Steve agreed re Yanworth. He is too slow to win a Champion Hurdle and his jumping isn’t sharp or slick enough. I can understand why they went for the Champion but the Stayers would be the better race for him. 2/1 was ridiculous.
Thank you.
It’s last years Supreme novices form. That race was electric.
Buveur D’Air will scorch home in the Champion Hurdle. Different level to the rest of them.
Ahem!

The “return to http://www.racingpost.com” link seems to appear and disappear at regular intervals.
Why don’t they just abandon this awful new site and just continue with the one we’re all used to. The “old” site is far, far better.
I’d like to know why they have Willoughby analysing Dubai meetings. The channel is called Racing UK not Racing UK and UAE.
I like their live racing coverage but their other programmes are generally poor. This Racing Life is an absolute bore usually.

Smith is on ATR now with Matt Chapman. Interesting stuff.
Absolutely brilliant. Phil Smith was fantastic he completely owned Matt Chapman. How he didn’t throw something at Chappers I don’t know. Top bloke and he and Matt bounce off each other, makes wonderful viewing.
Typical of Kelleway to make a crass contribution at the end of the show. Everything I’ve seen of that woman makes me think she is absolutely horrible. When she’s on Sunday Forum I literally turn it off. Can’t stand the woman.
Would you believe it? I have been using the new site for about 10 days now, have got used to it and am getting along fine with it. The key changes they made to when the new site originally sprouted, particularly reducing the sizing to only a little larger than on the old site and reinstating jockeys’ 5-year records, have made it workable for me. I still have a few minor quibbles but it seems to be improving all the time and there are as many pros as cons. I am a convert, I have seen the light, praise be to Centurycomm lol

Have they? How do you access that, I can’t find it.

Just click on the jockey’s name and it’s right towards the top of the jockey’s page and you can click on the ‘v’ icon to swap between last 5 years/current season/jumps/flat/Ireland/etc.
Thank you.

The thing I really like about Altior is that he really finds when off the bridle. Some horses that look “brilliant” don’t find when they need to find, Altior does.
I’d back him in a match with Douvan. We haven’t seen Douvan come under real pressure yet and in Buveur D’Air, Min and Petit Mouchoir (from that red hot Supreme last year) it can be reasonably argued that Altior has beaten better horses than Douvan has to date.
I think its absolute rubbish. I watched it three or four times but just found it pointless.
I’ve even started to watch the ITV coverage from time to time I didn’t bother with Channel 4 Racing at all just stuck to RUK and ATR.
I think the ITV coverage is very, very good, a huge improvement on Channel 4’s coverage.
Just as sexist attitudes were improving here… this is going to reinforce or reintroduce sexism in British Racing in future. France’s move will have a detrimental effect on female riders in Britain. Owners will see women getting 4 lbs in France and 0 lbs here and think their horse will have a disadvantage when putting up a lady rider. They might disagree with the 4 lbs, but 2 or 1 lb can be critical. Owners don’t want their horses to run at a disadvantage; particularly a disadvantage they can do something about.
Personally, I don’t think that will happen. I don’t think it will change too many opinions. If it did you are making an argument for the allowance to be introduced here as well.
Those who quote the likes of Gordon and Turner as success stories how many more can you name? I guess an enthusiast would be lucky to name a dozen from around the world. Given the number of women riders that figure is ridiculously small.
I don’t see this as such a bad idea in fact as it seems to have rattled Chris Cook’s cage I am beginning to see it as a very good idea.
I think Chris Cook’s idea of giving an extra percentage of the win prize money to connections for a winner ridden by a female jockey is a much better idea than this allowance.
I think the allowance is unfair on the men and pretty insulting to the girls. It’s all but telling someone like Josephine Gordon that she isn’t as good as a man and she certainly is. Hugo Palmer seems to think so too. Not to mention the likes of Nina Carberry, Hayley Turner, Katie Walsh ….. .
You have named four and stopped which is exactly the point I was making.
They need to be given greater opportunities it isn’t that they aren’t good enough. Trainers / owners need to be putting females on good horses. It’s the attitudes of connections that are holding the girls back. Giving the girls an allowance isn’t the answer.

The show is aimed at, and indeed catered for, none of the types of people that are on a horse racing online forum.
Exactly this.
One thing I hear time and again from people not particularly interested in horse racing when they see it on TV is “it’s boring”. ITV are catering for casual viewers. Some of those “casuals” may become more interested but they will only do that if they understand and are entertained by ITV’s coverage.
I don’t watch terrestrial coverage but I thought I’d have a look at ITV’s first production just to see what it was like and I thought they did a good job, I certainly never thought “This is boring” which I did the last few times I tuned into C4 Racing.
There was no in depth analysis but there doesn’t need to be for the target audience. Chapman briefly explained betting odds and I think that was a good thing because there will have been viewers that don’t understand and if you don’t understand something you’re not likely to get involved in it.
ITV didn’t spend too much time on anything the show moved quite quickly, again that’s important to retain people’s interest.
Not a bad start. There will be things that need improving on but that’s perfectly natural after one show.
I disagree with you guys I actually am pretty surprised I think its good.
Its important to remember they are not aiming at a Racing UK audience, this is essentially for the casual / less informed viewer and I think their product has been really good so far. It has an entertaining feel to it and is definitely better than Channel 4 coverage.
Personally I think Brennan did absolutely nothing wrong!!
He tried to put pressure on Thistlecracks jumping which IMO was the best way to try to win the race.
That’s not the way Cue Card is ridden to best effect though. Cue Cards great successes in his latter years have been when delivered lateish from off the pace.
I thought it was a poor ride from Brennan. I can see why he did what he did but I’m pretty certain if he could re-run the race he would do things very differently.
