watched atr for over half an hour for news but they said nothing
any news?
August 20, 2010 at 05:45 #313719It was a horrific fall, one of the worst I’ve seen, not totally unlike Thenameescapesme’s that broke his back earlier this week, sadly Hairy Molly is no more.
August 20, 2010 at 17:42 #313861That is really sad, I remember seeing her win the Cheltenham bumper. As her form deteriorated after that, I was surprised she hadn’t been retired for breeding

That’s because she was a gelding.
August 21, 2010 at 20:13 #314091Did the owners know before they named her/him?
August 21, 2010 at 21:03 #314099Very much so – I believe "molly" is a slang term.
August 21, 2010 at 21:58 #314108That bloke in Charley Varrick was called Molly, don’t know whether he was hairy though.
August 22, 2010 at 09:44 #314158A horse that stayed in the memory, partly because of the name/gender issues, but I seem to remember McCoy tipping the horse before Cheltenham [did he ride him in the bumper?]. I thought at the time someone said that a Hairy Molly is a caterpillar, but perhaps they were joking or my memory has gone walkabout again. Either way, a sad end.
August 22, 2010 at 10:13 #314170Paul Carberry rode him Moe.
You’re correct about the name. Maith an cailín!
