"…and pace!" fivelongdays, don’t forget that!

    Also Class, of course.

Question is with their Natural Speed, Pace and Class, why do so many of his horses not run in sprints?

AOB: "He’s got so much natural speed!"
Cynical Punter: "But he’s a cow. He is an actual, honest to God, actual Bos Primigenius."
AOB: "But he’s got so much natural speed!"

    And so ad infinitum.

I’m being a bit harsh on the man, of course – just a shame that this season he’s been focusing more on the (admittedly not-too-shabby) RVW, the past it Fame And Glory, the hypemachine that is St Nicholas Abbey* and the really rather pointless Jan Vermeer and not really given the Mile-and-a-half UBERHORSE** Cape Blanco the credit/races he’s deserved.

*Do we honestly think that we’ll see SNA on the track again, or will he be packed off to stud where he’ll be able to put his So Much Natural Speed to good use? Personally, I’d like to see him stop running in the bumpers and do some hurdling ;)

**That’s UBERHORSE over 10 furlongs, of course.

Imperial Commander 14/1 ew looks a cracking bet.

There are many reasons i love reading Fists Posts, he knows how horse racing operates better than most,he always gives his own unique style of opinion,in depth and accurate and then he comes out with the above! Like i said all last year much to poor old Reet Hards dismay!

    Imperial commander

is a Gold Cup horse,he has No chance of winning a King George even if Kauto star doesn"t run! Kempton is just too fast for him,he is a Cheltenham specialist!

With all due respect, Your Majesty, I can see where he’s coming from. Bear in mind he survived a pretty terrible error to finish in fifth last year, second or third this year is not beyond the realms of possibility.

He could be one for the forecast (along with Forpadydeplasterer, Long Run, Kempes and Uncle Tom Cobbleigh an’ all), but just that.

You may be the King of Ante-Post, Sire, but even you will have to bow before The King of King(George)s, come Boxing Day!

Kempes won the 3m Novice Chase at Punchestown, and looked as if the longer distance really suited him. I know his trainer is looking at ‘2 1/2 miles and up’, but I’d rather see him go for something longer than this. SERIOUS potential, IMHO.

The arguments over ratings is somewhat futile. The overriding fact is that Sea The Stars competed in six group 1 races as a 3 year old, winning all; ranging from a mile to a mile and half, and defeating every horse put up against him – some of whom went on to win group 1 races at the end of that year and this.

The bottom line is that Sea The Stars was one outstanding racehorse.

Mick Kinane is adamant that he is the best he has ever ridden. That alone speaks volumes if you consider some of the great horses he partnered during his career.

    Exactly.

I know – I just know – that I’m going to turn into an old man who will not countenance any flat horse being better than Sea The Stars.

Every Generation has its defining racehorse. Sea The Stars is mine.

To even think of The King losing his Boxing Day crown seems like a betrayal to me.

    I’ve taken the 9/4.

Something to ponded – if Kauto is half the horse he was last year, and his rivals are twice as good, then there’s 9 lengths between them.

    Something to think about.

Odds against on Goldikova, whatever she runs in, is Value, IMHO.

    I’ve taken 6/4 with Hills.

I quote others all the better to express myself, as some French bloke once said.

    From the RP comments

When Midas Touch started tiring through the field, Sarafina got a severe check and almost fell down, might have clipped heels. She lost several lengths there. She was following Behkabad before that, and ended up coming from a long way off.

Workforce was midfield and sneaked through a hole near the rail.

How about that Japanese trainer, he trained El Condor Pasa to go down half a length to Montjeu, and now Nakayama Festa…

I think we can all learn something from that – namely, that Japanese horses in the Arc can prove to be a good each way bet!

Racing Post says the winner is not affected by the enquiry, and the presentation’s been made.

    Fingers crossed, eh?

I’m really chuffed about this – they can’t change the result, surely?

Oh well, as hinted earlier on (whether in this or another post, I can’t remeber) I was on Nakayama Festa e/w…and in a combi f/c.

Just a shame Cape Blanco didn’t do better!

Suffice to say, Flamin’ Glory is one of my ‘potential horse names’.

And now we wait for the Stewards…

For me, it’s all about Workforce vs Cape Blanco…with maybe Nakayama Festa as the surprise package.

Cheltenham 2009, £5 on a Gold Cup Tricast, got me a shade under £600.

Might seem like an obvious question, but is there even a list of entries yet? If so, where?

Sorry if I’m missing the point completely.
