it’s far too early to say, and we saw the perfect example of this last Sunday. Based on his performances lasy year I thought Hurricane Fly was almost unbeatable, but once upped in class, he was found wanting.
Gret to see Well Chief winning again, a tribute to his connections, to I don’t think he is within a stone of his great contests with AZ and MF. The proximity of the 2nd and 4th put the value of the form in some doubt however
Jockey must take the main blame, but Wetherby need to do something about the turn
nasty commnet, Gerard, that last post should have been edited
A brilliant spectacle; jumping from fence to fence, bounding away from his fences so quickly. It’s great to be over the jumps again
Very impressive, though I’m unsure about the quality of the field. I thought he looked a bit green as he raced clear, so there may be even better ahead
Derring Rose, I remember a race at Cheltenham, might even have been the 3-mile hurdle, trying to pull himself up at halfway, then looming up to join them at the last, and racing up the hill faster than any horse I’ve ever seen, put 30 lengths into them from the last hurdle. I think Fred Winter trained him. I wonder what happened to him?
I thought Sizing was the real deal, and a chaser in the making, until 2 flights from home at the 2008 CH. I’ve lost faith in him since, he doesn’t seem to finish his races. I just caught the end of tdays race; he certainly looked impressive, but the jury is out as to whether he is the horse I thought he was
to maintain top form, from may to october, to be champion an 3 distances, and never to shirk a battle; I loved D Brave, but STS is the best ever
Thanks for that Imperial Call; I was there that day, great to see it again. Going was quite soft that day, wouldn’t have suited Buck House, Dawn Run was so brilliant she went in any ground
Still gutted the owner was so greedy, Dawn Run should have won the next 4 Gold Cupsbrilliant compilation, Arazi, thanksa million. I’d forgotten the great weight-carrying performances by Well Chief and AZ, which proved how good these 3 were. AZ also beat Seebald, I think in an early season race, giving him lumps of weight,; around the same time Seebald ran Best Mate to a head at level weights.
I don’t think we’ll ever see 3 such great horse at the same time againwell done AP, you deserve your good fortune, hope the old boy has a happy retiremnet
magnificent; Aidan O’Brien really out it up to him in a true run race, MCM and F&G got first run on him. One of the greatest ever, no doubts
great memories; also Brown Lad, who had been novice chasing, winning the 3-mil hurdle in an absolute canter
I recall Captain Christy started favourite but was pulled up in that Gold Cup. He was frighteningly brilliant on his day, one of the best ever, but maddeningly inconsistent
no, Bobsline and Noddys Ryde was epic, but Ten Up and Glanford Brigg was alos a stirring contest
thanks for the correction; I was thinking of Noddys Ryde.
Did Glanford Brigg get injured, or lose his form?- AuthorPosts
