4 The Last SamuraiThe flat doesn’t really start till the Craven meeting. The Lincoln meeting is just thrown into the peak of the jumps season when no-one really cares about the flat. Next big meeting is Aintree then after that attention turns to the flat.
Ruby Walsh.
Makes it look so simple but rides the track perfectly.
10/1 Might Bite for the Gold Cup is an insane price.
If the ground was normal Gold Cup ground he would’ve won Friday. Decent ground next year and it’ll take something special to beat him.

3 Killultagh VicTwo notable losers which hit me hard at the time. Barton Bank falling at the last in the 1994 King George when way clear, just couldn’t believe it and Celtic Swing getting touched off by Pennekamp in the 2000 Guineas 1995.
Best result was a double Kauto Star at Haydock and Hardy Eustace at Ascot 2007. I thought they were both absolute certainties and for once I was right. I had a double that made nearly £3000 profit.
Gosden confirms Cracksman won’t run in one of the most head-scratching decisions in recent memory:
He does this from time to time. I still haven’t got over Gosden stupidly withdrawing Golden Horn from the King George a couple of years ago.
Personally I thought Cracksman was tailor-made for the Leger however as he was never going to run there the Arc was always the only reasonable “other” target.
Silly decision not to run in my book, won’t have the pace for the Champion Stakes, this horse is a middle distance stayer.
I didn’t see anything wrong with the presentation. Chapman is excitable but it beats stuffy and boring anytime.
Jockeys get some stick sometimes but that was one hell of a ride by Crowley. Reminded me of Francome on Sea Pigeon.
Where are the Frankel 2yo’s? We’ve barely seen any in the UK.
Matt’s done it again
Irish trainer Gordon Elliott is refusing to do any interviews with At The Races after Matt called him “Fatboy” on air.Elliott says he felt “highly disrespectful” and told Gary O’Brien it would be his last interview on the channel the interview was not broadcast to viewers.
It is claimed Elliott and Chapman had a face to face confrontation in the yard pub in Newmarket over it.
Chapman claims it has been blown out of proportion and that Elliott calls him Orangeboy and he calls him Fatboy.
This is interesting. I’ve become quite a fan of Chapman’s over the last couple of years or so I believe he brings entertainment to the sport and he’s good at his job. It’s clear he has close relationships with many people inside the sport you can tell that from his informal / friendly easy going attitude towards his guests on Sunday Forum in particular.
While this approach is admirable in many ways it also can create a problem regarding professional boundaries. It may be true that Chapman and Elliot call each other “orange boy” and “fatboy” and that’s fine in private if those pair are happy to share that sort of banter but maybe that’s where it should remain – in private.
There are private relationships and there are professional relationships, both need to be respected for their differences and for what they are.
Heffernan really did a number on Buick. Wouldn’t have done that to Dettori.

The winner’s a tough horse mind.
What did Peslier do wrong?
Yep, just watched it back again and I was being harsh on Peslier. The horse was boxed in for a few strides at the top of the straight but to be fair to Peslier nobody could have ridden it much better.
I retract my statement.
Khalidi just needed another twenty yards.

Nothing at all and I was on Khalidi at 20’s.
Ground may be faster on the round course. Better time for the second race than the opener.
Opening race 2.20 above standard over 6f. That is getting on towards good to soft ground (there is apparently a headwind). Stickels has made a right mess of the course this week.
He’ll probably put another 4mm on tonight.
