The shape of this race strongly reminds me of my biggest ever winning punt, on Makfi in 2010.
The winner was a once raced French horse up against a cast of contenders without a great deal of convincing form. As usual there was an O’Brien hotpot (St Nicholas Abbey at evens!?!) plus many with decent but not overwhelming form and my boy had obviously been properly prepared for the race. Admittedly the 3rd Canford Cliffs eventually proved himself a star miler but I’m struggling to locate a potential superstar in this year’s lineup.
Hence I’m inclined to row in with Maddy Playle’s suggestion of Take Me On who is the winner of a mile race at Deauville last backend and is apparently an intended runner. The race description sounds impressive but i can’t locate a video to judge it. ATR reports video not available yet and i can’t find it on youtube… Any suggestions gratefully received!A tanner?!? Are the credit controllers still operating in pre decimal amounts?!?
Thanks, RR, good fun as ever!
Wow!Joint leader! It’s all downhill from here. 😱
After sc enticed me to back No Ordinary Joe I’ve added Buble Dubi 50-1 ew 5
sergeantcecil’s early call on No Ordinary Joe has been backed up by the usually astute Matt Brocklebank this evening. Here’s hoping… 🤞
I’m shocked at the disregard for the Prestbury Cup! 😱
I think you’ll find that Skelton, Henderson, Nicholls et al would rather win the cup than have any individual winners themselves. And if the cup were to be regained ( have we ever actually won it?) there’d surely be an open topped bus tour of Lambourn…
More seriously, the main reason Id like more British winners is that it’s usually easier for me to get a handle on their form for betting purposes.I suspect that without the mares races, X country and bumper we’d be in with a chance of the Prestbury cup this year – so only 6 behind?!?
He also said in January, TC, that Kabral du Mathan would probably be kept to 2 and a half miles and now he’s heading for the Stayers!
That suits me, as I have a few tasty vouchers on him, but as with a lot of trainer’s quotes I’ve learned to keep a salt pot handy!Since I began to record my bets 7 or 8 years ago, (seldom more than £10 or £15 per race) I recall Skybet were first to withdraw promotional perks then restrict me to about 50 pence, swiftly followed by Betfair Sportsbook. Next to restrict were Boylesports (again to 50 p or so) then Betway, then Bet365, who actually closed my account. Having not bet with 888sport for years I deposited £20 , had one losing £10 bet with them when the bastards closed my account and ignored my requests to have my remaining £10 returned!
Interesting call, sc. He shaped like the winner 2 out, before fading. Can’t see why he’d be dropped another pound for that?
Big disparity in the prices with plenty around 16-1 – might suggest that some firms think he might be going straight to the County? Otherwise looks a decent punt.In deciding whether or not to run him, I wonder if Skelton might factor in the potential of Thistle Ask putting Majborough’s jumping under pressure, thus increasing the chance of LDS winning?
I’ve never been there, but judging from portraits of Honfleur harbour by Seurat it looks spectacularly beautiful!
Leftie media?!? Now, that *is* hilarious!
He was effectively forced to resign, not for some cake and wine parties ( at a time when the general public were effectively house-bound) but because the Privileges Committee had warned him that he would be found guilty of attempting to mislead Parliament. The weight of Cabinet resignations made it impossible for bim to continue to bluff and bluster bis way through government.
His famously leftie editor of the Torygraph, Max Hastings proclaimed him ‘unfit for public office’ adding ‘there is room for debate whether he is a scoundrel or mere rogue, but not much about his moral bankruptcy, rooted in a contempt for truth.’Can we now expect the Met to bang up Boris Johnson, whose entire career has been constructed on misconduct in public office?
Narciso Has misses Cheltenham with an injury
Notwithstanding my relative disdain for the race I’ve had a few tiny bets on the exchange for Twig, Champ Kiely and Deep Cave, plus small ews on Beauport and Therealwhacker at 100-1!
Oh, and I had to take Ladbrokes at 6-4 on Mike covering the entire field with free bets! 👀- AuthorPosts
