But really, welcome to the forum and I did enjoy your links. Hope you have lots of fun and success on the racecourse…I’m sure your horse will be popular with lots of people.
KAugust 5, 2010 at 14:30 #311117Absolutely beautiful, welcome to the forum
August 5, 2010 at 14:35 #311121Did you capture that from a council estate in Dublin?

He’s no George Washington in the looks department, but best of luck with him!
Keep us updated.August 5, 2010 at 14:55 #311124Welcome to The Racing Forum, Angrove. Great to have you here.
I enjoyed looking at your site/photos. Can’t wait to hear more of the horse.
August 5, 2010 at 15:15 #311125Thanks for the lovely warm welcome glad you like him he is quiet a character and one for the ladies like his Pa!
I do hope he runs like Georgous George! and behaves in the bedroom like his Sire !http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh441/angrovestud/Patch/sept6.jpg
his pedigree
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/angrove+rum+baba
He shares a little bit of George Washington in his pedigree as we have some Danehill on the dams side.
I dont have the time to visit council estates I am to busy helping my stallion cover his ladies!August 5, 2010 at 15:41 #311127The world is falling in around us. What are the rules about what is regarded as a Thoroughbred, and wot ain’t? The weird thing is, the Thoroughbred part of the pedigree is very distinguished apart from Coco La Terrour, and he himself (CLT) is very distinguished apart from his damline. Forgot what I was going to write next.
August 5, 2010 at 15:52 #311132Remember seeing the appropriately-named Speedybird (on his maternal side) blitz a maiden at Warwick a good few years ago and she quite often pops up in the back story of decent horses.
Best of luck.
Mike
August 5, 2010 at 16:04 #311133Oh, I love coloured horses. Years ago I used to ask why there were never any coloured horses racing, but never got an answer. I’ll watch out for this one [well, can’t miss it, really!]
August 5, 2010 at 16:06 #311134The rules are very simple if you register a horse meaning Satllion in the NTR with Weatherbys and you breed to a General Stud book mare after 7 generations breeding to pure TB in the GSB you can register the 8th generation as a Pure TB.
We are in the process of adding a colour gene called Tobiano to the Thoroughbred this is a very long project.
you could register 2 shetland ponies in the ntr and you could race them, you would however look real silly! Our Horses is out of Bond Angel Eyes pure TB and very well bred, black type dam line, by our 3/4TB Stallion who again was by a very well bred horse a full brother to a group winner and sire of a group winner and half brother to another group winner bred for the English Derby but sadly just not quick enough and unlike most TBs that dont perfom he was lucky due to his breeding to be purchased as a stallion.
He did however sire a Puissance winner showjumping which means there is plenty of ability in the pedigree to jump.
Rummy as he is know by is a 7/8TH TB and is 87.5% TB Blood.
if he was bay you would not be able to tell he was not pure.
thank you I will keep you updated as he progresses everytone thinks coloured cant race its just a colour.
Thats so interesting regarding A Bit Special another daughter of Speedybird she won at Thirsk was and then was sold to the states were she won $49,000 and her daughter by Smart strike miss Blakley Boynton Beach Stakes 3rd placed in the Twin lights stakes , 3rd in the Woodbine Canadian Oaks race in Canada.August 10, 2010 at 22:42 #312120Interesting thread and interesting idea.
Bonny looking horse though I hope he gets some hind shoes on soon as looks like he’s running out of hoof from some of those pics!

Good luck with him and your project.
Keep us posted, looking forward to hearing more about him in the future.
August 11, 2010 at 08:10 #312147Welcome to the Forum – it’d be great if you could keep us updated with progress as I’m sure he’ll develop a real fan club.
Very best of luck.
August 11, 2010 at 08:53 #312151Starting to have dreams of a piebald horse winning the Grand National, I am…….
August 11, 2010 at 09:06 #312152Thank you all! well there was Pie in National velvet with Liz taylor I would love to keep you updated this has been a passion for me for over 20 years I have dreamed about bloodlines and colour and we have two very special mares in Rummys pedigree Milan Mill and Special and Little Tobago and Speedybird what fantastic ladies! all dams of great stallions
August 11, 2010 at 09:33 #312156I think that is the ugliest Thoroughbred I’ve ever seen and sincerely hope it never sees a racecourse in its life.
August 11, 2010 at 10:09 #312162It always bothered me that they used a chestnut horse in the film and not a piebald! Many years ago, when I was in the Desert Orchid Fan Club, I asked Richard Burridge if he could
paint a few black splodges on Dessie and remake the film, but he said it wouldn’t be the same without Liz Taylor. [Supposedly, it was an accident during filming that gave Liz Taylor the bad back that has plagued her throughout her life] Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Pompete, and I adore coloured horses and would probably go out of my way to see one in a race. I suppose a worry could be that they would invariably have the dreaded ‘four white feet’, but I’m not sure how true to link with unsoundness is.
August 11, 2010 at 12:42 #312202Pompete wrote…..I think that is the ugliest Thoroughbred I’ve ever seen and sincerely hope it never sees a racecourse in its life.
I believe the mid-wife said something similar to my Mother when I was born…"I think that is the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen and sincerely hope it never sees a betting shop in its life."
Just goes to show…..looks aren’t everything.
