From the BHA
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Callum Whillans, the rider of GORGEHOUS LLIEGE (FR), had pulled the gelding up before the last fence when it appeared to be tiring in the Heavy ground, and then walked away from the fence, cantered in and proceeded to jump the last to finish second, beaten 99 plus lengths. They interviewed the rider and the Veterinary Officer, who stated that the gelding had finished tired but not exhausted. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards accepted the rider’s explanation that, noticing there were no other finishers behind him and after giving his horse a breather, he jumped the last fence without difficulty and cantered to the line. Here we go again
"Analyst’s Verdict:
Pain Au Chocolat‘s
Plumpton form received a boost when the
runner-up hacked up at Wetherby next
time and he could take a bit of stopping
in receipt of 4 lb from fellow previous
winners The Saint James and Newbury
winner Old Guard, though strong market
support for the former on his debut for new
connections would put a slightly different
slant on things.Yet we rate The Saint James 4 pounds higher.Should we be weathermen. No matter what we say somewhere along the way we will be right.
He is poor and should go.
After today the way he stayed the 3 miler would be the best route. I thought it was a very taking display and he must have evry chance if he goes there.
Got to say I am no fan of Lucinda Russell and I dare say the horse may have had more success elsewhere. IMO
I don’t think Modem would have won anyway.
The best horse won. In France you would have got the race, but that’s the rulesJanuary 18, 2015 at 12:05 in reply to: Will we ever see an equine "phenom" similar to Arkle? #501976AP it was Mill House not Mill Reef
Can someone explain this conundrum then.
My original post showed Land of Vic reated 1 lb in front on Timeform ratings.
From the Sporting Life
"To celebrate our new Timeform Shortlist service, their jumps editor Dan Barber previews Sprinter Sacre’s return at Ascot.
Ascot also features some familiar faces in the Grade Two OLBG Mares’ Hurdle.
Carole’s Spirit is Timeform top-rated.Gee they have it every way. Why not just pick every horse.
Have to agree eith TAPK.
Superform was better class subscribed right up to their end. What a shame they are no longer aroundJust ignore Timeform.
Again the 1-15 race
1-15
Kings lad 155p
Vivaccio 146
Traffic Fluide 139p
Analyst’s Verdict:
Traffic Fluide
made
a winning start over fences in France in
October and shaped well when fourth in a
C&D Grade 2 last month. He gets the nod
in receipt of weight from all on handicap
debut. Recent Fontwell winner Kings Lad
should run well again despite a 12lb weight hike.Their pick is 16lbs behind on their ratings. Does the left not tell the right what is happening. How do they expect people to buy their product with a discrepancy like that.
seems keen on running and everything looks like it is ready to go.
Will be an intersting race.
If the old SS turns up he should really be 1/4 so may well have a good bet on him if he starts evens, as it could turn out to be the best bet of the century bearing in mind he was 2/9 to beat the current Champion on his seasonal debut last season.
Roll on SaturdayThat’s AW for you
Nijinsky winning the Derby.Absolute class
The Veterinary Officer reported that SHANTOU BOB (IRE), placed third, had bled from the nose.
That explains his poor run
I have to agree with Ricky
Why do we need so much all weather racing. It would be an interesting study to see how much is wagered on all weather as opposed to either NH or flat when they are both on, to see what the public think.
Also what crowds are attracted to AW as opposed to flat and NH when both are on the same day
Tomorrow would be interesting to do it.
I agree he is poor. He needs to go.
