Have a feeling the Dante will clear the picture up greatly but whether it will solve Coolmore’s ultimate dilemma over whether they go ahead and roll the dice and risk running Churchill (or go mob handed with lesser talented colts) I am not too sure – for me it would be a mistake to run him as the only way he stays 12F is if they drive him the first 4F in the horsebox and then let him out to run the last mile.

Added Cliffs of Moher @ 16’s to win

    That makes 3 now with

    SJL E/W @ 50’s. Win @ 33’s,28.0 25’s, 20’s & 16’s
    Cracksman E/W @ 33’s, 25’s & 20’s

Hopefully on the day of the race i’m not looking about for something to get my money back on. :good:

Laid off all Cracksman bets now between 8.0 – 9.0 for a free bet and a very good win if he wins. Just got my doubts now with him.
Laid off COM @ 7.4 for free bet

SJL has been substituted by Crystal Ocean @ 33’s 32.0 and 25’s

Dante should have a big say in things, as well as Churchill’s plans and also possibly OOTG could enter the picture if running well on Sunday

Think it will be a mistake to underestimate best solution. As people have said anyway, the race looks terrible in terms of quality, and he looks one of the more solid ones.

Had it been the Lavery that put up Best Solution’s winning performance today, I think he would have been taken seriously. That Glencadam Glory doesn’t like leaving the stalls does he

It’s right, as said above, that Best Solution shouldn’t be underestimated. After all, this horse accounted for a decent field when winning the Autumn Stakes before finishing second in a Group 1 last year; all you had to do was forgive his runs in Meydan when we all know the form shouldn’t be trusted one inch and you could easily see this is a top class colt.

Hopefully (for God’s sake hopefully) this week’s results have pushed Coolmore & Co more towards the running Churchill – he’d win alright that’s for sure.

Time seems to be running out and hopefully Best of Days can get to the Goodwood Trial. Thrown a hopeful fiver on him at 120.0 to win. Group 2 winner over a mile and should be better over further.

In danger of being known as Sir John Lavatory now. On that head-on toward the end, his rear-end action looked all over the place. Maybe he didn’t act at all there and he might pop up somewhere at a price.

I’m sure something will turn up Joe, hopefully he becomes known as Sir John Lazarus. I can feel a Cliff horse brewing

Swiss storm being aimed at the Dante strikes me as being a bit odd as I reckon he won’t get home… most of his relatives were sprinters

Just read that W Carson believes the Lingfield trial isn’t worth the risk because many horses, having run down the hill there, do not fancy running down a hill again.

Very bizarre logic. I would presume if a horse didn’t enjoy running down hill then that would become apparent the first time they encountered a downward slope, so whether they’d run down hill before or not would seem irrelevant to me.

The Lingfield trials are struggling as it is to attract decent runner without the retired multi-millionare carson putting the boot in.

Agree with crystal ocean being a strong bet for Dante and Derby… also think Wolf Country has been underestimated in the odds for the york race. Godolphin have started the flat season very well and would be interesting if they run him here as he already ran over 1 mile 4 so dropping him in trip seems an intriguing move.

I guess a lot depends on how vulnerable or not the Cracksman form is. Clearly he’d be no certainty to confirm the form either with Permian if that horse lines up.

Just handtimed the last two furlongs of cracksman’s last run and he ran the last two furlongs freakishly fast, in about 21 seconds

it says a lot when churchill still in the mix, surely if they run him they wont be allowed to set very moderate pace. frankel didnt run in derby because henry cecil knew he didnt stay.
this years derby looking to be very poor race

You don’t actually know you don’t like doing something until you generally try to do it for the first time, the experience is either something the horse can deal with or not and you will know one way or the other the next time they try it. If you have ever tried to run fast on a downhill section of road or pavement you will know it is a distinctly odd sensation where your weight is tipping your forward and you feel like you are going out of control and your arms start to flail about trying to keep yourself balanced and you generally say to yourself I am not going to do that again if I have to.

Similar to the saying about a horse generally trying its best on firm ground the first time they encounter it until they realise it is uncomfortable to do so and then when you try them again on it they won’t fully stretch out.

I think cliffs of moher is the one for me even though I’m taking him staying on trust. His form with order of the garter shows his class and I’m sure he can improve the pounds necessary to win the derby. All the other trials are much of a muchness.
