That is really sad, I remember seeing her win the Cheltenham bumper. As her form deteriorated after that, I was surprised she hadn’t been retired for breeding
One of the all-time great performances, but not one of the all-time greats
Hungry Hur; "hungry whore" is a less affectionate insult, implies a greedy, miserly SOB
The Kew Tour; "cute whore" is an affectionate insult in Ireland
If BB was mine,I’d insist he go back over fences. That the trainer has other GC contenders shouldn’t enter into it. Lets face it, 3-mile hurdling is the lowest grade of NH racing.
Its always wonderful to see such sheer class; CC never seemed to be under any stress. Having said that, RVW is obviously improving, so if they meet again, I’d be unceratin at the outcome. But since he stays, RVW probably has bigger fish to fry at 10 and 12 furlongs
Derring Rose; I think I remember him winning the 3-mile hurdle at C’Ham by 30 lengths, having arrive upsides only at the final hurdle. He would often try to pull himself up, but if the jockey could coax him along, anything could happen.
Anyone remember Marinsky? He was a hugely talented 3-yr-old with Vincent O’Brien in the 70s, with a predilection for savaging other horses. I think he tried to bite Gentilhombre in the July Cup and then had to be raced in a muzzle.
The Carvill’s Hill gold cup was the only time I’ve ever seen a so horse specifically ridden to ruin another horses chance. It was quite unfair, and I was glad that Toby Tobias was well beaten
superb performance, but we have to see a bit more to compare him with STS
Just watched WA’s win again; jumped the last like a deer and scampered up the hill, still looked full of energy. Why is it always the good ones?
lighten up bellfee; you have received a very elegant apology
I’ve just heard that Weapons Amnesty is out for next year. That’s a real shame, as he looked a terrific prospect. Do they ever come back?
Ridiculous; 3 mile hurdlers only run at 3 miles because (1) they can’t jump fences, and (2) they are too slow for 2 mile hurdles.
It falls last in prestige behind 3 mile chases,2 mile hurdles and then 2 mile chases, and especially this year was the least competitive division.I hadn’t realised that Flyingbolt won the Irish Grand National, over 3 miles six furlongs in those days, just a few weeks after winning the 2 mile Champion Chase by a distance and, the next day, running third in a Champion hurdle. Which BTW, looked like he would have won if Pat Taaffe had gone for home earlier.
Incredible.very impressive, looked very classy, looking forward to see how the from compares with the older generation. Very confident ride
I remember a picture of Pendil jumping a fence, with Richard Pitman on board. He was taking of from outside the wings, and it absolutely captured his sheer athleticism
