Be amazed if Elegant Escape goes for this, sound jumping and staying/one paced qualities make him an ideal NH Chase candidate.
Value Is EverythingMarch 1, 2018 at 11:29 #1344410ALso the Feltham winners have an awful record in the rsa chase but horses who get beat in the Feltham do win the rsa. Might bite last year for example.
EE has been trained with Cheltenham as the season target.
Black Corton was a summer jumper who got beat at Worcester but who has surprised connections by keep improving and is going to end up at Cheltenham but was never trained to peak here.I respect the Irish horses here but none of them scare me and I am very confident EE will beat Black Corton comfortably on the day and will run a very big race.
Maybe I’m completely wrong certainly won’t be the first time but I really believe EE will win this.

They would be crazy to go for the 4miler with a potential future gold cup winner.March 1, 2018 at 11:38 #1344415Vautour

EE going for 4 milerYou are saying that as if it is fact. Can you supply a link that says he is definitely going 4miler or Is this in fact just your opinion.
Tizzard would need to be insane not to run this horse in the rsa.
March 1, 2018 at 11:40 #1344416Yeah aside from what i had said inherd 4 miler, im sure he said if he can get an irish jockey booked ittl be the 4miler
Rsa wasnt totally ruled out though
Not sure i rate him as highly as you do, dont think id ever consider him a gold cup winner.
March 1, 2018 at 11:44 #1344417I know what Tizzard said about the Irish jockey and the 4miler but that is just trash talk. He either has a top jockey or he doesn’t and he doesn’t so it’s a meaningless comment imo from Tizzard.
This horse is just 6yo and is improving all the time. If he wins the RSA which he certainly has a genuine chance of doing and he will go off at single figure odds if he turns up for the rsa which he surely will.
If he does win this race then you will have no choice but to consider him a genuine 2019 gold cup contender.
March 1, 2018 at 11:54 #1344418THis was Tizzards sporting life interview about 7 days ago:
How on earth will they go about replacing a horse like Cue Card?
Well…
“Do you know the most significant fact about this horse?”, bellows the trainer as the next animal takes to the floor.
A faint mumble of Samcro something or other comes back from the gathered anoraks, before Tizzard answers his own question.
“This is Elegant Escape and no horse has got as close to Samcro as this one. It was just a length and a quarter (in a point-to-point) and Samcro was off the bit as well!
“We’ve likened him a little bit to the campaign that Native River had as a novice.
“He’d stay four miles but at the moment we’re definitely leaning more towards the RSA Chase with him. He beat Black Corton at Newbury (December 2) and we were closing on him at the finish at Kempton on Boxing Day. Cheltenham will be perfect for him.”
It may well be perfect, and the manner of Elegant Escape’s easy subsequent Exeter win suggests, like Black Corton, he isn’t done improving yet either.
There are a lot of bright prospects to fill the massive void that will inevitably be some day soon left by Cue Card, but this could be the most dazzling of them all.
In a nutshell
Festival banker – NATIVE RIVER, Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup
Best long-term prospect – ELEGANT ESCAPE, RSA Chase
————————–
The next day he said in a different interview that he may consider the 4miler IF he could get a top amateur Irish jockey.
Only one place this horse is going and that’s the RSA. There should Be no doubt about that.
March 1, 2018 at 12:06 #1344419Not a meaningless comment though is it, hes basicaly telling you if he can get a top irish jock booked the horse goes 4miler
Hes a 33/1 chance for a reason, not saying the horse cant win, but hes not “improved” or “improving” at the rate where he has a favourites chance in this, could he be a future prospect? Of course.
If the field lines up as it is atm (monalee,pp,abp,bc,io) EE wont go off single figure odds, your best hope for that is monalee goes jlt and abp,io also
The horse may very well win this, but he definitely needs a few of the market leaders to goto the jlt to do so, hes well up against it as it stands atm.
March 1, 2018 at 12:21 #1344421I think it Is a throwaway comment.
“We are DEFINITELY leaning towards the RSA”
“We may CONSIDER the 4 miler if we could get a top Irish amateur jockey”.
DEFINITELY against CONSIDER
If we could get a top jockey (which we don’t have).
I’m on the 33/1 with hills nrnb so I get my money back if he did go the 4 mile route.
I will be flabbergasted should they ruin a potential gold cup winners career by running him in the 4mile novice.
This horse is 6yo and improving and can develop into a genuine gold cup contender.
There is no way on this planet you risk ruining a potential gold cup winners career by running him
Over 4miles at 6 years of ageOnly one option you have a crack at the RSA and if he gets stuffed then have a pop at the 4 miler in 2019.
If however he wins the RSA then you have one of the favourites for the 2019 gold cup on your hands.
Impossible that EE would go for the 4 miler no matter what jockey is available.
As for why is he 33/1 for this race, he is 12/1 SKYBET, 14/1 corals for rsa and they are all starting to shorten him up.
Goes off around 6/1 is my Guess on the day as this field cuts up and he is confirmed as an rsa runner.
The 33/1 was just because punters were unsure as to which race he goes for with the majority believing he goes 4 miler helped by Tizzards throwaway comments on that race.
March 1, 2018 at 12:47 #1344424Ruin the horse if he went 4miler? Errr native river?
The field COULD cut up which is the only way he will go off single figures so you have a good angle from that perspective, because its looking likely it will, but the horse NEEDS it to cut up to have anychance of winning imo
March 1, 2018 at 13:04 #1344429Look at Native River just another horse who ran in the 4 miler and didn’t win the gold cup (even though he ran well in it).
Horses who run in the 4 miler don’t win gold cups.Last years gold cup was substandard Sizing John won’t win again, Native River will finish further behind this time.
EE has a cracking chance if every runner stands there ground for this, he has an even better chance if the field does cut up.
EE clearly has the beating of Black Corton and therefor has an outstanding chance in this race as the best uk runner in the race.
I give permission for anybody on here to shoot me if he doesn’t turn up for rsa.
March 1, 2018 at 13:16 #1344432They couldn’t just go for the 4 miler the following season if the RSA didn’t work out this year. The 4 miler is a Novice Chase event.
March 1, 2018 at 13:18 #1344433Thats not my point about native river, my point is the 4miler never ruined the horse, are you saying had native river ran in the rsa instead of the 4miler thenyear before he would have been more likely to win the gold cup last year? Really? Same theory applied to minella rocco, really?
How does EE “clearly” have the beating of BC he only won last time because the weights lol he would be 0/2 against him
March 1, 2018 at 13:19 #1344434EE is a slow boat, he’s not quick enough at the business end of the RSA to win. Hence most wanting him to run in the 4 miler. I can see a reason for him being a 20s shot and not 33s through the BC form but claiming he’s got BC covered doesn’t stack up on all known form and figures, they’re 1 each this season and BC has the better figures and arguably is improving quicker.
Feltham winners have a terrible record in the RSA is instantly blurred as Might Bite was going to hose up but for Daryl Jacob having a shocker.
Hills are not NRNB, they’re money back if he doesn’t run at the festival – you do your dough if he runs in the 4 miler?
After all said and done, I’m getting jittery about Monalee moving to the JLT

March 1, 2018 at 13:28 #1344436Very jittery myself kev, 60% of my stake is antepost, had to save on the jlt nrnb which im not happy about, as im probably 70-30 in my head he will go jlt now
