I think you’re totally out of order, IBRacing. Where did that come from?
Day 1 saw numerous course record times, suggesting the ground was borderline firm. Nobody wants to see good horses jarred-up and ruined on that sort of surface at a prestigious meeting. This is Ascot, not Musselburgh!
With more baking hot days and drying breezes, I think watering is essential. They just need to keep it safe.
If you read closely I did say I understand the need to water after day one.
My issue is the amount of watering. 14mm in three days is ridiculous. The amount of watering has created draw bias twice and reduced the ground based on times to good yesterday.
I haven’t heard one person claim that Tuesday’s ground was unsafe by the way.

I like the layout of the place including where there are some bookies up some little steps. The food outlets are good and the food is nice, it’s easy to get a drink. The staff are very friendly, the paddock is nice and right by the racetrack pretty much. Nice size for my liking.
York for a group 1 track was a bit disappointing. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice enough but the food choice there I found was limited and it may have been just the weather on the day but it was windy as hell when I went.
Cheltenham is good but the sheer number of people there can cause a problem getting around. I haven’t been since they built the new grandstand so I expect it may be better now.
Warwick, like York is a constant wind tunnel, viewing not great.
Bath was a nice enough little track when I went there a couple of years ago but a bit basic as I suppose you’d expect from a small racecourse.
In order most to least favourite:
Nottingham
Cheltenham
York
Bath
Warwick1 Barney Roy
2 Churchill
3 EmminentVenusian.
It is racism is it? OK.
Racing UK is called Racing UK. For my subscription I expect comprehensive coverage of UK meetings that’s what I pay for. I don’t like the coverage diluted by showing overseas flat racing in the jumps season. It doesn’t float my boat.
The RUK subscription isn’t cheap and when I’m paying the sort of money that I am I want to see what I want to see.
The insinuations and the attitude I’ll leave to you.
It’s a shame they’re not covering the Dubai World Cup meeting rather than the not very interesting fare on offer at Newbury and Kelso.
Disagree big time.
I watched the entire ITV coverage just to escape the Dubai stuff which completely wrecked RUK’s coverage this afternoon.
From a punting point of view I came out on top but overall I was a little underwhelmed by this years festival.
There were a lack of stand out performances which you’d have thought would’ve made races more competitive but that wasn’t really the case particularly on the third and forth days.
What the festival really highlighted was the lack of good horses in Britain. Only Nicky Henderson has any real firepower with Altior, Buveur D’Air and Mite Bight. Colin Tizzard was unlucky with the loss of Thistlecrack. Paul Nicholls’ once formidable stable is formidable no more. One winner in one of the lesser events is a truly sad state of affairs.
O’Leary has made himself look an absolute fool with his rantings about Phil Smith and his handicapping of the Irish horses. They need rising further in the handicap, they have run riot at the festival to the stage where it finally became embarrassing to GB.
Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliot are leagues ahead in terms of firepower right now. It was nice to see Jessie Harrington have a good end to the week. Sizing John is a welcome addition to the staying chasing ranks. Next years Gold Cup has the potential to be some race with maybe Yorkhill, Thistlecrack, Sizing John and Might Bite in the line up.
Cheltenham 2017 was good enough but there have been better festivals. Roll on 2018.
I’m sick of reading / hearing how it is good ground at Cheltenham. It’s good to soft no quicker and was soft earlier in the week. Check the winning times. Only two have sneaked on to barely standard the Champion Hurdle and the Gold Cup.
It isn’t and never has been good ground all week.
Richard Hoiles could barely breathe after they crossed the line lol. That commentary was truly great. Best commentator around.
I’ve always said Altior will beat Douvan. Altior WILL get Douvan out of his comfort zone. Even if things get a bit tough for Altior he ALWAYS finds under pressure and he finds lots. Douvan would have to beat Altior on the bridle and that simply won’t happen.
For once something got Douvan out of his comfort zone. He’s controlled pretty much all of his races. Today Special Tiara got him out of his comfort zone and Douvan fell apart.
I’m not shocked he got beat. Surprised yes, he was 1/4?? after all but I’m not completely shocked.
That has to be one of the best races I’ve ever seen. Unbelievable.
What a magnificent race to kick off day 2. The way Neon Wolf travelled I can’t help thinking they should’ve gone for the two miler.
My Nap of the festival Brain Power managed to beat just Cyrus Darius!
haha I think I will never post on this forum to stop misleading people
My second best best Charli Parcs will probably finish last…Lol. This game makes fools of all of us mate it ain’t just you, if that’s any consolation.
