Also, stunning from Enable. Hopefully she stays in training as a four year old.

Brametot got slaughtered by Order of St George. He made up late ground after having to stop and go again, but I think he would have finished in the places with a better ride/passage.

I’m hoping they keep him in training because he got the trip well and would love to see him go again next year. I’m also hopeful they take him to Champions Day, because if he runs then he wins in my opinion. I’ve took 17.5 on the Exchange.

Interesting comments regarding commentators. I would agree with Holt being the best around right now, but I’ve always loved listening to Stewart Machin.

Getting a little irritated by some of Francesca’s statements; the latest being that Shalaa retired to stud after his 2 year-old season. Cannot remember them all though another was Permian being Derby favourite after his Dante win… call me picky.

Did you catch her incessant fawning over Enable last week? Kept interrupting anyone saying anything other than how Enable is a sure-thing.

Thought I read somewhere that the winner cost something like 2.6m as a foal?

You’re not thinking of Declarationofpeace, are you?

    in your opinion he is….

I meant 4.50 (7/2), but yes, in my opinion.

Huge amount of money for Beckford- now trading as favourite.

Pushed Unfortunately out to 7.4 on the exchange, so I had to go back in. That’s far too big. He’s a 3.50 shot.

Betty F took an absolute clattering there. Fair play to Clemmie.

Balding has had 8 winners from 78 runs with 2yos since 1st April this year. That’s not a great strike rate, in my opinion, so I wouldn’t be particularly bullish on his placing of Crossing The Line.

EDIT: Racing UK just announced that AOB has had travel issues getting to Newmarket this morning, hopes to be there at least an hour before the first race.

I managed to get Unfortunately at 6.00 on the exchanges last night when bookies were around 5.50. His price on the exchanges has held, although a bit of 6.40 did just appear then disappear, so it’s perhaps no great surprise bookies have pushed him out a little. I can see Sands of Mali and Sioux Nation shortening closer to post, so if Unfortunately goes out even further I’ll probably go back in.

So, Hannon clearly sees him as a miler but they don’t want to, or have been told not to, get in Ribchester’s way. I can understand why, but it’s seriously frustrating as a viewer.

    Definitely Unfortunately, for me.

I’d be interested to get the forum’s thoughts on his Papin win. For me, it’s the strongest juvenile form around. My reasoning being: he beat Group 3 winner Tantheem; Group 3 winner and Group 2 second Nyaleti; Group 3 winner Zonza; Group 3 winner Different League; Group 3 winner and Group 2 second Havana Grey. Is there a 2yo race that’s as ‘stacked’ as that? And he absolutely thrashed them. He’s actually the joint highest-rated 2yo around, along with Expert Eye and Verbal Dexterity. I’m not sure he’s getting the attention he deserves.

    Betty F, for me.

She won her maiden on the July course. Interestingly, only one juvenile this season has posted quicker closing sectionals on the course this season, and that was Glorious Journey who has since bolted up in a Group 3. The only horses to run the finish quicker than him, in any grade, were those running in the July Cup. When you consider that Brando ran the final 3 furlongs in 33.1 seconds, the fastest in the Timeform archive, and Betty F has ran them in 34.05, ‘only’ six lengths slower. She did so despite looking a little raw and not given an overly hard time of it by Mosse – I think that’s a special bit of form.

Unfortunately should be clear favourite, in my opinion. My only slight concern with him is the stiffer 6 furlongs than he thrived on in France, but he will love the ground (assuming it’s anywhere between good and good to soft), he’s already a very impressive G1 winner and this has been his plan for a while.

Think I might have to take a short break from looking at the Arc and come back to it Saturday. I keep getting drawn to Plumatic
