Chelmsford is here , not exactly Dross today , but rest assured it will come ….but what will happen to Kempton , it will be competing with the same pool of trainers for entries

A load of 4 runner fields to follow ….but what does that do for racing ??

Do we need so many AW tracks ??? if yes can someone please explain why

On the bright side at least Richard Hannon Jnr will be able to take his breeders cup no hopefuls for a spin around Chelmsford city without having to confuse them by making them run around Kempton the wrong way.

For someone that has no interest in AW racing you seem to start a lot of threads about it Ricky? Is this something you do on other non racing forums about subjects you have absolutely no interest in?

If it is, maybe another form of interest would be recommended, because this one you have seems a waste of life to me?

you dont look at the big picture at all :D

I am simply saying there is too much all weather racing as it is , British racing has been massively diluted by it , it ruins the great diversity of our racing that attracted loads of fans to it over the years

By putting on more aw races , more aw tracks , you are killing the game we know

Waste of life maybe , but I am stating my abhorence of slowly degrading and downgrading British racing

I have to agree with Ricky
Why do we need so much all weather racing.

It would be an interesting study to see how much is wagered on all weather as opposed to either NH or flat when they are both on, to see what the public think.

Also what crowds are attracted to AW as opposed to flat and NH when both are on the same day

Tomorrow would be interesting to do it.

    I’m with Ricky too.

My approach to AW is to ignore it. I have no more interest in it than synchronised swimming or archery.

The way I see it, Southwell serves no purpose as an A/W track as the form doesnt translate elsewhere. Dump it. Leafy, shocking bias to centre track and only used to pad the jumps fixtures out when it turns to the inevitable mud bath. Dump it. Wolves, Kempton and now Chelmsford serve all need. Tapeta, poly R/H and poly L/H. Do we need more?

Strange thing to say, surely it adds to the diversity.

It would add to the diversity if it comprised 5% of the calendar but the over abundance of AW racing is in danger of turning British racing into the snorefest that is US racing.

And don’t get me started on jumps races being run on polytrack at Lingfield.

Was the purpose of AW racing when it started to at least have some racing if jumps cards were decimated because of a long cold snap during the winter months :?

Nowadays, as happened the other week, when the jumps cards were abandoned so was the AW Southwell card

What will happen if Catterick or Newcastle get the green light too ? No 4 runner races allowed so will we see 2 or 3 race cards ?

All it needs is one track in the south, one in the midlands and one up north and fixtures rationed too.

Not sure if u were tongue in cheek, ‘leafy’ is Lingfield. But the track is a farce. If u are < four wide around the home turn its race over. Whether u are leading or not you get run down by fast finishers on the outside. Its a bookies track, built from the ground up to be unpredictable
One thing is for sure, Newmarket runners will go to Chelmsford, leaving Lingfield with smaller cards

Sorry, but I’ve never heard it referred to like that. I thought it was some weird track surface description you were talking about.

More Chelmsford on ATR means less AW crap at Kempton on RUK :)

Southwell loses just its second artificial surface meeting out of 378 held since the start of 2008 (excluding those written off due to the 2012-13 floods), and somehow it’s failed. Has it hell.
