Instead of focusing on attracting new viewers they ought to remember why people watch it. Where was the in depth analysis of todays racing…
I dont know. Lets see how it goes but i wont be tuning in just to watch pointless ‘guest tests’ and ‘guides to betting’…

Never seen it. So awful. They do nothing for our sport. hope the horse was ok?
A few years ago went to York on a Saturday with my little boy who was about 2 at the time, NEVER AGAIN, firstly ended up getting stuck in the betting ring in the crowds (as you get) when a group of lads started chatting me up, one peering down my top so obviously, like head in my face bending right over! They were being so crude and surrounded me, was awful. Lots more drunken incidents happened thereafter, people stumbling into you, drunken women talking above commentary, swearing, aggressiveness, smoking in your face etc etc. Would never go again on a Saturday. However i had been previously to York on a weekend and it had never ben as bad as that day.

Arctic Cosmos is the one for me staying on over twelve!! Looks tailor made for the trip, its juts a case of whether it is good enough or not!!! I am on at various prices and will be there on the day to back Arctic again!!

I’m on at 10-1 looks a very good thing. Bit further than what he’s used to but think shouldn’t be a problem the way he has looked in previous races

Ok i’m probably his biggest fan but Derek Thompson has to be one of the nicest people in racing i’ve met – other than a stable guy who looked after my horse Feels Like Heaven few years ago. Never got his name but was soooooo nice and always so lovely with my little boy and if seen him at races when he had other horses in parade ring he’d go out of his way to wave and say hello at us. Always made you feel special haha. Was worth paying over the odds for a hoof in a syndicate that was going nowhere!! ha.
Anyway tommo, at York few years ago he was working and looked stressed to death and rushing and being ordered about obviously working, and all these people kept stopping him for autographs, pictures (i was going to be one of them but thought better of it) and he was so nice to every single person and gave them all time even though a little bloke behind him was shouting for him to move to the parade ring. I’ve seen him a canny few times now at Sedgefield, York, Redcar, Wetherby and Newmarket etc and he is always so nice if you say hello or ask him for a tip. He’s a genuinely nice man that’s why i really hate it when he gets stick on here.
Another, is Jockey Royston Ffrench, actually where is he nowadays don’t think i’ve seen him about for a while. But going from what i’ve seen he is a really nice guy. Seen him at Newcastle and came over to say what a lovely little boy my son was as he’d just started walking at time and we were walking down the tunnel there and he asked if was having a nice day etc… just totally out of the blue after he’d lost on the favourite ha. And when visiting Ann Duffields stables he was there helping a new starter by looks of it, just seemed really pleasant chap.

Actually to be fair so many racing folk are lovely. The other people who are the nicest are the regular racegoers you get at the likes of Catterick, Sedgefield, Wetherby, Hexham (and sure up and down the country but i’ve not been so can’t comment!) etc, such lovely lovely people.

RIP. I know northern racing will never be quite the same again. Many a winner and loser i have, and millions others have had announced by him. He always seemed such a pleasant person when seen him at Sedgefield. Always with a sleeveless jumper/ tank top on over his shirt, quite endearing somehow. So sad.
His family should be very proud of him.
    RIP :-(

I will refuse to watch the Morning Line with their weak 3rd grade presenters. I’m sorry but for all those people who slag Thommo, Down and MrCririck off at least they were better than this drivel. Why oh why are they not featuring the older presenters now? If they are trying to make it a ‘younger’ team for younger presenters it’s not working. I’m 25, which i think is still young ha (or youngish ha) and i would still much rather watch the old style show. It’s what got me into racing seeing the Morning Line Saturday mornings before i went to work. The banter was good and there was real passion about horses and real debates. It really caught me and from there got into racing.
Fair enough they will need to replace older members of their team, but why can’t they have the likes of Lydia Hislop, Alex Quinn, Hugh Taylor even and other, better presenters and racing knowledgable people. I actually like the guy Stewart Machin but Spencer and Cattermole don’t really deserve to be front runners for the big meetings. They don’t seem to have that passion and seemingly only look up the form for the meetings on that particular day. I may well be wrong but it’s what comes across. Shame on whoever is producing C4 Racing at the moment. BRING BACK TOMMO!!

Actually you look like the fool thinking that it was the presenters fault :P  . It does annoys me too the way people slag him off when look at the C4 coverage without him… Zzzzzzzz. He’s really good for the sport imo.
    Tommo rules man!!

My goodness how awful :-( How sad this is. Whatever and however the reason for his demise it is a great loss. I for one never was a big fan of his commentary but there was something quite charming and familiar hearing him at Sedgefield and Hexham. Racing was what he loved and enjoyed like we all do. Oh how sad. I’ve been really down since hearing this.

RIP, northern racing won’t be the same again :-(

Why oh why are Emma Spencer and Mike Cattermole the main presenters now? What are the producers thinking? I’m sure they’re lovely people but they both make me cringe so much and they just aren’t good! If they’re trying to attract a new ‘younger’ crowd to C4 racing then it’s not the way to go about it, i’m early twenties and would much rather watch the previous full time presenters such as leslie graham, tommo, alistair down, even alice plunket is better. And where was tommo for York? He always does York, it made my experience of the meeting that much more disappointing booo! ha.
Seriously though whatever the producers are doing they’re going the wrong way about it.

I agree! they should have names of commentator. If Tommo was commentating at Sedgefield it would sway my decision to go. I’m serious ha. Ok, yes i need to get a life…
