I’m a huge Radiohead fan but I agree with Fist and think he might find it a bit frantic against this lot
I’m going tomorrow and have gone for Tax Free at 25 on BF. 5f is surely his best distance, has ran well this season with the win in France probably being his best to date. Local yard is in good enough form and he clearly doesn’t get on with Ascot so that can be ignored as far as im concernedThis is a very strong race i think with so many likely winners so I’m a layer of Goldikova at the current prices. I really like the look of Reggane who I thought ran well behind Ghanaati in the Coronation and as good as Goldikova was last year she hasn’t been as good this year and didn’t beat a lot at Newmarket so definately think the favourite can be beaten today.
A really tough race to get right this one. Not such a strong race really.
Schiapparelli looked like a good galloper last time he ran and I can see why he’s fav against this lot.
I watched Mourilyan in Dubai and though he was impressive when second to Veracity. But not so sure how he’s going to fare tomorrow. Centennial is a nice horse and looked good at the start of the season but has been very disappointing since so I am pretty stuck with this.
If i do have a punt I think I’d rather go for Mourilyan than anything else at the current 8/1 for a bit of an each way steal at leastWith Paco’s ability to see out the softer stiffer trip in the Lockinge not long back puts me off, and added to the 11 lbs he must give to Ghanaati and even 8 to Rip Van Winkle he is most definately too short. He ran a good race at Ascot but the form looks pretty poor; Cesare flopping next time out with no excuses and Main Aim getting a place over an unsuited distance.
PB has everything to overcome IMO but if Ghanaati doesn’t win he’d be the one I’d like to see beat her.Yes but tomorrows race is over a mile and given that he took a while to get into top gear at Epsom and never got going in the Guinneas I don’t think he is worthy of favouritism. Who knows if Rip’s going to handle the ground anyway?
Lahaleeb and Beacon Lodge show good form on easier ground and offer much better value IMO. Why is Virtual not running in this race? After watching Paco Boy win at Sandown earlier in the year I thought he really suited this race and would have backed him AP if i could have, but that was back in April!
I think he’s conceding too much weight to Ghanaati and the difference in prices doesnt justify this huge advantage for the younger horses.
Having said that who knows how Ghanaati will do on a different going, however her breeding suggests the softer ground should be no problem out of Giants Causeway. Beacon Lodge appeals but again is too high in the weights. Not sure about RVWs mile credentials either.
And going off less weight than she did at Ascot who knows what time Ghanaati is going to run if the rain stays away tomorrow.
Ghanaati to win, Lahaleeb for the place cover (if it does rain)
Aqlaam has a big chance here if he runs upto a similar standard to his Queen Anne performance.
Also, I think Dream Eater is too high on the exchanges at the moment and has good place claims and could well follow Aqlaam homeWell the draw’s not done this race any good at all. Paco Boy, Scenic Blast, Prime Defender, Art Connoisseur and JJ the Jet Plane have been drawn 1-5 respectively. I’d argue all day long that the only horse apart from those 5 with a genuine chance is African Rose from Stall 11.
I really do think Prime Defender is going to win this.
Frankly I’d feel I didn’t have value if i got 85/1 on PD getting in the first three
Campanologist must have a chance if he gets his way at the front. Put up a creditable performance at Royal Ascot and Godolphin seem to be doing okay at the minute. Ive backed him at 5-1 with Ladbrokes and can’t see him finishing out of the first three. I do like Duncan but 5-2 is a little short imo hopefully Frankie will run a blinder!
Based purely on value I’m gonna opt for Archipenko EW currently 25 on BF
2.5 lengths behind Presvis lto is good enough form to warrant a lower price and 10f being his best distance is more likely to run a good race than some of the others who aren’t proven winners over 10Disappointing but covered myself with Radiohead for a place, think MC would have won that well, fair play to RH though he also got a barge!
Totally agree, think this is all nonsense about the American horse.
If you look at the prices Strike The Tiger and Jealous Again went off at in their races before Ascot they were both well backed; 6/5F, 21/10F and 6/4F respectively.
Yagaroo went off Fav in his first race when beaten and then 4/1 when he did when after being stepped up.
Don’t think Yagaroo is as well thought of as their two winners this week, but then again why bring him over?
Monsieur Chavalier with Radiohead taking a place as long as he doesnt make a mess of the start like he did at NewmarketIf Delegator missed the Irish Guinneas would he be 4/1 or 9/2??
Surely not, cross a line through it and take the obvious value about a good horseWOW
The 5/4 on BF was very generous indeed. You don’t see many horses win G1s by six and then go off at that sort of number. What a filly. Should be a challenger for the Arc this yearWatching Casual Conquest closely at Newmarket on 2000 Guinneas day, he hits the ground very hard and I think if the ground is soft/heavy then it will favour a horse that clips off the turf so CC is an unlikely winner for me
I don’t see a reason why BM would not run Radiohead in the Coventry and instead have a crack at the July Cup. Just don’t see it. He obviously thinks alot of him and his perfromances have justified this IMO. His sire, Johannesburg loved the fast ground and so I can really see him doing very well this season.
Personally, I really like the look of
Radiohead
, a very nice type. Someone said on here before his maiden that he was one of Meehan’s most promising colts. His sire was very useful over the distance and ran a decent time on Monday (63 secs) basically on a canter.
In his maiden he ran very green and gave the leaders around 10 lengths to finish second aswell. Hopefully he’ll be aimed at the race and run a blinder
