how about a reverse forecast?..lol… seriously though Bolger’s Via Galilei looks an interesting newcomer.
A small but select field with Mr O’Brien having 50 percent of the field, as is usual in Irish races these days isn’t it?
Too many group 1’s across Europe. They should be the exception and some should be demoted to Group 2 status in my view. Not this one though, it’s worthy. I wouldn’t have thought the Breeders Cup was the reason for the lack of numbers though, maybe the Arc trials next weekend more likely? I’d like to see the Foy/Niel with penalties for Gr. 1 winners.

and I don’t post much in the racing section because I know nowt about UK racing –hi KT,
I hope it’s not raining where you are, it always seems to be so when I check the weather for that region…lol..I’m sorry you feel it can be a bit scarey. I think men enjoy talking [arguing] with other men mostly, don’t you? but if we’ve got something to say we should just feel free to say it and that applies to everyone.
I think I know about 5 or 6 other women on here from time to time. Used to be a lot more. I notice you pop up here and there quite regularly which is good and most welcome, I’m enjoying your contributions, it’s just that a lot of us ladies are infrequent visitors, perhaps for reasons Dave alluded to earlier..lol…as registration is easier now, maybe things will change there.I’d like to see Lydia Hislop post more often too, she understandably creates quite a bit of interest.

yeah, and I think the place could do with some more women who have the time to become regular posters as they can give a different slant to things, perhaps less betting or ratings orientated. I wonder if some women feel a bit intimidated about joining in some discussions.
There used to be quite a few but have largely disappeared. I’d like to see more threads started by women both in the Lounge and Horse Racing on a range of topics but I wonder sometimes if they don’t feel entirely at home here.My class do not know of my passion for racing but I did teach a girl aged 7 last year who’s dad owned a 2 yr old that won at Goodwood. She knew so much about our sport it was amazing. She would bring in clips from the RP to show me. It was in her family and they are lovely people.
my goodness, sounds like me at the same age..lol..that’s good to know, hope the little girl carries on with her interest. Thanks for replying and no worries about the topic, it’s fun on here especially when there’s a fight

Never seen it UM, is it filmed in the midlands?
lol..ooh you’re a cheeky b*gger…Southall actually.
come on Dave, get some refinement in your life…look in next week, it’s a treat!

), I don’t think there’s anything wrong with eccentricity period. What puzzles me is the point of this thread. Is there anything wrong with TRF, that the termination (preferably with extreme prejudice) of the Flat season won’t put right?
I think we both know the answer to that one, don’t we?
Sanity will prevail once Choc does his thing in the late Autumn – he’s dreamy don’t you know.

lol…indeed he is, and lucky are the mares he’ll be riding

Thank you all for your contributions which I’ve enjoyed reading. Sorry if your preferred candidates were not on the list.
I declare Balding/Carson to be the narrow winners over Francome/McGrath.
Who would have thought it judging by the stick they get sometimes..lol.
….but that if you get a nice progressive one (which will hopefully happen at some point before you have to sell the house, the car etc.) it may run up a sequence and recoup some of the losses you have incurred on the slowboats, and you can make money backing it, and you might be able to sell it on. The changes in handicapping and race planning have made it harder to do this especially with certain types of horses with which it used to be relatively common e.g. novice chasers and two-year-olds.
just a minor quibble from me about this point, in that I miss the days of the Provideo’s, Nagwas, Timeless Times and others. We don’t see this sort of thing any more and I think it’s to the detriment of the flat racing season. I think it’s a shame, it was always good fun following these multiple winners.
So there, you’ve destroyed something for me
Angus McNae on RUK , without a tie and jacket even if it ‘ s 90
degrees F.…lol!!…..he even makes me feel hot.
September 7, 2007 at 19:35 in reply to: If the forum going down the toilet what’s you solution? #113911You can get away with quite a lot on here I have found, to it’s advantage and commendation, and always within reason. Other places, people are right uppity and report you at a moments notice…lol. So, just get on with it. Surely it only forms a minor part of anyone’s existence, doesn’t it? It’s what you make it and we’re all just a bunch of anonymities ultimately, no matter how high and mighty and aloof some might seem to be.
Also, I don’t believe anyone, absolutely no one, should feel intimidated to join a discussion, any discussion, even if your interest is only in passing. Nothing wrong with some occasional daftness and British eccentricity either –

.So, I’ll start. Crizzy is a Primary School Teacher….(for my sins)
so Crizzy, just out of curiosity, if a young child in your class told you that their parents bet on horse racing and this child, he or she, knows the winner of the 3.30 at Kempton, what do you say? as a primary school teacher with an obvious affinity for the game, do you show a genuine degree of interest, or because of moral teaching obligations take a negative line, or a neutral one perhaps. It’s just that a lot of us I think develop an interest when very young, which of course may lead to a gambling addiction later on. Just wondered.
If you should find the Fontwell catering less than satisfactory, I recommend a short walk along the road [less than a furlong] from the course entrance to the next little lane on the left which is the entrance to Denman’s Garden Centre and Plant Nursery. There is no charge for entering their delightful cafe where you will be tempted by many delights and guaranteed a hearty lunch.
In 2005 it won the Les Routiers Cafe of the Year award [for London and the South East]. Open daily.I like Minted but wonder if he’ll be more of a French Guineas type or even not quite getting the mile. In the same ownership as this one and World Ruler, is Beret Rouge [Red Ransom out of a Linamix mare], unbeaten in 2 runs and I liked the way he made all the other day and quickened clear in style over a mile at Chantilly. I prefer this one of these 3 at the moment although I’ve not seen the World Ruler race.
Loads of promising 2 year olds around this season don’t you think? seems more so than usual and I still like that Ascot maiden in July won by Atlantic Sport from Skadrak.
…you are funny. [Jeremy I mean].Go back to the start of the 20th century and the last week of July or first week of August was already recognised as being when the jumps recommenced,..
Jeremy
(graysonscolumn)..and I always had you down as a younger man Jeremy. Shucks!

Absolutely appalling that Scu and Pitman aren’t in the list.
thank you for voting and taking the time. Just to say I could only get 9 options. I left Pitman/Scudamore off as they are often teamed with Norman Williamson and further I wanted to concentrate only on those who have been more visible these past few months, and as we know they are mainly Oct-April.
A few others I had to leave out:
Big Mac/Dennis
Tom O’Ryan/Paul Morrison
Robert Cooper/Jason Weaver
Peter Naughton/Mark Howard
Big Mac/Alex Hammond
Hislop/FremantleSome of those are only occasional and not regular enough I thought.
Interesting that Balding/Carson is currently top. I wonder if it reflects on the lack of RUK viewers amongst those who have so far voted. ??
I expected Hislop/Mellish to get the top spot.- AuthorPosts
