Does anyone know where you can watch all these races live online? I managed last year but can’t remember for the life of me where i found it!

First Cape Cross x Carry On Katie offspring is a colt that’s been named Charles Dickens. Now two-years-old and while there’s no word as to who will be training him this year all signs point to Godolphin.

He is in training with Mark Johnston i think

He’s an amazing guy. I had the chance to meet him on Derby Day a few years back and was actually so overwhelmed i couldn’t speak! Was only 16 at the time and it made my year! Got his autograph too :D

Just been reading this thread from the start in absolute amazement
It seems that some of the more ignorant of you read one bit of some ghosted autobiography they start babbling it out as some kind of truism to anyone within earshot
I don’t want to have to read through piles of ignorant tripe to get to the good stuff every time I log on.

Presuming that you’re talking about mine and clivex’s reference to Mark Johnston’s autobiography, then i’m equally amazed that you could presume i am ignorant. I was simply providing my thoughts on the subject and backing up those thoughts. I thought a helpful piece of information would be appreciated, obviously i was wrong.

I think part of the problem is that watching a race can be very deceptive. It looks for the world like horses are quickening past one another.

This is what i thought. That’s it not a case of horses quickening past each other but rather a case of one horse staying on far better than the other. Come to think of it i’m almost certain i read this in Mark Johnston’s biography.

I was under the impression that horses don’t quicken at the end of races, they slow down, can’t remember where i read that though. :?

Racing Post for me too, without a doubt! :D

I find "Pedigree Query" quite useful and interesting, use it quite often.

Also quite like the Breeder’s Cup website, very useful for checking the registered names of foals that you can’t find anywhere else (or no-where else that i’ve found yet!). This feature used to be on the NTRA website but they have moved it recently.

I actually think he’s a better jockey than most people give him credit for. He’s still only young and bound to make mistakes like everyone else. Being champion apprentice last year means he rode more winners than the likes of William Buick, who most people seem to hold in higher regard, and who probably had better rides overall.

I’m talking about Joe Public here, Hopper, and I’m assuming the news media want some sort of Black Beauty sentimentality to attach to the story before they’ll run with it

I’d agree here. The race will be hard to promote as there’s not an obvious story behind these two horses. It’s great for us racing fans, with two extremely talented horses from the same stable up against each other, but it hasn’t got that extra something that the general non-racing public could relate too that makes it really special like a rags to riches story or something along those lines

Maybe the BBC could do some sort of programme on the clash, like they have done before about the Grand National and the Derby. This race is definatly an ideal opportunity to get new people into the sport.

This Valentines Day i was working milking cows, got covered in dung and teat dip and smelt like a dairy farm….sexy!

…not as offputting as you might think…in fact, to some middle agers it might be quite a turn on…..I’m sorry if that alarms you a little.

Even more reason to avoid farms if possible! It’s certainly not my idea of a great valentines day.

Think i would have to agree with UM and say Alan King for first choice.

As for second choice, i’d probably say Peter Bowen. He comes across as a really down to earth guy and i have to support my fellow Welshies of course.

Only one thong though unfortunatly

Does anyone use Facebook  – it’s addictive – beware! :D

It’s scarily addictive, it’s been responsible for a fair number of bad exam marks!

For me it has to be Desert Orchid’s Gold Cup, just amazing and everytime i watch it i feel the same way i did when i first saw it.

Some others include Moscow Flyer’s second Queen Mother win, Best Mate’s third Gold Cup, Amberleigh House and Numbersixvalverde winning their Grand Nationals (lost my voice on both occasions!), Authorized’s Derby win seeing that i was there at the time and am a HUGE Frankie fan!
Giants Causeway and Kalanisi fighting it out in the Juddmonte, Secretariat’s Belmont, and last but not least Bandari’s win in the Lingfield derby trial…the race that got me hooked in the first place and probably the reason i’m where i am now.
