I hope if Barney Roy has got a chance to win Doyle doesn’t mess it up. Don’t have much faith in him as a jockey. What he should do is use the horse’s huge stride and send him on in the straight like Frankie did in the last.
Glad you’re not riding him, Judge.
Value Is EverythingAugust 23, 2017 at 15:32 #1315050Ulysses is shorter in the place market than Churchill so I’ve decided not to lay Churchill in that now (3 and 4 places)

August 23, 2017 at 15:32 #1315051Churchill looks magnificent- think I’m on the wrong one here
August 23, 2017 at 15:34 #1315052Barney looks agitated to me and think he could be keen in the race.
August 23, 2017 at 15:34 #1315053Shutter Speed for me.
August 23, 2017 at 15:38 #1315056Yeah Doyle is hopeless as I was thinking.
Horse not good enough anyway- should have just backed Cracksman today and left that random race alone.
August 23, 2017 at 15:40 #1315057What an amazing horse Ulysses is to be able to give half a stone and a convincing beating to Barney & Churchill.
Remember what Enable did to him?
August 23, 2017 at 15:42 #1315058The terrible three year old trend continues in this race
As i stated couldnt see why barney roy could reverse the form 3lbs worse off than last time
Glad i had the saver lol
August 23, 2017 at 15:43 #1315059Very impressive. Crowley perhaps helping make this horse. Well done backers.

Doyle rode Barney exactly how you told him to, Judge.
Value Is EverythingAugust 23, 2017 at 15:49 #1315062Jockeys get some stick sometimes but that was one hell of a ride by Crowley. Reminded me of Francome on Sea Pigeon.
August 23, 2017 at 15:53 #1315065I think Richard Hughes would like to come out of retirement if he was allowed to ride Ulysses.

August 23, 2017 at 15:53 #1315066It’s gone fairly unmentioned but what a cracking run from Churchill. Off since Royal Ascot, an 11th hour defection from the Sussex in between, upped in trip to what many believed beyond his capabilities, run on ground presumed softer than idea and despite all that and seemingly flat footed at a crucial part of the race he’s battled on to get past Barney Roy who was well on top of him in June.
I’d love to see him take on Barney Roy again in the QE2. I think they’re both as good at a mile but don’t see any reason they should turn around form with Ulysses in the Champion Stakes (if he runs there).

Stoute just said the main target for Ulysses is the Breeders Cup and they’ll work back from there. Does that mean might not run in the Champion?

You would think that rules the champion stakes out altogether
August 23, 2017 at 16:08 #1315080Only myself to blame for deserting Ulysses after backing him in The Eclipse.
Cliffs Of Moher simply wasn’t anywhere near good enough today. He doesn’t look a group 1 horse.
Ulysses beat the Guineas, St James’ Palace stakes winners and the Derby runner up today and did so in excellent fashion. He stands clear of the 3YO generation.
Churchill looked really well today, he travelled very well and it looked on retrospect that Cliffs Of Moher was running to set it up for him.
Barney Roy ran well enough, I wonder if the 10F is what he needs though. Churchill reversed the form from Royal Ascot and the Hannon horse didn’t seem to finish his race off as well as the other two. It’s all very well Hannon holding the horse in the highest regard but he’s come up short a few times now.
Quite why Shutter Speed was running was a mystery to me. It is a well documented fact that the horse hates the soft. She ran on it once and won despite the surface but she looked to run out of petrol in the Prix Diane and was up against older horses and colts this time. The jockey was looking down on her as they came home today and maybe they have raxed the filly. She was not progressing at anything like the rate Enable was and may go down as a trivial pursuit question of the future for beating Enable, rather than making a name for herself on the track. She looks a bust to me.
Ulysses was 6/1 for the Breeders Cup Turf, surely that had to be better than 5/1 Cracksman in the same race?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 23, 2017 at 16:27 #1315092What a performance, he hacked up! Hopefully goes for the Arc now then the BC like Pilsudski did as a 4YO
