Over their preferred distances?
i.e the 3 best 1m, 3 best 1m2f and 3 best 1m4f horses.
I ask because I’ve heard a few horses over the last year accused of not being group 1, but I can’t think of any better. So I would be interested to see what people say.
Cheers guys, should be interesting.

Any country, surface, whatever you think would be the top 3 overall.

1m Goldicova, Canford Cliffs, Makfi
1m2f Cape Blanco, Rip Van Winkle

Value Is EverythingSeptember 7, 2010 at 12:15 #316296Sprints – Majesticperfection, Starspangledbanner, Green Birdie/Rocket Man

Stayers – Rite of Passage, Jaguar Mail,
September 7, 2010 at 12:41 #316298There seems to be an awful lot of good horses in the mile division at the moment
1) Goldikova 2) Canford Cliffs 3) Makfi in my opinionNot too sure in the other divisions due to imo a lack of quality overall. I would include Cape Blanco, Fame and Glory, and Workforce (yes I havent given up on him)
September 7, 2010 at 12:49 #3163005/6f: Starspangledbanner, Equiano, Fleeting Spirit
1m: Makfi, Canford Cliffs, Goldikova
1m2f: Cape Blanco, Rip Van Winkle, Midday
1m4f: Fame And Glory, Sariska, Behkabad
1m6f+: Rite Of Passage, Profound Beauty, Rewilding
September 7, 2010 at 12:56 #316301you should only include mile and a half horses in this list. If Canford Cliffs stayed he wouldn’t be running as a miler. 12 furlongs is the real classic distance.
September 7, 2010 at 16:24 #3163261m Canford Cliffs, Goldikova, Makfi
10f Zenyatta, Cape Blanco, Rip Van Winkle.
12f Workforce (

September 8, 2010 at 09:04 #316404Everyne is entitled to their opinion, and i always respect a bit of left-field thinking – but although i know you are a big fan of the horse, you can’t seriously think Profound Beauty is the best mile and a half horse in the World?
Mine are European only, i have little knowledge of US or other foreign racing.
NOT in order –
Sprinters – Equiano, Starspangledbanner, Sole Power (must be respected, will go off overpriced next time a-la Les Arcs a few years ago).
Milers – Makfi, Goldikova, Canford Cliffs.Gets tricky now –
10f – Cape Blanco, Rip Van Winkle, Tartan Bearer.
12f – Tartan Bearer, Cape Blanco, Byword (guesswork admittedly).
Stayers – thought this years older stayers were poor so i’ll see how the 3yo’s get on.September 8, 2010 at 09:37 #316409I’m basing my opinion on this year’s formlines through Age Of Aquarius linking Harbinger and Profound Beauty.
She is probably going dependant and 12 furlngs is the very least she needs to be fully effective but I’d advise any sceptics to compare the way a fit Harbinger beat a first time out AOA at Chester and then the way the first time out Profound Beauty beat the fitter AOA at Leopardstown ….watch replays of both races….then factor in the subsequent Ascot runs of Harbinger an Age Of Aquarius
BTW She’s the wife’s favourite racehorse, not necessarily mine infact if the going gets much softer I’m not convinced she’ll beat Rite Of Passage on Saturday

I would probably have said the top 3 on Offcial Ratings in each division, you couldn’t argue with that.

If it was that easy we’d all be driving Aston Martins and Barry Dennis, Paddy Power et al would be signing on the dole

I thought the question was who are the best 3 horses in training?
Can someone confirm this is the question, not sure where i’ve gone wrong?
