How far would he win a King George?
2 lengths, ahead of Enable and Sea of Class.
I get so nervous before Altior runs, even though I don’t back him. Hopefully he wins here!
In my opinion, the only reason they’ve sent Samcro down the Champion Hurdle route is because they have massively under-estimated how good Buveur D’air is. The vides from Ireland – and by that I mean what David Jennings was saying on the RP podcast – is that they believe Samcro to be at least a stone better than Mick Jazz, who got within 3.5 lengths of BD in the CH. I suspect they’ve taken BD’s 2nd CH win too literally, when it turns out he was possibly sick at the time and not at his best. They probably thought they had the beating of BD based on that, which otherwise looks a weak division.
Good, informative post, Titus Oates

Can’t see Samcro running in this, pitching against BD so early. If they are that desperate to keep him and Apple’s Jade apart, she will come over and she will probably win.
I think there’s a potential danger remaining at Seven Barrows but Lalor would be my Arkle pick now.
Did you have anyone in mind?
She seems to learn something from every race. Despite that bad mistake at Haydock on Black Corton, she continued trying to make the pace but when DR came upsides early in the straight on the first circuit, BC made a mistake. From then on she sat just off DR pretty much as she did yesterday. No way of knowing if Haydock was in her mind, but it’ll be interesting to see how often over the coming weeks she tries sitting just off the leader.
Interesting point. I felt her ride cost BC at Wetherby, and that Danny Cook’s aggression won him the race and that he would have won had he been on Black Corton. She’s done a similar thing in this race and this time it has paid off.
Cross Counter 25/1 ante-post this year, Rekindling 54/1 ante-post last year. I don’t think I’ll get another winner in this race for as long as I live!
Awful news about Cliffs of Moher.
Frankel is widely regarded as the greatest racehorse in recent history, isn’t he?
One especially passionate Aussie lady called Carol, she says that Winx would have beaten Frankel ten lengths. After telling her over and over again, showing her ratings for two days… Explaining to her that Winx has only beaten, not a lot really… All she had left is sectional times. Carol likes to swear a lot, and her comprehension of the English language is, well, it’s not great let’s say.
Frankel’s sectional times were mind-blowing, if she wants to go that route.
Maria’s Benefit is going to be suited by chasing with her aggressive, front-running style. She was a solid 150+ horse over hurdles and if she improves over fences she would have a shout. I also like the shout for Defi Du Seuil, who Hobbs wanted to send chasing last season. Apparently Geraghty always thought he was going to be a chaser too, and he was a high-class Triumph winner so I’m excited to see how he does.
I thought Theo ran an interesting race. He appeared to be going very well but when he was asked for pressure there was nothing there. He looked a bit of a non-stayer to me.
That was not a canter. Hugh drew and used the whip. Montjeu’s King George was a “canter”.
In private, I bet you JonnyG would tell you he wishes he had his time again with Cracksman.
I agree with this 100%. Not saying that he did anything massively wrong with Cracksman, but with the benefit of hindsight he could have won a few more G1s than he actually did. He was the best horse in the Irish Derby but was given a poor ride, and then he won the Voltigeur setting better closing sectionals than Ulysses did in in the International. I firmly believe he would have won that International doing handstands, and had he won there he probably would have booted on to Leopardstown and won that too. Although, had he won those three in a row there would have always been the temptation to just retire him then and we wouldn’t have seen him at all this season.
So you did!
Cross Counter is 19 so will get in. I’m sure I saw Emotionless is injured again and might will this, he’s number 21.
Thanks for clarifying, Botchy. Is the order on the Racing Post website the correct entry order?

Cross Counter 82nd on the list. If Withhold at 58 isn’t likely to get in, Cross Counter at 82 has got no chance.
