Well who is lining their pocket then? with all this drink being sold why is there such poor prize money and extreme entry fees?
October 9, 2010 at 22:54 #321604Drugs on the racecourse?
Who’d have thought it?We’ll have jockeys failing breath tests and testing positive for all sorts of banned substances next!
Trainers and jockeys might even be found guilty of cheating these junkies out of precious drink and drug money.
How does anyone propose the use of drugs in the lavatories of racecorses, namely Cocaine, be controlled?
How does anyone feel about, say, the idea of random breath/drug tests on race goers? Twice over the drink drive limit and you’re out?
October 9, 2010 at 22:56 #321606It isn’t just drink though, there’s alot of drugs being done at racecourses, I’ve seen it in the toilets, especially in the south.
Spot on
I have a friend who is a security guard at a southern racecouse and he will support your claim
October 9, 2010 at 22:58 #321607Cannot disagree with any of the sentiments mentioned here, apart from the nonsense written by Mr Wilson.
I remember the days at Sandown when drinkers weren’t allowed out of the grandstand with a pint in their hands, those days are long since gone now especially at places like Aintree on National day when every other step I make is on plastic glasses.
Last time I went to Sandown there were staff employed to flog lager from backpacks to racegoers in the stands and enclosures
October 9, 2010 at 23:10 #321609Absolutely right Lingfield, that’s one of the reasons I don’t go to Sandown as much as I used to
October 10, 2010 at 07:57 #321624Just seen at Chepstow, some idiot has tried to jump onto Escortman in the winners enclosure after the race, Ruby Walsh absolutely livid
Walsh was clearly very angry about something even before the incident occurred in the winner’s enclosure. There was speculation on ATR that it involved a photographer who was too close to the action after the last hurdle.
October 10, 2010 at 08:39 #321630Rather than very angry, thought Ruby was quite restrained. Would have liked to have seen him give the idiot a damn good thrashing.
October 10, 2010 at 09:00 #321636Never seen it. So awful. They do nothing for our sport. hope the horse was ok?
A few years ago went to York on a Saturday with my little boy who was about 2 at the time, NEVER AGAIN, firstly ended up getting stuck in the betting ring in the crowds (as you get) when a group of lads started chatting me up, one peering down my top so obviously, like head in my face bending right over! They were being so crude and surrounded me, was awful. Lots more drunken incidents happened thereafter, people stumbling into you, drunken women talking above commentary, swearing, aggressiveness, smoking in your face etc etc. Would never go again on a Saturday. However i had been previously to York on a weekend and it had never ben as bad as that day.October 10, 2010 at 09:28 #321641One of the pleasures of going racing midweek was to avoid instances like that but with more and more races shifted to a Saturday opportunities are less and less.
It makes me sick when people like William Derby go on television and say having the Ebor on Saturday will be good for betting turnover and go unchallenged by the interviewer. Why don’t they just tell the truth, it will be good for York racecourse with an extra 15 thousand or so gate but it will not be good for betting turnover as a whole due to the lost high profile day midweek which will not be made up on the Saturday.October 24, 2010 at 23:08 #324377"Mr.Wilson" wrote: Typical jumps racing, unorganised amateur chaos.
Flat anyday for me, more sophisticated.
How anyone could prefer the flat is beyond me when you look at the majestic Monet’s Garden fend off all challengers in the Old Roan on Saturday.
There was never a performance that could be compared with that of the old grey during the whole flat season imo

No wonder TAPK rips you a new backside at every opportunity Mr. W..

The jumps is a much freindlier game all round. From Old man Pipe to Peter Monteith I’ve met and spoken to countless national hunt people. Everone I met I found to be extremely friendly, funny and loved to extract the urine out of each other. The crack was brilliant to say the least. Apart from a certain Mr.Br*wn* that is, who would con his own mother, a man who a certain jockey described, in an untimely interview, as a liar and stone mad, but there’s always one or two in any game.
Not exactly knocking the flat when I say I couldn’t quite imagine me having a pint and a jaw with SMS or AOB after racing or being invited along for some pheasant at the Hare and Hounds.
It’s one thing stating your preference Mr Wilson but slagging off a game and people you obviously know nothing about makes you an easy target for our resident p1ss taker TAPK, so unless you want ridiculed to death can I suggest you think before I put finger to keyboard.
Don’t take anything he says to heart btw all harmless fun at the end of the day.
Some drunk did something stupid and was sorted out end of story.
Hopefully if it happens again it will be the next Lady Godiva which would be much more interesting
