Franks the Derby form and send the doubters home with empty wallets! Explosive turn of foot in the stretch and hung on with all the class and determination of a true champion- while dogged by the Japanese raider.

    Another master ride by Moore!

I quote others all the better to express myself, as some French bloke once said.

    From the RP comments

"Owned by a Prince, Managed by a Lord, Trained by a Knight, Ridden by a Great."

    BlueSky @pghenn.bsky.social

So don't run, just like the others always do

Racing Review did stick by this horse since June so I can’t give you any credit TAPK but well done on your winning bet.

    From BHA Handicapping blog:

Stop-press from France! Head of Handicapping Phil Smith has made it back across the channel after a weekend of top-quality fare at Longchamp, and reveals that Arc hero Workforce will return to the BHA rating of 128 he obtained after the Derby.

Following a below-par run in the King George, Workforce’s mark was lowered to 126 but in edging out gallant Japanese raider Nakayama Festa in the Longchamp showpiece, Phil and the rest of the international handicapping bigwigs reckon Sir Michael Stoute’s latest superstar is back to his very best.

The decision to drop Workforce’s rating for no good reason – in terms of its timing at least – was rightly questioned in Phil Smith’s Q&A on here. At least he has had the decency to do the right thing now.

Elsewhere in the BHA Handicapping blog, Matthew Tester reveals that Frankel is 123 and Dream Ahead 128, though the latter contradicts the 117 that is still being disaplyed in the BHA’s own rating file.

Oh, and Dominic Gardiner-Hill goes through the whole yardstick handicapping process relating to Cityscape before plumping for a rating that has NO horse running to its previous form. What was the point of that again?…

Back to his very best? No, in the view of the BHA mob, the Arc win was Workforce’s best ever performance. The Derby performance is now back to being a 128 rated win again, is it? When was Phil granted International approval to return Workforce to 128? The randomness within the system – both at the top and bottom ends of the scale – is ridiculous.

Maybe "Phil" can explain on his blog the handicapping of

    Grand Stitch

    .

Hell it’s only 12 less than Sea the Stars ended his career on and the fact he beat the only real yardstick in the race, Fand G, further than the great horse did seems to have gone right over the top of their heads.

As I said in another post I’d hate their job it’s impossible to please everyone.

If "impossibility to please everyone" were a job specification I think you might be considered to be overqualified, Fist! :D

(Sea The Stars was rated 136 by the BHA/World Rankings, not 140)

I’d love their job. But give me some of those low-grade races at Wolverhampton to start with rather than bothering with STS. At the end of the day, the test with the handicappers and system is more about Wolverhampton races than a wfa G1. Anything rated above around 115 is not going to matter provided the horse is worthy of that.

Workforce had only four races this year and he won two of them.Incidentally three of his races resulted in his taking quite a beating. Hope he has not figured it out like Sariska has!Hard to believe a horse from Japan could come over and run him to a head.(They are getting closer all the time, like in the Melbourne Cup.) Makes the Derby look rather ordinary.I fear the real world,Japan, Australia,Hong Kong,USA is a blurred vision.Hopefully we will clarify at the BC.

What world do you live in? Having spent some time in Japan, the quality of the racing, the courses, the bloodstock – not to mention the enormous fan base (favourite horses have magazines launched for them!) – are all absolutely on a par with anything in Europe or America.

If they really cared to come over more often for our piffling (in their terms!) prize money, they could sweep the pool. Remember Deep Impact, El Condor Pasa – both of whom should have won the Arc – and Agnes World? Their horses, trainers and jockeys are absolutely on a level with anything here, make no mistake about it.

(And Nakayama Festa wouldn’t be in their current first eleven!)

So Pinza how should we rate our 3yos against the foreign horses? Is Workforce really 134 or whatever and how many foreign 3yos are his equal?
I guess I live in the "world" where Workforce was rated a Worldbeater after the Derby and where the Racing Forum fans live.Small world isn’t it!
    Have a Vodka on me.
