet on Kauto, just for Old Time’s Sake

    Any thoughts?

I still think Awzaan is perhaps a bit too long a price – I’d’ve thought he would be around the 7s mark.

Will be interesting to see whether SNA is all he’s cracked up to be, though.

Great run from Church Island, Lacdoudal was pretty impressive, too, and Monkerhostin showed why he’s one of the most personally popular horses there is.

However – and this might just be the wallet talking – I only wish Eric’s Charm had run.
