Just how good the opener at Newbury today was I don’t know, but it was hard not to be impressed with the performance of Helen’s Vision.
She had looked well above average in 5 bumpers last season, despite finishing some way behind Turbo Linn at Aintree, and never looked in trouble on her hurdling debut. Even with the weight she received from the fellas in the race it was an almighty effort to win by such a margin, and a step up to 2m 4f wouldn’t seemingly pose much of a problem.
Not a bad buy for 600gns.
December 1, 2007 at 21:21 #128286I was gutted that she wasn’t in the lists for the Tote Ten to Follow as she would have been one of my first choices
Apparently she wasn’t right that day behind Turbo Linn and after todays display (I posted her as an ew bet to nothing elsewhere) I believe the plan is to aim her at the new mares race at the festival.December 1, 2007 at 21:26 #128289I don’t know if it’s coincidental, but she appears to be carrying identical colours to those of Charmian Hill who owned the greatest jumping mare of all time, Dawn Run.
