not bothered – your last paragraph belies that sir harry. what i do find pathetic are those who claim to be pro-racing but constantly knock certain aspects of it. no i don’t hold shares in aw tracks and though i enjoy this sort of racing you won’t find me knocking other parts of racing i don’t enjoy as much. if someone isn’t bothered and is not anti-racing i don’t understand why they would continually want to knock an aspect of racing – as far as i can see it needs all the support it can get and doesn’t need sniping from within whatever one’s personal preference. that’s all sir, i really am getting more and more irked with people moaning, in my opinion un-necessarily as it is only negative to the sport – what’s the point of that ? have your preferences by all means but why knock the bits you don’t like ?
and i thought people were here because they enjoyed racing – obviously not. to compare the racing that has so far been staged on kempton’s aw track to greyhound racing is pathetic – it has been markedly better than many of the poor quality turf flat or jumps meetings but i have heard no call for this racing to be culled – and the course itself is far superior to many of the poor flat or jumps courses. if it’s quality you’re worried about let’s shut down brighton racetrack for a start, and a lot of these ridiculous jumps venues that stage a few low grade meets a year – no i don’t mean that, if you like racing you should be glad of the increase in your sport.
i don’t understand the anti-aw faction but EC is right, get used to it or shut up or ship out. it’s not just the way it’s going but the quality will keep increasing too.
greyhound racing – now there is a pointless sport – might as well roll a dice every 12 minutes…
Hail The Chief finished as his last race suggested he would and I am not surprised Kempton suited him but for a moment 2 out he looked like he was having second thoughts. Nothing wrong with Kempton at all, or evening racing.
good call on Roman Quest, EC. it lost the race at the start and was given a poor ride afterwards but it wasn’t a backable price and was well beat in the end
Mogok placing was ok, but what do you do next – increase your lay of Roman or back it off and take the first on the chin ?
EC, agree with your lay of Hucking Hill though would rather oppose with Mogok Ruby e/w than the fav but not sure about opposing Roman Quest – granted 3.2 is not a very backable price but I would not want to be against it either. If you collect on both of these lays very well done but the two of them together at the prices they are worry me as a potential loss-maker if one comes in, which is more than possible. Hail The Chief is also a short price to back in my opinion but it has me interested in this race and was entered in tomorrows spring cup but not declared this morning – I can’t make my mind up what that means but will probably be on it. Good luck with the 2 lays though.
this is a fairly decent card and i (among many others no doubt) are pleased to see the evening racing back. as for the kempton track, i think it is a welcome addition to the aw tracks we currently have as it is just a little different from the others. as a course kempton has excellent facilities compared to the other 15 or so i have visited and there will be a fair sized crowd enjoying themselves tonight. i’m looking forward to mondays soon where we can go to lingfield, kempton or somewhere else close in the afternoon and then pop along to windsor to the evening meet.
glenn, apart from the title of your post being distasteful and practically every paragraph in your post being inaccurate diatribe, if you dislike it so much why don’t you just give it up ? if you really are alike the attitude of your initial post i doubt a single person in racing will miss you, if you’ve ever partaken before, should you not bother again.
and by the way, aidan and wizard, yes, whats the rest done ?
scuse me for speaking oout of turn but ive seen bugger all else that stands out yet – open or what ?
agreed, good comp and well run, i like it. hope there’s something similar after the 9 weeks or whatever ?
Good afternoon all and best wishes on what has proved to be a tedious and dull weekend so far.
Today’s selections :
Kempton 2:10 Quadrupa
Kempton 3:15 Rohaani
Kempton 3:45 Nayyir
Haydock 4:30 Il’Athou
Kempton 4:50 Stoneacre Boy
The way the weekend has gone so far and looking at my selections, I feel the need for some reserves today :
Leopardstown 2:20 Mist And Stone
Kempton 2:45 Transonic
Kempton 5:25 Cold Turkey
Good luck Aranalde…
no, i don’t think they know they’ve won as that would be assuming they know they are in a race to a set finishing line as opposed to just running. they run because it’s in their animal instinct to run and run in herds. some will always be faster and if they were that intelligent they’d know that if they didn’t run fast or at all, the nasty big man training them every day would leave them alone and stop putting the nasty little mr whippy on their back. not saying their not intelligent or great animals it’s just not rocket science to train something to do what it does naturally – the skill comes into making them do it better and how you want it and keeping them tip-top fit – that’s where the better trainers and riders get the best out of the better (and maybe somewhat dimmer) horses, imo.
Palawan – got me out of trouble more than once at lingfield and won a few other races as well. i followed it blindly after it’s first rescue win for me and even went to lingfield more than once just because he was running there. i knew it hadn’t run for a year now and thought it might be retired so checked on the rp db before this reply and it says he died as a 9yo – i didn’t know that till just now and will raise a glass to it next time i have a drink.
i’ll keep my eyes open then, good luck. thought i’d ask as there was a previous thread saying about now and one gets curious. any reason it’s not showing on RP db as i though all horses were on there when registered ?
i agree with clive, things are only getting better. Who wants 16 runner fields, it’s just too difficult to pick the winner then isn’t it ? roll on 7 day a week 4/5 runner races at lingfield and kempton for us win backers and just run the odd big field lottery over fences for the blindfold-pinsticker brigade………hic !
any latest news on when this horse’s first run may be ?
Good afternoon everybody and best wishes to you all on this fine looking day in the garden of England.
My 5 for today (n.b. unlike last week I am sober enough to remember to post) are as follows :
Lingfield 1:40 Hart Of Gold
Aintree 2:15 Voy Por Ustedes
Lingfield 2:45 Close To You
Aintree 3:25 Refinement
Lingfield 3:50 Aristofilia
As fearless as I will be drunk later on, I have no need for any reserve selections.
Behatzlacha, LRM
