Looking at the early market, the standout price to me looks like Myretown at 33’s. Goes without saying that he’s surely got more improvement in him, and though his future is ultimately outwith handicaps, there most be a real chance he comes here. 33’s just looks wrong.
Willie Mullins, fresh from his win on Saturday, will surely dominate the market again, and it’s his Kilcruit, who is high on the shortlist for me. I fancy him for Fairyhouse, and though he’ll be eleven this time next year, he’s not got many miles on the clock, and I just like his profile for this. He’s not quoted yet, but I’ve asked for him to be added. I’ll definitely bet him before his next run, and though I’ve bet him already for Fairyhouse, I’d be amazed if Sandown isn’t under consideration too.
As well as Kilcruit, the other pair I’m particularly interested in are Champ Kiely, and Ile Atlantique
There will be loads from the yard getting quoted for this. Lecky Watson was one I liked from the yard a few months back, but he’ll be Gold Cup bound now, while if Ballyburn continues in the vein of his Cheltenham run, he’s maybe one for 2027. Fresh from his win in The Topham, I just wonder if they’ll consider this for Gentleman De Mee
Fresh from his narrow defeat to Gentlemen De Mee, I’d be amazed if they don’t aim Lisnamult Lad for this. Been keeping any eye on him all season, and he’s definitely going the right way.
First two home in The Plate at Cheltenham, Thecompanysergeant and Jagwar, another pair who’re on the radar. Jagwar was a very impressive winner, with more to come, but of interest to me was the 66’s available on
Thecompanysergeant, compared to the 25’s JagwarMidnight Our Fred was my long term main hope, but his run in The Kim Muir was a bitter disappointment, and he’s a watching brief for now
My main fancy for Ayr right now, Brandt, is another I like long term, but he’s got work to do to get in, while I’ll be keeping an eye on O’Connell and Val Dancer next year, after successful 24/25 campaign
Last but not least, for now, is Johnnywho. They’re definitely mucking about with him, and I’d expect a big run from him at Fairyhouse. I think the current 50’s is generous
Kilcruit my #1 right now, but current prices really appeal for Myretown and Johnnywho, while Lisnamult Lad will hopefully be getting added to the market soon.

Kilcruit cashed outQuai De Bourbon 66’s
April 19, 2025 at 11:40 #1727639Quai de Bourbon has been declared for the Irish National so I’ve joined Bobby at the 66s for Aintree. Lots to like- was stable Martin Pipe horse last year as some of their good staying chasers are, proper graded quality which you need now and already got the rating to secure a run, but perhaps not quite so good that they are likely to be tempted by the Gold Cup.
He unseated at Cheltenham but just got a bit low here and there which is no bad thing…he didn’t actually fall himself and then ran quite well in the G1 novice chase at Aintree before being brought down.
He’ll only be 7 next year but that doesn’t bother me…I think 7yo winners might become a bit more common now with the race changes. French breds don’t have a good record but no better trainer to bust a stat.April 19, 2025 at 13:26 #1727660Yeah, Grass, it’s nice price, and it was the fact Mullins ran two 7yo’s last year that swung it for me. Good luck

April 21, 2025 at 17:16 #1727890Off first glance you look to have a good one Green and VTC although the going was soft to heavy. No doubt about stamina.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.April 21, 2025 at 17:31 #1727898Haiti Couleurs 16-1 ew 4 places as a first stab.
April 21, 2025 at 17:52 #1727909Mike I reckon they will be thinking GC after today
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 21, 2025 at 18:07 #1727915HDLG, Rebecca Curtis has just mentioned the Gold Cup as a possibility when interviewed on RTV.
However, he could always go for the National if he doesn’t make the jump to Grade One class.
April 21, 2025 at 18:10 #1727916If he was mine it would be GC , he’s a Native River type , attacks his fences , loves to front run , really like him but he might just get tapped for speed on decent ground

They can try if they want but I don’t see him as a Gold Cup horse. In novice company as an 8 year old, which isn’t young, he has to find about 20 pounds aged 9 having just beaten a 13 year old off 141 in a handicap.
April 21, 2025 at 18:22 #1727919He won very easily Mike

April 21, 2025 at 18:25 #1727923oh i see you just did :o)
April 21, 2025 at 18:28 #1727924Sometimes in life Mike you have to take risks , I did back the winner this year , he may well win again but I’ve already played Lecky Watson as he looks to big , same with the winner today
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 21, 2025 at 18:32 #1727925How dare you suggest to Mike that he might take risks?!? A 4-1 favourite ew 5 places is quite risky enough thank you!
April 21, 2025 at 18:38 #17279274s is a big price for Mike to be fair

As for the Gold Cup V National chat, GC 350K prize money GN prize money 500K, hmm if mine it would be the national.
April 21, 2025 at 18:42 #1727930“Mike007 Free bet?”
No. I usually mention free bet if it was one.
