not recent but not to be forgotton :
Ballinger Ridge
led, soon 10 lengths clear,
shaken up briefly over 1f out,
jockey looked round and stopped riding,
ridden final 100yds, caught on line
and one that obviously needs amending by some people on this forum (I’ve added the last line for them) :
Sir Percy
held up in midfield, 11th straight,
good progress and switched to inner 2f out,
ran on well and squeezed through final
furlong to lead last 50 yards,
a freakishly lucky winner
it’s not been bad recently, but today was a proper smack in the face – if we hit joint runs like this we should sell ’em as lays :)
tomorrow is a day off and maybe i’ll do an afternoon or evening meet next week if there’s one close enough on – beats sitting in front of the pc
i love racing, bask in the glory quietly then just when you think you can do wrong, advertise your picks and watch em go down the toilet – tomorrow is a day off anyway, british motocross gp – probably for the best, long as i don’t look at betfair for the races…
you made me check and of my last 21 bets 6 were 2yo races and have all won (all short priced favs). 5 were maiden races and they also won but i backed 5 losers in other races.
three i’ll be backing today are :
Lipocco – looks a 2-horse race and i just can’t see southandwest as the better horse for this race
Alhaajes – shocking price but something will have to be a bit special or it will take an accident to stop this winning, imo
Silent Jo – looks a good horse and it doesn’t seem up against much to me
i know they’re short prices but it’s working for me profit-wise and i find the strike rate much more pleasing.
excellent. missed em both and the double, through sheer drunken-ness
oh well always saturday..
shocking stuff. just had a look at fisby and i wouldn’t bet in that race with the bookies own money. good luck if you do tho
thanks, i’ll have a look at those 2 now. i spose this is the beauty of these so called tips, they just can’t be obvious. ethon just hacked up at clonmel and just watching the exchange made me wonder about it. i still can’t bring myself to play these sort of races tho
had a call earlier from someone passing on a tip, Icecap in the 7:05. not my scene as i don’t generally play brighton or that type of race and it looks nothing special at all but it has shortenened in price to what looks too short for it and has had most activity on the exchanges.
thanks for running this comp, i have enjoyed it.
I suppose if Dimboola doesn’t win and you’ve gained 3 points for probably only one and a half risked then you’ve got 2 almost free chances of a bit of each-way thievery but for all Dimboola’s faults surely it must win this race ? Not that I’d back it at that price – closer to evens and I’d be tempted. Fair staking though and even if Dimboola romps home you have a couple of chances to get out of the race without losing (much).
As for the Lingfield race, with Callaghan and Urbina both warm/hot and with Peggy’s Flower’s previous race form as good as anything else in the race (imo) plus the ideal draw as opposed to the fav, I think you’re right to go against the fav but I think backing those 2 outsiders for a total of 4 pts might be more risky than just laying the fav for 4 points, bearing in mind the number of runners/places – fav should be about evens with frankie on board in the first race of the day at a sunny lingfield, so get the fav beat in the first at evens and you could have a free day…
I hope you’re right FSL as this is in my sels for Cormacks comp :) I agree with you’re reasoning too and the price of the fav with doubts in my mind over ground and trip makes it opposable to me also. It’s 4th best bet of the day for me though so misses out on getting my money by one, unless one of the other 3 become a non-runner
and for as much as i hate to say it as i have followed this horse for years after watching it win at lingfield, I think it is past it’s best now – it must have a place chance though, but i’ll be just watching it today (favs race)
GL everyone and thanks Cormack for running the comp – i like the format and the duration is ideal, imo. look forward to the next one. Cheers.
that’s what i was thinking mr frisk but i can see it doing that and ambling across the line a minute or so after the winner and then being declared as PU and therefore not a finisher – i might phone them up and see if they’ll take 10k at 11/10 from someone living in Kent.
yeah, but noddies way running tomorrow (if it does) won’t make the streets of our towns and practically every pub in the land a no go area for the next month, which if i have to be honest, as patriotic as i am, really pi**es me off and i wish it weren’t happening
because i was thinking of putting him in a double with england to win the world cup but the bookies said it would be classed as related bets as they would both involve rocking horse s**t
why not bred for it, what am i missing ? it’s by a decent stayer, out of a winning miler and hurdler herself by an irish derby winner – i think that’s pretty ok for a middle distance/stayer. (it’ll have the speed for the derby through it’s dams win over the mile and the fact the dam is related to a 5F winner :) )
as for why it’s entered good luck to them for being able to live the dream. a class move using the derby as the debut for this horse, imo.
i sense a 1000 price on the exchanges at the off. good to see Kent’s second winning trainer getting some exposure.
