I would be interested to know although will never know just how much money worldwide was bet on Harringay.
I feel sure that if you put all those punters who backed Harringay together and put them (probably on a football pitch or something larger) with O’Regan I do not think they would say "oh well he made a mistake" and that would be that. I would imagine they would murder him and rightly so.
I would imagine many thousnads if not millions is bet world wide on UK horse racing and this sort of incompetence should not be tolerated.
If jockeys got proper bans rather than punitive ones then it would get rid of these errors.
And no I did not bet Harringay I backed Cathedral Rock.
I just get sick and tired of our so called respected journalists spouting out excuses for what is in effect sheer incompetence and stating well these things happen. They should not happen at all in todays day and age.
I always thought people went horse racing to watch the racing not eat and drink but there again I am old fashioned.
If you want good food go into Sedgefield itself only a couple of minutes from the course with several pubs selling good food before racing dependant on the first race time.
Always liked the track which used to have the longest run in in the country at one time before they placed a fence in the dip before the steep rise to the finish.
Enjoy your day out.

With due respect KS1, you are being more than a little naive.
The horse has been off for 2 years, runs in a discipline it has no experience of, on ground it doesn’t like, and over a distance which it probably doesn’t stay (over hurdles).
Anyone taking the odds on such a horse has cheated themselves, no matter how much they would like to blame it on othersYou may or may mot be aware but Timeform for january are giving away on line a free race card everyday.
For Celestial Gold they write that it stays 4 miles and acts on soft going, so either the horse is not right or it as ran along long way below form.
Blue Chariot
Clearly, if they charged on the back of the Fallon case and the evidence was similar then they had no choice but to drop the charges after what the trial judge said in the Fallon case.
No, I am not part of the current goverment and I certainly would not wish to live in Russia even if they have a 100% conviction rate.
It will be interesting to see if these innocent jockeys and others as people on this forum seem to beleive sue the CPS or the Police for damages and loss of earnings.
The case has been dropped following on from the Fallon et al case being dropped.
It would appear that the CPS would not have sufficient evidence for a succesful prosecution.
My stand does not change and I still beleive the CPS do an excellent job under very difficult and demanding circumstances.
Yes, I saw the race and it was a poor ride by Murphy.
Had he gone on leaving the back stright and gone for home I think he would have won by several lengths. He appearred to be going far better after 4 out than Cousin Nicky, yet Murphy seemed content to sit in behind and a bad jump 3 out cost him 4-5 lenghts, vital momentum and the race.
Thank you David Johnson I agree with you whole heartedly.
It was just the point I was trying to make.
Blue Chariot I am not defending the CPS but to call them incompetent is a little harsh if you have got any idea of the workings of the CPS.
I also never said that Lynch was guilty just that the CPS do not charge unless they have some tangible evidence that will lead to a succesful prosecution.
The fact that the case was thrown out by the judge does not mean that Lynch was totally innocent of any wrong doing and to think so would be naive.
Triple Crown you do not know me so how you can make a comment about me is rather surprising.
My comment was also made tongue in cheek.
However I am be alone but I do not see how people like Lynch coming back to the sport is good for racing. I appreciate a lot of people will say innocent until proven guilty and yes that is the law of our land but it does not get away from the fact that the CPS, however misguided thought it prudent to charge Lynch amongst others.
That is something they do not do lightly and although the case collapsed it does not always follow that the charged person was innocent.
Clearly if you think people like Lynch are good for the sport that is your opinion.
Personally I do not believe any sort of corruption in the sport can be good and until the powers that be take a more robust approach then nothing will change which I believe will lead ultimately lead to the demise in many ways of the sport that I have followed for many years and love.
Tuffers I have to disagree about the viewing at Warwick I think it is very good viewing.
You clearly have never been to Cartmel or Chepstow to name but 2 poor viewing tracks.
I agree with the facilities though at Warwick-not very good.
Nothing changes
I to used to enjoy going to Haydock but last time I went there, there were more drunks that punters. Never again.
Yes I did Triple Crown and Charlie D.
A good day all round.
Lough Derg at big odds is a good e/w saver. Always runs well at Ascot and only got beat by Mighty Man in this race last year at 50/1.
You could do worse.Yes, could not agree more.
I cannot see what difference it makes and must surely suit the ex flat horses in the last 6 furlongs with only 2 hurdles to jump as they can use their speed to better effect.Just heard on At The Races and quote from Aidan O’Brien "everyone knew he had substance addiction before he came here and whilst he was here"
How can racing hold its head up at the minute when you have one of the top triners and I assume the owners aware of their lockey abusing drugs and basically stating that that is fine.
What sort of example does that send out to the young sportsmen of today thinking of a career in racing. They should all hold their heads in shame.
And why is the public not made aware. I hope the police take note of the comments of O’Brien and raid his stable looking for drugs. That would be fun
I have to say that had she been trained by Nicholls or Pipe or O’Neill she would have started a lot shorter. She was very impressive today and coud go to the top
