I agree with you on Columbian.

I’ll listen to the RSPCA’s opinion when they stop putting down thousands of perfectly healthy animals year after year.
But aside from that, i do think the jockeys have to take some of the stick here. I’m tired of hearing that the fences make the horses go faster, they don’t the jockeys are the only people with any control over the speed.
Claire balding was doing crafts coverage on more4 so getting her shouldn’t be too tricky.
I think c4 do, for the most part, cover racing infinitely better than the BBc
Retire. This ‘bored ina field’ lark does my head in. Yes, he’s a racehorse, he’s had the most military of routines since he was 18 months old. You can’t take him strait out of that and whack him ina field 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Keep him ina routine, but doing other stuff, working over some show jumping fences and learning some dressage tests. Just because he’s retired from racing doesn’t mean he can’t be kept ticking over.
I’d say retire, and treated like a king in the mean time!
Oh I’m so sorry, i was really hoping when i saw the title of this thread i’d jumped to conclusions and he was fine, alas not.
Very sad. RIP Tourist
Long time no post!
I personally have no issue with dress codes for big days, gives the day a sense of occasion. Granted, I’d be more willing for the flat season, where it tends to be slightly warmer! Though if people object, vote with your feet and don’t go racing where there are dress codes in place?
RE the point someone made about how it’s just another expense, i have never understood people who eat on course? I’m sure you won’t starve or collapse if you don’t eat overpriced food on course, and i’ve never been to a course where if i haven’t asked nicely i haven’t been given free tapwater, ascot 4 days ago included! Never had an alcoholic beverage on course! Don’t see the need.
maybe the lack of a cold snap has left trainers with more races than they were expecting. If they start to assume they’ll lose a month they might not train as much fr that period then suddenly they havne’t lost a month and have lots of 3/4 fit horses.
To Plasticpaddy.Riding your own horse is hardly nepotism is it?Is driving your own car another example of nepotism? How about riding your bike?To all I answer No No No.
Think you will find the horse is owned by RWC but I take your point and it is really semantics. SWC in trouble again at Taunton today, wonder if he will get another amateur ban for an ‘offence’ commited in a pro race? These amateur race days must be getting a bit tight to Gold Cup Day!?! Wonder if there could be a rule change on the way? Must stop being so cynical.
I really hope he got a ban for the way he rode at Taunton. Hideous bit of riding. As much as it’s RWC horse to decide what to do with, I think it would be very interesting to see him with a proper jockey up. That said if it was SWC that let Kauto get his head in front on Boxing Day, then keep him up. Best days racing of my life.
I think it’s probably prospect well’s race. It’s NEVER been a strong g1
I love the jumps season! I find the flat drags far more, and can’t stand it for the most part.

December 29, 2011 at 01:35 in reply to: Sprinter Sacre will be one of the all time greats!!! #384707I was at Kempton for both days, found my self making some sort of exclamation at every jump, he is SO good.
He is one of the best jumpers i’ve ever seen, so quick over a fence and away from them. He got in VERY close to a few at Kempton, but you woudn’t know from the way he landed.
One to get very, very excited about indeed.
thanks everyone!
