What a performance, he hacked up! Hopefully goes for the Arc now then the BC like Pilsudski did as a 4YO

Hopefully those are his two races between now and retirement. I put him up each-way at 25/1 for the Arc with the thinking that it’s 5/1 to place behind Enable again. If there’s quicker ground there’s every chance he could narrow the gap at Chantilly and I’d fancy him to finish ahead of Highland Reel. Nothing else really looks like anything to worry about.
August 23, 2017 at 17:13 #1315104I hope he will be on the go next year Charles and not retire. He is still getting better each race.

Totally agree with quicker ground he can give the Filly a race.
“I think he is as good at 12 furlongs, don’t forget the King George was run in a swamp, it wasn’t ideal conditions for him. Today’s performance would put him up there, if not in front of them.”
August 23, 2017 at 17:48 #1315111Yeah Doyle is hopeless as I was thinking.
Horse not good enough anyway- should have just backed Cracksman today and left that random race alone.
Doyle rode Barney exactly how you told him to, Judge.

That’s true, and in hindsight it was a mistake, because it made him a sitting duck for Ulysesse.
Or however you spell it. Anyway betting 250 on that race was a mistake. Above my paygrade. Shouldn’t be betting so much but putting 300 on Cracksman at 10-11 rescued it, need to tone it down for the rest of the meeting. Betting those sort of amounts you lose your objectivity.
August 23, 2017 at 18:29 #1315114Have to say, I thought James Doyle gave Barney Roy no chance whatsoever. Ulysses was seriously impressive, though.
August 23, 2017 at 18:36 #1315115I dont think james gave him no chance, COM wasnt rattling out front and its been shown if barney roy dosent have blistering pace or lots of cover he pulls and races freely, letting him bowl along in front was probably the smart playas COM sas obviously not going quick enough (shoulda had toscanini in their) they set COM to do a job at the front and keep the pace fair without it damaging churchills chances.
But in hindsight the info was their and the weight swing should always have meant ulysses confirmed the form from the eclipse
August 24, 2017 at 08:07 #1315192That was a tremendous run by Churchill and on better ground he would have been much closer. I’d be tempted to go back to a mile s winter I would think will go for the champion stakes. He’s such a beautiful mover it was obvious he ground was against him.
August 24, 2017 at 09:19 #1315199I think they’ll definitely want Churchill in the irish champion stakes. They like their best stallions to win it. In fact I reckon he’ll win it. He’s unbeaten in Ireland after all.
August 25, 2017 at 13:59 #1315535They have obviously had issues with Churchill judging by his St James palace run. His run in the juddmonte was very encouraging and if he gets decent ground in the Irish champion then he’ll go very close. Ulysses was the best stayer in the race and on that ground it showed. On a quicker leapordstown track I can see the form reversed.
