1986 Carv. Remember it well even though I was only a garsún at the time. Her last run before the ill-fated trip to France.
September 29, 2009 at 08:54 #250766Buck House died of the colic when let down that same year. Neither lived to tell the tale.
October 1, 2009 at 15:23 #251055Anyone remember the 3 runner 1985 Prince Of Wales Stakes … when Bob Back sprung a 33-1 shock by beating Pebbles and Commanche Run?
I thought Zacinto was gonna pull off a similar shock in the QE2

Why a shock, horse can’t win on known form top class trainer leaves him in? Group 1’s are QUALITY no dodgy results in these/this race
October 1, 2009 at 18:31 #251097Rip beat Zacinto much the same way STS beat Rip.Just as STS surged when Rip got beside him so Rip surged when Zacinto got to him. Both Rip and Zacinto seem to be improving.Sunday will tell us about STS.Also a mile and a half in a well run race will be the first challenge to him over this distance and the Derby doubts still remain. Will F&G do better than he did in the Derby when the race is truly run?
October 1, 2009 at 22:44 #251156News King (i think – I was a nipper at the time) winning the Tingle Creek in the early 80’s. 3 runners – close finish!
October 2, 2009 at 03:52 #251207Dawn Run v Buck House – ah memories!

October 2, 2009 at 04:18 #251212Thanks for that Imperial Call; I was there that day, great to see it again. Going was quite soft that day, wouldn’t have suited Buck House, Dawn Run was so brilliant she went in any ground
Still gutted the owner was so greedy, Dawn Run should have won the next 4 Gold CupsOctober 2, 2009 at 15:45 #251262Have never seen that before [or her Champion Hurdle win];it was so sad to hear what the trainer said about going to France; not a good idea. What speed she had and what character, but she seemed to have no respect for fences of any kind; the way she ploughed through them or kicked them out of the way and then accelerated away from them afterwards was incredible.
